History
Chenyang City Incident
Jiang Fei investigated the Day of Vengeance’s activities in Chenyang City and explained the cult’s practice of framing martial geniuses, then forcing them into its ranks under the guise of rescue 16.
During the citywide disaster, he found Han Cui and Chu Ying suffering from eerie spiritual contamination. He treated them as best he could, gave them his bronze camouflage medallion, and chose to pursue the anomaly possessing Chen Yun despite expecting that he might not survive 24. He later fought the possessed Chen Yun alone to delay the anomaly and protect civilians, despite lacking martial arts specifically suited to countering anomalies 25.
Chu Yuan returned to assist him, and the two cooperated to destroy the anomaly. Jiang Fei was badly injured in the battle but survived after Chu Yuan administered a medicinal pill 25 26. Though he had resigned from the Martial Suppression Bureau amid the crisis, he promised Chu Yuan that he would protect Han Cui and Chu Ying—or take them and flee if necessary 26.
Secret Realm Trial
Jiang Fei provided Chu Yuan with information about Yan Xuan’s ruined martial foundation, the suspected internal conspiracy behind it, and Alien Race cultivation methods 35 36. He also watched over Chu Ying while Chu Yuan entered the Secret Realm trial 37 38.
He escorted Chu Yuan and other students to the Prefecture Martial Suppression Bureau for the Blood Beast Secret Realm trial. There, he stressed that surviving and retrieving valuable materials mattered more than obsessing over rank 39 40.
Martial God Record Case
After escorting the cultivation technique known as the Martial God Record, Jiang Fei disappeared in Qiyang City and was declared a defector. The Martial Suppression Bureau’s investigation concluded that he had deliberately avoided surveillance and erased his trail 85.
Chu Yuan refused to believe the accusation and used the Inverse Fate Soul-Binding Technique to find Jiang Fei unconscious inside a freezer. Jiang Fei had been poisoned and ambushed by Liu Yan and Pan Ce; the Martial God Record and its Protection Crystal had been stolen 86 87 88.
Jiang Fei concealed his Martial Suppression Bureau identity from Liu Yan for years because he had promised her dying father, Uncle Liu, that he would protect her. He had also secretly supported her and her former boyfriends from the shadows, despite considering her naive, vain, and easily manipulated 89. His decision to prioritize Liu Yan’s survival amounted to dereliction of duty, even though he intended to recover the stolen manual and expose the mastermind 89 91.
Feng Jinglan, Jiang Fei’s teacher, personally re-adjudicated his case. Liu Yan received life imprisonment, while Jiang Fei was sent to the Outer-Heaven frontlines to earn merit through dangerous service 91.
Outer-Heaven Battlefield
On the battlefield, Jiang Fei fought alongside Miao Xiuxiu and chose to return for her when they were surrounded by pursuers and Weirds, despite recognizing that the decision could be fatal 145. He later remained on the Outer-Heaven Battlefield to search for Chen Yun, while entrusting Chu Yuan with the safe return of Wu Mushuang and Dai Yang’s former teammate to Earth Star 162.
He used Martial Suppression Bureau authority to pursue and arrest Dai Yang after Dai mistreated Wu Mushuang. Jiang Fei attacked Dai in front of military justice officers, then cooperated with them to secure Dai’s arrest rather than escalating the conflict against the officers themselves 160.
By the time he reunited with Chu Yuan and Chen Yun during a later mission, Jiang Fei remained active in the field; he and Chen Yun showed increasing closeness 269.
Personality
Jiang Fei is fundamentally self-sacrificing. He repeatedly places civilian lives and comrades ahead of his own safety, whether facing Chen Yun’s possession in Chenyang City or returning for Miao Xiuxiu in a near-hopeless battlefield situation 24 25 145.
His loyalty can become a serious weakness. His obligation to Uncle Liu led him to protect Liu Yan even after her actions endangered him, the Martial God Record, and the Martial Suppression Bureau. Feng Jinglan directly compared this conduct to desertion, leaving Jiang Fei unable to defend himself 89 91.
Despite his compassion, Jiang Fei can be cold and ruthless when dealing with threats. He severely wounded and interrogated Pan Ce for information, and he was willing to use Bureau authority and force against Dai Yang when pursuing justice for Wu Mushuang 88 160.
