Though the Pure Land, the realm of the dead, was not as prosperous as the world of the living, its unique laws provided Tobirama with all kinds of ideal conditions for research.
So much so that Tobirama wanted to escape his dream and return to reality, to experience firsthand the strange world created by chakra and souls coexisting.
Then a special guest arrived in the Pure Land, disrupting Tobirama's peaceful, tedious life.
It was the Third of this world, Rikusei, who had died of a blood disease.
But Tobirama didn't believe Rikusei's story.
The deception and concealment surrounding the Rinnegan's awakening in the living world were still fresh in his mind. And he had sensed the God Tree's aura in Rikusei's chakra.
After investigating several times, Tobirama confirmed Rikusei's true cause of death. As expected, he had most likely fallen while trying to awaken the Rinnegan.
A summons that reached straight into his soul tugged at Tobirama's heart. Gazing at his fading arm, he waited for the Impure World Reincarnation to call him back, a touch of emotion in his eyes.
His tightly shut eyes slowly opened. As his pupils turned, his mind stirred, and Tobirama once again experienced the sensation of having a body. He looked to his left and saw his elder brother awakening as well.
Returning to a familiar place only to face Konoha's younger generation—perhaps it was another sign that even after death, he had no say in what happened.
