After completing the enrollment procedures, Linchen and Tang Wulin walked together toward the dormitory area.
Upon arriving at the dormitory, they discovered two students were already there. As Linchen and Tang Wulin walked in, their gazes immediately turned toward the two newcomers.
The student on the lower left bunk was about the same height as Linchen but much sturdier, with short hair and eyes that looked like a toad's.
The student on the right was thinner, wore a pair of glasses, and was holding a book in his hand.
Tang Wulin spoke politely: "Hello, my name is Tang Wulin, and this is Yun Linchen beside me." As he spoke, he placed his luggage onto one of the empty bunks.
The bespectacled boy nodded, pushed up his glasses, and replied: "My name is Yun Xiao."
The other student rolled his eyes and told the two newcomers, Linchen and Tang Wulin, to clean up the dormitory.
Tang Wulin was a bit confused by the situation and was about to grab the broom in the corner to start cleaning when Linchen stopped him: "Cleaning is fine, but watch your tone. Who do you think you're ordering around?"
Tang Wulin had originally intended to just clean up and be done with it.
However, that student spoke with disdain: "Looking at you, you're just a softie. So what if I order you around?" As he spoke, he even yanked Tang Wulin's luggage down.
Yun Xiao was taken aback: "Zhou Changxi, you're going a bit too far."
Zhou Changxi laughed, shook out all of Tang Wulin's belongings, and looking at the items on the floor, mocked Tang Wulin for being a beggar.
Before Tang Wulin could make a move, Linchen's aura suddenly turned sharp and cold.
The temperature in the air seemed to drop several degrees instantly, and lightning surged deep within his celadon-colored pupils. Even though he hadn't released his martial soul, that invisible pressure made Zhou Changxi subconsciously take half a step back.
"Pick it up." Linchen's voice was very calm, yet it carried a bone-chilling coldness.
Zhou Changxi's Adam's apple bobbed, and he felt a bit panicked, but he still braced himself and forced out an arrogant laugh: "Pick it up? Why should I? You want to fight?"
As he spoke, he deliberately stepped on Tang Wulin's quilt, his demeanor truly begging for a beating.
Tang Wulin, standing beside Linchen, clenched his fists, moved his feet, and charged toward Zhou Changxi.
His fist, fueled by anger, struck directly toward the other's face. Zhou Changxi sneered and raised a hand to catch the punch, but that was all he managed to do.
Then, a blinding bolt of lightning struck him without warning.
Electric current surged through his entire body instantly. Zhou Changxi stiffened, the strength in his arm suddenly drained away, and Tang Wulin seized the opening, exerting force to slam a punch into his chest.
This punch carried immense power, sending Zhou Changxi flying backward. He crashed through the dormitory window and fell from the second floor like a ragdoll, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Just then, a figure appeared at the dormitory door. Whether he had gone to the wrong room or not, he first glanced at the shattered window, then at the items scattered on the floor, and finally fixed his gaze on Tang Wulin with a frown.
He kicked aside the scattered items, walked straight toward Linchen and Tang Wulin, and said coldly: "Get lost."
Tang Wulin was already suppressing a belly full of anger, and when he saw the cold, arrogant youth kick the quilt on the floor, his pupils constricted sharply.
A small flower was embroidered on the corner of that quilt; his mother had stayed up all night sewing it on before he left for Eastsea Academy.
"Don't touch it." Tang Wulin roared, lunging toward the arrogant youth with a sudden burst of speed.
But this pounce had no effect; instead, the youth easily dodged to the side and delivered an elbow strike to Tang Wulin's back.
Tang Wulin staggered from the blow and slammed into the bed frame, gasping in pain.
"Wulin!" Linchen's expression darkened. He stepped forward to support him, his celadon pupils narrowing as lightning crackled at his fingertips.
The youth retracted his elbow, maintaining his cold and arrogant posture. His gaze swept over Tang Wulin's pale, pained face, and his tone carried a hint of impatience: "Blocking the way and being an eyesore."
Linchen confronted him, his gaze as cold as tempered ice: "It seems you're the one who went to the wrong room, right? This dorm is full. Didn't you notice?"
The youth curled his lips in disdain: "Didn't notice. So what?"
Linchen's mouth twitched imperceptibly as he silently grumbled to himself: This Xie Xie is truly asking for it. Lightning surged in his pupils: "Since you won't listen, I happen to know a thing or two about fisticuffs."
As he finished speaking, a bolt of lightning struck the youth. The boy felt his whole body go numb and cursed under his breath: "Damn it, I can't move!"
Linchen moved, his speed so fast that only a blur remained. By the time the youth recovered, it was already too late; a fist was already heading his way.
As for what happened next, you can imagine.
"Ow! Stop hitting, stop hitting!"
Hearing this, Linchen stopped his movements, feeling secretly satisfied: The feeling of beating someone up without using a martial soul isn't bad at all.
The youth clutched his face, gasping in pain. He looked miserable, with not a shred of his earlier arrogance left.
Yun Xiao, who had witnessed the whole process, and Tang Wulin, who had been watching from the side, were both stunned.
Tang Wulin opened his mouth, looking at Linchen's retracted fist and then at the youth who was begging for mercy while clutching his head: "Brother Linchen is really fast with his hands."
"What are you all doing?" A middle-aged man's voice rang out from behind them.
About ten minutes later, at the Eastsea Academy Dean's Office.
"So, you're saying Zhou Changxi started the trouble, which then led to a series of disasters, is that right?"
Dean Long Hengxu looked coldly at the four people in front of him. The arrogant youth's face was swollen, and his eyes glared at Linchen as if they were filled with poison.
Linchen's expression was calm, his celadon-colored eyes showing no ripples.
Zhou Changxi's face was livid. He had started the trouble and then gotten beaten up, but if one looked closely, a trace of fear could still be seen deep in his eyes.
"Enough. Fighting on the first day of school—Zhou Changxi, you originally could have gone to Class 3, but since you started this, getting beaten is what you deserved." Zhou Changxi wanted to retort, but seeing Long Hengxu's gaze, he held his tongue.
Long Hengxu turned his gaze to Linchen and Tang Wulin, his tone remaining cold and hard: "Yun Linchen, Tang Wulin, although there were reasons for this, you two will stay in Class 5 to cover the repair costs for the damaged dormitory!"
He turned his gaze toward Xie Xie, who was secretly snickering on the side, "You went to the wrong dormitory and started a fight, so you're going to Class Five as well."
When they returned to the dormitory, the air still held the lingering, chaotic scent of the recent brawl.
Long Hengxu had ordered Zhou Changxi to pack his bags, and Lin Chen leaned against the doorframe, his celadon-colored pupils devoid of warmth: "Once you're finished packing, go find another dormitory yourself."
His tone was calm, yet carried an unquestionable sense of oppression. Zhou Changxi gritted his teeth, but dared not retort, and could only drag his luggage away in a disheveled state.
The dormitory finally quieted down. Yun Xiao had already silently begun to sweep the floor, Tang Wulin crouched on the ground to pick up scattered items, and Xie Xie rubbed the swollen side of his face, leaning against the wall in a sulk.
Not long after, maintenance workers arrived carrying glass and tools. As soon as they entered, one whistled and teased with a laugh: "Not bad, you lot. Fighting on the first day of school and smashing the window? Just how much of a grudge do you have?"
As the maintenance worker dismantled the broken glass, he chuckled: "Last time, someone even smashed through a dormitory door; you guys got off light. But listen, lads, fighting is one thing, but don't aim for the face. Look at this swelling, it's like you were struck by lightning."
As he spoke, he winked at Xie Xie.
Xie Xie's expression twisted slightly, and Lin Chen added indifferently: "He leaned into it himself."
