Divination Art
The Northern Territory Pass is Antir's name for the entrance to a canyon; once you cross this canyon, you'll reach the Northern Territory of the continent.
The environment in the Northern Territory is different from here; the temperature is much lower, and only a few plant species can survive there. Most of the day, you can only see a sea of white.
By the time we arrived, it was already quite cold, and there were no other people living there.
Because further north lies the cold Northern Territory, while a little further south offers warmer living conditions, people generally don't settle here.
But here, the sound of horses' hooves could be heard continuously, only diminishing slightly as they approached the entrance.
This team hadn't had enough rest in a long time; the armored men looked tired and their bodies were stiff.
But a gust of cold wind from the canyon made them shiver, and only then did they come to their senses.
"We've arrived, Commander," a knight said, not even turning his head to look at the canyon entrance.
Connor did not blame the knight. He knew that these knights had been traveling with him day and night, and even a First Order Profession should be exhausted by the time they arrived here.
As a Second Order Profession User, he only felt slightly tired and was not seriously injured.
He immediately took out the Tracking Bug from his bag and fed it the enhancement drug again. After eating it, the Tracking Bug slammed into the south.
"Fortunately, that mage didn't go to the Northern Territory."
He breathed a sigh of relief; he had been afraid that the mage had already reached the Northern Territory, rendering their three days of pursuit futile.
Connor began giving orders.
"Everyone, settle the horses down. No need to give them any more stimulants, just some nutritional supplements. They can rest now. I'll take the first shift."
Upon hearing that they could rest, everyone dismounted and led their horses to a designated spot.
Connor looked at the still excited horses and sighed. He wouldn't have resorted to this drastic measure if he weren't afraid that the mage would reach the Northern Territory very quickly.
After all, such stimulants also have side effects and can harm horses to some extent. Furthermore, after running wildly for three days, they also need to rest for three days.
At this moment, a knight in silver-white armor, fighting off his drowsiness, approached Connor and said:
"Captain, now that we're ahead of that mage, should we rest and then go after him...?"
Connor rejected his proposal outright, saying:
"That won't do. Not only could that mage arrive at any moment, but even the Tracking Bug can't withstand such an intense search..."
He knew the limits of the Tracking Bug; if you fed it too many booster pills in a day, it could die on the spot.
Furthermore, Connor didn't want to chase his target in one direction across the wilderness; that would be far too exhausting.
"As long as we feed it the enhancement drug once every three days, this Tracking Bug won't die."
"As long as the Tracking Bug doesn't change direction too much, we'll stay put and guard this spot."
"Even if that mage took a different route, it would take her even longer. We're sure we can catch her before she enters the Northern Territory."
The silver-clad knight hesitated for a moment, but finally spoke.
"If that mage didn't take another route and instead lingered on the road for a long time, are we supposed to stay here and keep watch?"
His armor was extremely cold. Although his physique could withstand it, it was still uncomfortable, and prolonged exposure to the cold would likely cause problems.
It's getting quite cold here, but the temperature is the same for two miles to the south. In order to block out that sorcerer, they have to set up camp here.
They couldn't adapt to this temperature, not to mention they hadn't brought many warm clothes; staying here would just be a waste of their energy.
"Keep watch. Trust me, that mage from Gede Town might not know, but I do."
"The Northern Lands Society is also a University Association, and its entry requirements are even higher than those of the Skeleton Society, because it is located outside the regular the Alliance area."
"If you don't know someone, it's virtually impossible to join the Northern Lands Society."
"I understand those mages' thirst for knowledge. Unless they encounter something more interesting along the way, they will definitely rush to their destination."
"Just wait and see, maybe tomorrow, that Tracking Bug will jump up."
The silver-white knight had no way to refute these things he didn't understand, so he had no choice but to step down and go rest.
Fran lay on the bed in the mage's reception area, silently sensing the sounds emanating from the Divination Art.
Since using it once, Fran has practiced a lot more, advancing her Divination Art to a level of proficiency.
However, she didn't use this Divination Art when she was predicting the Steam Engine last time, partly because she didn't have anything else to worry about at the time, and she could just start practicing spells after she finished making it.
Secondly, she was so engrossed in building Steam Engine that she forgot about this matter.
Now, she is going to use the Divination Art once again.
Because she will encounter a second-tier enemy later, and this time it won't be in the Spirit Realm. Although she can now use her Blood of the Furnace, she will still use the Divination Art just in case.
She channeled her Mental Power and began to cast Divination Art.
As soon as she began casting the spell, she felt her Mental Power rapidly draining away.
She knew that the timeframe was still quite far removed from the present, which was why so much energy had been wasted.
She roughly calculated that this time would be more than a month from now.
Knowing the timeframe, she finally relaxed, because it was clear she had plenty of time to prepare.
Now that she has mastered the Gale Swordsman Profession, she will be able to put up a fight against a second-tier opponent.
Of course, if you want to defeat your opponent, you'll have to use the Blood of the Furnace.
A strange sensation came over her, and a blurry image began to appear before Fran's eyes. She knew that the Divination Art had been successfully cast.
The scene of the valley reappeared in her mind, but this time it was no longer a scene of confrontation.
She saw herself holding a longsword, her robes torn in many places, her arms completely exposed, covered in magically created Scale Rock.
She felt that she had experienced some exhaustion, but overall she was still okay.
All around her were severed limbs and broken arms, fragments of armor and longswords scattered on the ground, and Blaze, frost, and protruding, living Earth Element were everywhere. Through the image, she could feel the intense magical fluctuations.
Opposite her stood only one person, dressed in black armor. The wolf head on his shoulder was gone, and a huge gap appeared in the center of the armor, revealing an ugly wound.
At that moment, the person on the other end spoke.
"Master, it seems this is your last resort. Now it's my turn."
The runes on Fran's longsword had faded, so it seemed that this was the 'last resort' he had mentioned.
Fran, who was in the scene, then spoke; her voice was clear and crisp.
"You could have taken that token and let me go. Do you regret it now?"
Instead of responding directly, the other party drew another sword from his back and pointed it at Fran.
"Shut up, mage, or I'll send you down to their graves."
The scene ends here, and Fran sees the ceiling of the mage's reception area again.
