"Hmm? Tang Wulin, is this what you made over the past two days?" Xie Xie asked, pointing at the Cloud Peptide Vest on the table.

"Yeah, it took me two days to finish. Try it on and see if it fits." He reached out and pushed the Cloud Peptide Vest across the table toward Xie Xie.

Xie Xie pulled it on with some doubt, then stretched his arms and twisted back and forth. "Not bad. It fits pretty well and doesn't feel tight at all."

Tang Wulin immediately broke into a wide smile. He casually explained, "I called Lin Chen and Gu Yuena earlier to ask. They both said they didn't need one, so I didn't make any more. I only made four in total."

"Try them on later. If they don't fit, I can make some more adjustments."

Xie Xie felt the Cloud Peptide Vest against his body. The longer he wore it, the more he liked it. "With this close-fitting protection as a backup, we'll definitely ace the final exam."

Tang Wulin nodded firmly. "That's pretty much it. We should be safe in the Spirit Ascension Platform during its rampage period. Come on, let's find Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi and have them try theirs on too."

After entering the Spirit Ascension Platform, Lin Chen spoke in a low voice. "Follow the plan."

Tang Wulin stood at the very front of the group, with Wang Jinxi and Zhang Yangzi close behind him. Considering the Emerald Demon Bird, Lin Chen decided not to take any chances and didn't let Zhang Yangzi fly up to scout.

Xie Xie took on the role of scout, while Lin Chen and Gu Yuena brought up the rear.

Before they entered the Spirit Ascension Platform, Lin Chen had already told everyone to stay put for an hour before beginning to hunt Soul Beasts. If they ran into any, they were to deal with them first.

At that moment, Xie Xie clung nimbly to a tree, keeping low and hidden among its leaves. His gaze stayed fixed on the area ahead as he whispered, "Captain, we've got something. There's a hundred-year Iron Arm Ape up ahead."

At some point, Lin Chen had already moved to the front of the group. He answered Xie Xie, "Check whether there are any other Soul Masters nearby. If there aren't, I'll paralyze it first, then you can finish it off."

The Iron Arm Ape was crouched beneath a tree, eating with relish. When it sensed someone approaching, it was just about to roar when Lin Chen struck it squarely in the torso. The Iron Arm Ape shuddered violently and could only let out a muffled whimper.

"Attack," Lin Chen said calmly.

Xie Xie dove down from the tree, using the force of his descent to drive the Light Dragon Dagger deep into the Iron Arm Ape's vitals. Tang Wulin swung his forging hammer at its head.

The Iron Arm Ape didn't even have a chance to roar or struggle before the group took it down by surprise.

Lin Chen swept his gaze around the area, then gave his orders in a measured voice. "Rest here for a bit. Zhang Yangzi, Xie Xie, scout the surroundings and keep an eye out for signs of other teams."

Xie Xie immediately nodded and darted into the thicket to one side. Zhang Yangzi released his Soul Power.

A short while later, Zhang Yangzi lowered his voice and reported, "Captain, someone's coming this way. Two men and one woman. One has three rings, and the other two have two rings each. They've probably just finished absorbing spiritual energy."

As soon as he finished speaking, a blazing red beam shot toward Zhang Yangzi in the tree.

The others turned to look in the direction of the attack. When Tang Wulin saw who had arrived, he couldn't help but freeze for a moment.

One of the girls was none other than his senior sister, Mu Xi. Noticing Wulin's reaction, Lin Chen asked, "Wulin, do you know her?"

Tang Wulin nodded, a complicated look flashing across his eyes. "I do. That girl is my senior sister."

Lin Chen watched the group across from them for a moment, then turned to Tang Wulin and asked what he wanted to do. "Wulin, how do you want to handle this?"

Tang Wulin shook his head slightly. "Either way is fine with me. I'll follow your lead, Captain."

Lin Chen quickly made up his mind. His voice carried clearly to everyone. "We'll stick to the plan and lie low for a full hour. Once the time is up, we'll start clearing the place out."

Gu Yuena glanced at Mu Xi and the others, who were standing guard in the distance, and chimed in. "Let's finish the final exam first."

There was no denying that the Soul Beasts in the Spirit Ascension Platform had grown far more numerous during its rampage period.

While everyone kept their heads down and safely waited out that hour, they ran into more than twenty Soul Beasts. Fortunately, they were all ten-year Soul Beasts, so the group had no trouble dealing with them.

Lin Chen stretched his arms and leisurely rolled his shoulders. Beside him, Gu Yuena also raised her hands and loosened her shoulders and back.

Lin Chen turned to the others, his tone light. "All right, time's up. Is everyone ready to clear the place out?"

Xie Xie immediately whipped out both daggers, looking excited. "At last! I've been holding back for a whole hour. I can barely stand it anymore."

The group swiftly took down a Man Faced Demon Spider. They didn't linger, and after cleaning up the scene, they headed deeper in.

But they hadn't gone far when a roar came from ahead. Everyone looked up at once. A bizarre-looking python had appeared in front of them, with three arms on either side of its body. It was a Six-Armed Fire Snake.

Lin Chen's eyes narrowed as lightning silently surged around him. He was about to strike first and suppress it when an unexpected turn of events suddenly unfolded.

Before he could attack, countless holes appeared across the Six-Armed Fire Snake's body. It was then sliced into several pieces, and two figures up ahead absorbed its spiritual energy.

One was a youth who looked around seventeen. Three Soul Rings—two yellow and one purple—floated around him, and he held an ice staff in his right hand. Beside him stood a little girl with twin ponytails.

Lin Chen recognized them at a glance. The future number-one control-type Soul Master beneath the stars, Xu Xiaoyan, and the person beside her, Xu Xiaoyu.

Xu Xiaoyu noticed Lin Chen's group standing ahead and walked straight toward them.

Xie Xie frowned and asked, "Captain, what are they trying to do?"

Lin Chen replied, "No idea. Let's see what they're up to."

Before Xu Xiaoyu had even reached them, he attacked Lin Chen, who stood at the front of the group, with his ice staff. Lin Chen reacted swiftly and easily dodged the strike.

"You want to catch me off guard? You've got a long way to go."

Under the astonished gazes of Xu Xiaoyu and his sister, three Millennium Soul Rings, each marked with a hint of black, slowly rose from beneath Lin Chen's feet. He spoke in a low voice. "Since you were the ones who attacked first, we'll just have to fight back. Na'er."

"Got it." Gu Yuena answered. Her purple eyes showed not a trace of hesitation as the moisture in the air around her suddenly condensed. Several sharp ice spikes shot toward Xu Xiaoyu.

Xu Xiaoyu raised his hand and urged his Soul Power to block them. Before he could regain his footing, the First Soul Ring beneath Lin Chen's feet lit up. Violent lightning burst from Lin Chen's palm and shot straight toward Xu Xiaoyu.

The crackling blue-green lightning tore through the air. Its thunderous roar shook the surrounding plants violently, and in an instant, they were ripped apart by the bolts.

Xu Xiaoyan, standing farther back, hadn't been affected much. Gu Yuena exchanged a glance with Lin Chen, then walked toward her.

Gu Yuena slowly approached Xu Xiaoyan and looked down at the girl crouched on the ground. Smiling, she asked, "Are you going to leave the Spirit Ascension Platform on your own, or do you want to get kicked out like that ice-staff guy?"

Xu Xiaoyan looked up at Gu Yuena. That kind smile now carried a chilling menace. Tears quickly welled in her eyes, and she hurriedly waved her hands and pleaded, "No, no, please don't hit me! I'm scared of pain. I'll leave on my own!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Xu Xiaoyan pressed her distress signal. A gentle white light instantly enveloped her, and in the blink of an eye, she was out of the Spirit Ascension Platform.

Zhang Yangzi and Xie Xie had watched the whole thing. They swallowed nervously, their eyes filling with a little more wariness as they looked at Gu Yuena. "I'm telling you, Gu Yuena, you're way too scary. How can you say something that cold with a mouth that's thirty-six degrees? You've got the intimidation factor maxed out."

Gu Yuena furrowed her brows slightly and gave a soft snort. "They were the ones who ambushed Lin Chen first."

Lin Chen scratched his head. "Thanks."

Xie Xie leaned forward. "What's up, Captain?"

Lin Chen rubbed his forehead. "I wasn't talking to you."
