Castle Discussions
Upon entering Snow Bear City, Fran immediately identified herself as Battle Mage from the Northern Lands Society.
In the vicinity of the Northern Lands Society, these people still respected the reputation of the Northern Lands Society, especially after hearing that Fran was hired by the lord, they dared not neglect her.
Fran was soon taken to a castle, where Blake the Snow Bear greeted her at the entrance.
"Welcome, friend of the Northern Lands Society, Your Excellency, Mage."
Blake's tone was very respectful. He knew how powerful these Battle Mage were, and he also knew the strength of the Northern Lands Society, so he naturally dared not be negligent and immediately invited them over.
Furthermore, Blake had another matter he wanted to discuss with the Alliance: whether he could join the Alliance.
Now, he finally understands why he was so happy when the former lord joined the Alliance, and why some of the other lords were so eagerly anticipating his return.
Managing a territory yourself is too time-consuming. Why don't I just sell it to the Alliance and enjoy it myself?
He had heard that the previous lord received a thousand Gold Coin as a reward after selling his territory to the Alliance.
However, he also knew that the chances were probably slim, since so many lords wanted to apply to join, and they were practically fighting tooth and nail for it, yet none of them had received a reply from the Alliance.
He's only having this idea now, so he'll probably be rejected from the start.
Blake led Fran to a lavishly decorated room.
There are three animal skull specimens hanging on the wall, and opposite the specimens is a picture of a person holding a knight's sword, who bears a resemblance to Blake.
The floor of this room was covered with a soft, but not too soft, carpet, which looked like it was made of some kind of animal fur.
Blake led Fran to a cushioned chair, then sat down himself and spoke first:
"My lord mage, I would like to ask when you plan to deal with that undead creature?"
"Let's leave tomorrow."
'So fast!' Blake was startled. He hadn't expected his opponent to be so quick. He had often heard that Battle Mage would take their time to finish a task.
For example, those Battle Mage might suddenly say:
"I've accumulated enough Battle Merit this month. I'll wait two more days, and when I get back it will be next month, and I'll have enough Battle Merit for that month too."
Such words are often used, and those who hire them can't really offer much advice or dissuasion; they can only wait for the other party to take action on their own.
Fortunately, those Battle Mage kept their promises and eventually resolved the requests.
"By the way, Your Excellency, could you please put aside the matter at the mine and stay here for a few days?"
"Don't worry, it's not about the payment..."
Blake had already prepared payment for the commission to the Northern Lands Society.
If his knights hadn't all refused to go into the mine to kill the undead creature, he wouldn't have needed to submit a request to the mages of the Northern Lands Society.
His knights would rather hand over their private property than go into the mine, saying it was too dark, cramped, and unsuitable for riding horses.
After all, he wouldn't dare default on payments to the Northern Lands Society, whose number of Battle Mage probably exceeded the combined number of knights in all his surrounding territories.
Not to mention that those Battle Mage are far stronger than ordinary knights, only slightly weaker than these lords.
Therefore, he would never dare to offend those monks in this regard.
He asked Fran to stay because of another matter, one that was also giving him a headache.
"What's the matter?"
"Here's what happened... Recently, many First Order Profession have come to my territory for some unknown reason, and soon, a group of followers of the Goddess of Ocean Currents will also arrive."
"These people are far too powerful. Even as a lord, I don't have the strength to deal with them."
"Therefore, I wonder if Your Excellency could stay here for a while, so that I can use Your Excellency's name to intimidate these people."
"Rest assured, Master, I will pay you separately for this matter."
Fran stroked her chin, pondering the matter.
Actually, when Blake mentioned the followers of the Goddess of Ocean Currents, she wanted to stay a little longer to see them, but that was after defeating the undead creature.
She had only ever heard of the believers of those Deity in the Material Realm, and had never truly seen what the believers here were like.
She wanted to observe other believers for a while before considering whether to help the Lord of Radiance develop believers in the Material Realm.
But Blake was clearly waiting there for the followers of the Goddess of Ocean Currents to arrive, so he could intimidate them.
She knew what was going on; the Profession pouring into Snow Bear City and the followers of the Goddess of Ocean Currents were most likely after the item that had been stolen.
Those Profession were probably after the bounty from the city lord of White Dragon Port, and since that item had the aura of the sea, perhaps these followers of the Goddess of Ocean Currents were after the item itself.
Blake's reason for wanting to use his name was quite clear: the other party knew the name of the Alliance and the significance of the Alliance mages on this continent.
Even if he leaves, Blake can still use the Alliance's name to deter others from doing anything too outrageous.
The idea is good, and Fran doesn't need to worry at all, because the Northern Territory is still too close to the Alliance.
Fran thought about it for a moment and decided that there was no problem in agreeing, since those people probably wouldn't harm Blake.
"Okay, but you must agree to my conditions."
"Please speak."
"Firstly, I'm only staying here for five days; after that, I'll leave."
"No problem," Blake readily agreed. What he needed most was Fran's cooperation. As long as Fran cooperated with him to do some intimidating things, Fran could stay for as many days as she wanted.
"Secondly, my reward is a bit special. I want one of each of the Magic Creature from the Northern Territory, alive."
Blake paused for a moment, not immediately agreeing to this strange reward, but instead confirming it first.
"Do you want those weaker Magic Creature too?"
"That's right, of course. If you can find the location of First Order Magic Creature, I can count you as one."
"I need about a hundred Magic Creature, which must be delivered to me after I've finished defeating the undead creatures."
Fran's current plan is to use her status as Lord Blake to collect these Magic Creature and gather some medals.
This is exactly what she needs; after all, having an affinity for ice elements is better than having none.
Blake thought for a moment and nodded:
"Can."
