Overwhelming Battle (Part One)
Jeremy stared at Fran's leg, recalling the taste of his first bite of human flesh, a feeling he could never forget.
Nathan also revealed a ferocious expression, gestured with his hands in front of his eyes for a moment, and then said:
"I've heard that mages have the most exquisite minds in the world. Although this is the mind of Spirit Realm Mage, it should be comparable to that of the Alliance mage."
While they were talking, the beastmen behind them were also getting restless; they also wanted to have a taste of food made from human flesh.
On their way here, they could occasionally abduct a few people from nearby settlements to eat.
But for some reason, when we got to the vicinity of this area, we couldn't find a single settlement, only ruins with some traces of life.
By now, the beastmen, who hadn't eaten human flesh in a long time, were starving. They certainly wouldn't let a passing passerby go easily.
Even before they saw Fran, they were already planning how to eat Fran. Although Fran looked short and probably didn't have much meat on her body, something was better than nothing.
Fran remained silent, watching the orcs arrogantly wave their weapons in front of her.
Looking at Fran's calm face, Nathan lost all interest in playing around. He had originally wanted to see a look of fear on her face, but so far, her expression remained as calm as still water.
This made him lose all patience. He raised his right hand high and, under the expectant gazes of all the orcs, swung it fiercely towards Fran.
"Rush!!"
"Waaaaa!!!"
"Aww!!"
The orcs immediately let out a battle cry, which infected the Dire Wolf beneath them, who also howled a couple of times.
Jeremy drew the giant axe from his back, and just as he was about to command the Dire Wolf to move forward, he caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye of his good brother Nathan already driving the Dire Wolf forward.
He hurriedly urged the Dire Wolf to follow suit, but before the Dire Wolf could receive his command, Nathan's Dire Wolf had already taken a step and firmly planted its foot on the frozen ground.
The Magic Trap Radiance red and unleashed an aura that made both of them feel uneasy, but they didn't have time to react.
Flames exploded in front of them, and the huge shockwave blasted them and the two Dire Wolf into the air, where they were thrown backward.
However, this had no effect on the rest of the orcs' attack; they continued their furious charge.
Many of the Dire Wolf beneath the orcs had never seen anything like it before, and some were afraid and wanted to stop, but the orcs dared not do so.
Those Dire Wolf Dire Wolf that dared to stop were struck hard on the head by the orcs' immense strength, forcing them to overcome the effects of the violent explosion and charge forward.
Fran's second spell was already prepared: [Earth Uplift].
For a moment, even the beastmen riding on their Dire Wolf could feel the earth tremble.
At the same time, a beam of Earth Element light spun rapidly forward beneath the ground, bypassing the orcs' side and then appearing behind them.
Before the orcs could figure out what was happening, several huge spikes rose from the ground behind and to their sides.
These spikes didn't hit any of the orcs, but they made them unable to see the way they came when they looked back.
"We're trapped." At this moment, the last orc in the charging crowd realized the problem, and a bad feeling welled up in his heart.
But when he looked ahead, he saw his teammates rushing forward recklessly, completely oblivious to the changes around them.
That's their squad's fighting style. There are no fancy tactics; as long as Nathan commands the charge at the right moment, the powerful orcs can crush everything.
Even if Nathan and Jeremy, who are leading the charge, were blown away by something unknown, it wouldn't affect their speed of attack.
But this time, something seems different.
Before the smoke from the previous Magic Trap explosion had even cleared, the orc in the lead charged straight into the dust cloud.
Fran couldn't have set up only one Magic Trap; it's just that the second trap was a bit too close for her, so she didn't use [Flame Trap].
As the Dire Wolf's forelimbs touched a relatively clean patch of ground, it suddenly felt its body sink, followed by a sharp pain.
It lowered its head slightly and saw that several sharp spikes had pierced its body, causing it to swell.
It felt all its strength drain away, unable to move because of the thorns sticking out of its body.
Above the dead Dire Wolf, the spikes passed directly through the Dire Wolf and pierced into the orc's body.
However, he was still a First Order Profession. Even though the spikes had pierced his chest, he endured the excruciating pain and forcefully smashed the spikes with his weapon, staggering as he charged toward Fran.
The orcs riding their Dire Wolf behind them lost control of the distance and crashed headfirst into the erected spikes, sending several orcs flying.
At that moment, the [Howling Gale] Spell Ring on Fran's hand glowed faintly, and then suddenly shone brightly.
An invisible stream of air was released in front of Fran. As it was released, Fran thought of the Enhanced Wind Blade that Nora had used during the attack test.
She didn't know how the other person infused the Wind Element, so she directly infused the Wind Element into the place where she infused her Mental Power.
The Howling Gale's structure underwent a subtle change, which instantly made Fran realize the key to Nora's Enhanced Wind Blade incorporating the Wind Element.
"Is it true that only mages with elemental affinity can add the corresponding element when casting elemental affinity?"
Fran realized that the key to Enhanced Wind Blade was that only those with elemental affinity could do it.
Strictly speaking, her [Howling Gale] could be considered an enhanced version, but she lacked the skills honed over many years by the Elemental School, resulting in her infusing only a small amount of Wind Element.
However, even this small change represents a significant shift for her. She believes that as her proficiency increases, she will be able to infuse more Wind Element, making the spell even more powerful.
After thinking it over, she finally threw the Howling Gale out of her hand.
An invisible current swept forward, this time carrying a hint of Wind Element properties. When it encountered the spike trap blocking its path, it sliced the entire spike in two, with one half flying away with the wind.
