Interrogation
After Fran dealt with the Mercenary squad, she confirmed that no one present was still standing.
She used her longsword to poke all the corpses on the ground, regardless of whether the bodies still lying on the ground resisted.
"No, please spare my life..." An orc, covered in blood, lay on the ground, begging Fran for mercy.
Judging from the wounds on his body, this orc was badly injured; there wasn't a single patch of uninjured flesh on his body.
Even without Fran's finishing blow, this orc might have bled to death.
Fran could tell that he had a strong will to live; he didn't seem to want to die.
But Fran didn't care whether the orc wanted to die or not. He had provoked her, and she couldn't be bothered to figure out who deserved to live and who deserved to die.
For her, confirming the entire squad was dead was the most efficient way to deal with this sudden event.
She didn't even step forward; instead, she cast a spell [Greater Fireball] from a distance.
This was automatically obtained from the Panel after Fran's Fireball reached the Extraordinary Level of proficiency.
She initially thought it was the [Pyroblast she had seen before, but she never expected to see this particular spell on the Panel.
In terms of spell effects, this Greater Fireball is quite different from the Pyroblast.
The focus of Pyroblast is on the explosion of Fire Element to cause higher damage.
However, the Greater Fireball is different. Although it is also First Order spell, its emphasis is on the word "great".
The biggest difference between the Greater Fireball Fran acquired and the regular Fireball is that Fran can create an even larger fireball.
While a larger fireball would mean greater damage, it doesn't seem to be on the same level as Pyroblast.
However, the Greater Fireball also has its own advantages. If the fireball is large enough, it can hit enemies in a wider area, unlike the Pyroblast which can only hit one target.
It's fair to say that each has its own merits. One thing that Fran finds particularly appealing about the Greater Fireball is that the Fire Element she summons can be imbued with the Dragon Flame effect.
In the orc's despairing gaze, a ball of fire exploded on his body, turning everything around him red, and then charred black within seconds.
Fran also cleaned up the surrounding corpses, as those corpses were just troublesome to leave behind.
Furthermore, she had absolutely no intention of looting these Mercenary; as far as she knew, by now, she had come to look down on their Mercenary.
Scavenging might only give her two or three extra Gold Coin, which are practically useless to her.
If she really needs money, she can start a business making Spell Ring within the Northern Lands Society. Spell Ring is more profitable than fighting a few Mercenary squads outside.
She followed the Battlefield, throwing fireballs at every single item belonging to the Mercenary.
A still-moving figure caught her attention and surprised her greatly.
A charred humanoid creature was writhing on the ground, as if begging for help.
She recognized the figure; it was the arrogant orc from the beginning. She had assumed that he would be dead long ago under the Dragon Flame -enhanced Flame Trap, but she hadn't expected him to still be alive.
This surprised her somewhat, because even Half-Dragon had drunk the Dragon-Transformation Potion still had a considerable chance of being killed by Dragon Flame Dragon Flame Dragon Scale that provided special protection against them.
The opponent, incredibly, withstood the Dragon Flame using only flesh and blood, and did not die.
Logically, she should have followed up with a fireball to eliminate any future threats, but before that, she decided to do something else first.
A bucket of cold water woke Jeremy up; the water froze into ice shards the moment it touched his face, and then splattered onto his skin.
He felt the cold water touch his face, and the scorched areas felt the chill.
"Screech—!" At the same time, the cold water squeezed into his wound, making the pain unbearable.
"What happened?" he gritted his teeth and asked, hoping his companion would respond, but when he opened his eyes, his heart sank.
Standing next to him was a short person wearing a robe, and he recognized her face clearly.
"It's you!!" Jeremy's charred face was filled with surprise. He hadn't expected that this Shorty was still alive and hadn't been eaten by his companions.
But then a chill ran down my spine. If the person in front of me hadn't been eaten, why hadn't his companions done so?
Was it so they could eat together when he woke up? No, that was absolutely impossible; he knew his companions were all extremely greedy fellows.
Even now, he hasn't found his companions; all he sees is Fran in front of him.
A bad feeling welled up inside him, and at the same time, he could sense his current state.
It was absolutely terrible; I felt weak all over, had almost no feeling down my thighs, and had to exert a tremendous amount of strength just to move my hands.
At the same time, several places in his body were throbbing with pain, reminding him that he was seriously injured.
When Fran saw that Jeremy had woken up, she didn't waste any time talking to him. Instead, she grabbed her Purple Shortsword and plunged it directly into Jeremy's chest.
"Ah--!" Jeremy immediately let out a shrill scream. He didn't understand why he was in so much pain. He had never felt this pain before, not even when a sword was piercing his chest.
This is the effect of Fran's Transmutation Studies. In Transmutation Studies, there are methods to paralyze the subject of Transmutation Surgery so that the surgery can be carried out smoothly, and there are also methods to enhance the subject's senses so that the subject can adapt to the new organs as quickly as possible.
This is also a method of interrogating the target, forcing them to reveal the information needed for interrogation while in excruciating pain.
"What is your purpose in coming to the Northern Territory? Why are you tracking those six people?"
Instead of stabbing the other person a few times and asking if they wanted to talk, Fran directly asked her question.
As a First Order Profession, Jeremy had his own mental defenses, but the excruciating pain in his brain made it difficult for him to think.
In his excruciating pain, he no longer had time to consider whether or not to hand over the information to the enemy who had killed their squad.
All he wanted now was for the pain to stop.
"We are Mercenary teams hired by the city lord of White Dragon Port... He promised the team that finds that item would receive at least ten thousand Gold Coin..."
All I know is that it was stolen by a group of thieves...
Despite his pain, Jeremy, after revealing this information, also disclosed the location of some hidden treasures and some things he had done to wrong his comrades...
