Background / History

Gu Yue and Na'er completed an awakening ritual that left them sharing memories. Having learned Cheng Duoyi's circumstances through Na'er, Gu Yue rushed to Eastsea Academy after waking and arranged for the two to spend three years each pursuing him. She privately regards Cheng as her reincarnated mate, though his reincarnation as a man initially makes her correct herself from calling him her “wife” to her “husband.” 13

Her identity as the Matriarch of the Ten Great Fierce Beasts is revealed after she returns to her subordinates. Determined to heal Cheng Duoyi, she orders them to search for heavenly treasures that extend lifespan. 21

Gu Yue enters Grade 1 Class 5 as an unaffiliated applicant. Cheng Duoyi speaks in support of giving her an evaluation, and she earns immediate admission by identifying herself as a level-15 Elemental Master and displaying exceptional multi-element control. 13

After joining the Spirit Pagoda alongside Cheng and their classmates, Gu Yue takes a particular interest in spirit-soul cultivation. Cheng offers her his sole apprentice position for the work, believing her knowledge of spirit beasts makes her well suited to assist him. 35 37 38

Appearance

Gu Yue is introduced as a girl with long black hair and black eyes. Though the narration does not call her conventionally beautiful, she carries an unusual poise that silences the room when she enters. 13

  • Long black hair. 13
  • Initially described with black eyes; later scenes describe purple or pink eyes. 13 28 48
  • Maintains a calm, composed expression in public, including during combat. 13 23
  • A dark-silver mark appears on her forehead when Cheng Duoyi's Seven-Colored Bloodline amplifies her Silver Dragon King nature. 41

Personality

Gu Yue is calm, self-assured, and intensely observant. She approaches Eastsea Academy with a clear purpose, conceals her true identity, and treats her enrollment examination as a formality rather than a source of anxiety. 13

Her attachment to Cheng Duoyi is protective, possessive, and deeply personal. She becomes jealous when he gives Tang Wuling attention, yet her priority remains Cheng's health; she offers to hold his hand without seeking to exploit the Dragon God Heart inside him, and she vows to protect his life. 14 15 19

Although initially hostile toward Tang Wuling as a rival, Gu Yue recognizes Tang Wuling's devotion to Cheng. Following their duel, she agrees to share responsibility for protecting him rather than treating Tang as an enemy. 14 25 28

As Matriarch, Gu Yue can be severe and uncompromising toward her subordinates. She threatens Xiong Jun after he oversteps his place, demonstrating an authority markedly different from her gentler behavior around Cheng. 21

Abilities & Skills

Elemental Master

Gu Yue's Martial Soul grants control over wind, fire, earth, water, light, and space. Her precision and ability to switch elements rapidly astonish both Wu Changkong and Leng Xue'er. 13

  • Creates offensive projectiles including Ice Spikes, Fireballs, and Wind Blades. 13 23 25
  • Uses earth manipulation such as Earth Sink to trap or restrict opponents. 23 25
  • Forms light-based attacks, including a Light Ball. 13
  • Can use water, fire, earth, and wind in coordinated barrages. 47 48
  • Her control and timing are strong enough to suppress Xie Xie, despite his superior speed and twin Martial Souls. 23 24

Spatial Manipulation

Gu Yue can teleport through her space-element control, repeatedly repositioning during combat and evading attacks that would otherwise corner her. 13 23 25

  • Evaded Tang Wuling's Bind by teleporting before the Blue Silver Grass could seize her. 25
  • Used successive teleports to keep Xie Xie from landing a decisive strike. 23 24
  • Her repeated use of Teleport leaves opponents unable to predict her position or create a stable opening. 24

Soul Skills

By the time Zero Class challenges Wu Changkong, Gu Yue possesses two soul skills centered on strengthening and directing elemental attacks. 47

  • First Soul Skill — Elemental Tide: Intensifies her connection to surrounding elements. 47
  • Second Soul Skill — Elemental Control: Launches large-scale barrages of fireballs, ice spikes, earth spikes, and wind blades. 47
  • Under Cheng Duoyi's command, she uses wind to disperse Wu Changkong's Frost Mist and immediately follows with a coordinated elemental assault. 48

Elemental Fusion

Gu Yue can combine elements into attacks beyond ordinary single-element techniques. 28 50

  • Ice-Fire Elemental Lotus: A fusion attack powerful enough that Wu Changkong fears it could seriously injure a three-ring Soul Elder. Tang Wuling blocks it, but only after sustaining injuries. 28
  • Creates simultaneous ice and fire dragons to halt the advance of a Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear. 49
  • By the following year, she can briefly fuse three or four elements into stronger complex attacks. 50
  • She deliberately held back during her duel with Tang Wuling, avoiding an outcome that might have badly injured Cheng Duoyi's companion. 28

Silver Dragon King Nature

Gu Yue's true nature responds strongly to Cheng Duoyi's Seven-Colored Bloodline. His aura improves both her cultivation speed and her command over elements. 35 41 48

  • Cheng's bloodline causes a dark-silver forehead mark to appear and noticeably strengthens her elemental control. 41 48
  • Holding Cheng's hand accelerates her own recovery while helping stabilize and restore his vitality. 15
  • Despite sensing Tang Wuling's Golden Dragon King bloodline, Gu Yue refuses to devour her because doing so would hurt Cheng. 35

Mecha Design

Gu Yue chooses Mecha Designer as her secondary profession and reaches Level 1 within a year. 50

Relationships

  • Cheng Duoyi — Her reincarnated mate and the person she is determined to heal and protect. She enters Eastsea Academy to remain with him, and their physical contact stabilizes his vitality while accelerating her recovery. 13 15 21
  • Tang Wuling — Initially a jealous rival for Cheng's affection. Their competitive spar ends with Tang's victory, after which Gu Yue agrees to protect Cheng alongside her. 25 28
  • Na'er — Shares memories with Gu Yue following their awakening ritual. The two agree to spend three years each pursuing Cheng Duoyi. 13
  • Xie Xie — A classmate she finds irritating, especially when he comments on her relationship with Cheng. She decisively defeats him in their class spar. 14 23 24
  • Leng Xue'er — Her deputy homeroom teacher, who immediately notices that Gu Yue is difficult to read and investigates her because of Gu Yue's interest in Cheng. 13 14
  • Xiong Jun, Bi Ji, and Zi Ji — Subordinates among the Ten Great Fierce Beasts. They recognize Gu Yue as their Matriarch and receive her orders to locate lifespan-extending treasures for Cheng. 21

Rivalry with Tang Wuling
