"Hmm?" As Alaric continued reading, the development of this Paper took him completely by surprise.
He hadn't expected that the mathematical analysis in the title was actually true, but it wasn't as simple as he thought, using one or two formulas to calculate the Fireball.
This article first defines a mathematical approach, then explains what this approach is like, and provides two examples.
Gradually, Alaric's expression became more focused, because he was falling behind the pace of the Paper; the mathematical formulas listed were not something he could understand at a glance.
He had to concentrate to understand the mathematical formulas on it, lest he lose track of what the other person was saying after just one or two lines.
As an auditor, he was also a First Order Mage, whose thinking speed far surpassed that of ordinary people. However, when he came into contact with something he had never heard of before, he felt as if his brain was about to burn.
These numbers, in particular, made his brain start calculating frantically. Sometimes his results differed from the derivations above, and he needed to carefully check where the errors had occurred.
"No... it's... not like that..."
If anyone else were here, they would surely notice that a very high level of Mental Power is currently surging within Alaric's brain, throbbing wildly inside his head.
His legs began to tremble involuntarily, making his breathing heavier.
A few drops of sweat trickled down his forehead, and as he wiped them away with his hand, distracted, he suddenly realized that he had been engrossed in the story for quite some time.
"Huff--!" Alaric gasped for breath, struggling to keep up with the intense analysis; the numbers made his brain feel like it was about to explode.
"I can't take it anymore, I need to rest for a while!" Alaric told himself.
He closed his eyes, but he still felt the number on his eyelids, and his mind couldn't calm down for a long time.
Once his breathing gradually stabilized, he was finally able to catch his breath.
He pressed his taut temples, still unable to believe what kind of article he had come across.
"Who is this person?! Why would they come up with such pointless things?!"
After venting his emotions a little, he continued reading, following the narrative of the Paper.
He had already read the derivation of this mathematical formula, and now he shifted his focus to discussing the Fireball.
He watched as the Paper's authors used the previously established formula to very quickly analyze the Magic Power infusion and power of the Fireball.
This time, however, his mind was not in the right state at all, and his Mental Power was not flowing in his brain.
Because this is different from when she taught ' Calculus ' before, Fran was genuinely thinking about it herself when she wrote this part.
While she was thinking, she naturally omitted some tedious processes.
Although Fran wasn't a mathematical genius, her experience from her previous life, combined with her long period of study in the Magic World, made her level higher than Alaric had only been learning Calculus for half a day.
Alaric was completely baffled. How had things come to this point? How could things be like this here? And where did this number come from?
All of this filled Alaric with doubt, and these thoughts kept flashing through his mind, effectively blocking his thinking.
He shifted his gaze back upwards, examined it carefully twice, and then suddenly realized, "Oh, so that's how it is!"
But when he returned to the original spot and continued to check, the engine went out, and he couldn't find that feeling of sudden realization anymore.
This made him feel inexplicably irritable and extremely uncomfortable. In the end, he chose to give up and, after carefully reviewing the conclusions of the Paper, hastily finished it.
"Anyway, I'm not one of those people who control the recommendations, so let the people who curate the best picks have a headache."
Alaric marked the Paper as passed at the end, but then he got stuck when he was about to write the Paper's comments.
Honestly, although the mathematics in this paper made even a First Order Mage sweat profusely, he still didn't feel that the Paper was of much use.
Fireball is just a spell that any apprentice can learn, so what's the point of researching it?
No matter how much you reduce the energy consumption, a First Order Mage can still cast over fifty fireballs per minute. Furthermore, many First Order spells are more powerful than fifty fireballs just by being cast.
Therefore, in Alaric's view, this Paper was not very Paper, even though it did involve a lot of research.
"That's it." As he said before, Alaric also had the right to submit the good articles he reviewed to the selection department, so they wouldn't have to go to great lengths to find those excellent Paper.
However, in Alaric's eyes, this Paper was barely passable and could not be considered a significant Paper.
Alaric's hand continued towards the area awaiting review. This time, the Paper he received was different from Fran's; it bore the distinctive pattern of the Northern Lands Society.
Alaric recognized this pattern; it was the internal review and delivery form of the Northern Lands Society, a form that allowed for skipping queues and prioritizing review.
Even when reviewing this kind of paper, only the narrative issues need to be examined; any academic content is already established the moment the paper arrives.
Alaric spread the paper out on the table and began to study it carefully.
"The Alchemy School has made a breakthrough in extracting a second-order material called White Star Sand."
I must say, after reading the dense numbers and mathematical symbols in the previous Paper, just reading the text here made Alaric feel comfortable.
Alaric's eyes lit up, and after studying it carefully, he gently tapped the table.
"The academy has achieved another such significant result!"
The Paper is very simple in its description; it simply states that a method was discovered that can significantly increase the yield of White Star Sand extract, and also produce many more byproducts. There is no profound theory involved.
While this was clearly not as impactful as Harbos's Paper on the Alliance, it was enough to shake the Alchemy School to its core.
After Alaric carefully reviewed it again and confirmed that there were no errors, he wrote down the words of approval.
"Oh, and also recommend this Paper to your select friends."
"Snowflake Selection, Fallen Leaf Selection, Alchemy Selection..."
Alaric copied the titles and Paper numbers of the Paper several times, writing them all on a piece of paper, which he would later hand to the selected responsible persons.
His pen stopped, as if he had remembered something.
"Oh, right, send him a copy of that Paper."
He added the Paper number "Mathematical Analysis of Fireball" to the note Fallen Leaf Selection.
The person in charge of Fallen Leaf Selection is his friend, and this amazing Paper must be shown to his friend.
