You Can Exchange for This, Too?!
Fran glanced at it several times before realizing that she hadn't misread it; the exchange list in front of her contained exactly these items, without the slightest error.
"Is this true?" Fran asked in disbelief. Wasn't it said that there was no way to advance in the Battle Mage Corps?
How did it end up here?
After some thought, Fran realized why this method of advancing to the third tier was here; it was the Transmutation School that had placed the Promotion Method the third tier here.
Even if Fran were slow to realize, something was extremely wrong with the Transmutation School's actions. Was this still the same School she knew that kept its knowledge tightly guarded?
How come these School would still be putting knowledge about advancement here now?
If the Transmutation School were serious about applying this knowledge to this matter, Fran couldn't even imagine the uproar it would cause within the Alliance.
The mere fact that the Transmutation School has opened up its knowledge of Transmutation Surgery at the Northern Lands Society is enough to be astonishing.
This news will be far more shocking than Harbos ' Paper.
Harbos brought an academic shock to all mages, letting them know that there was another way to do things.
However, this move by the Transmutation School will send a shocking message to the entire the Alliance: the Transmutation School is going to stand with the Northern Lands Society.
This will most likely involve the Transmutation School supporting some of the ideas advocated by the Northern Lands Society, or using it to seek some gain.
This would be a political earthquake for the entire the Alliance.
Fran looked at the "Song of the Deep Sea" with burning eyes; it would take 25,000 Battle Merit to exchange for it.
A normal First Order spell exchange requires at least 100 Battle Merit merits, with a maximum of 1000 Battle Merit.
This was not good news for Fran. She didn't know how many Battle Merit she had in her account, or if it was enough to exchange for everything she needed.
All she knew was that the quest to deal with the Undead only gave her 1200 Battle Merit, just enough for her to exchange for a few spells.
With a mix of trepidation and excitement, she approached a counter and first requested assistance in inquiring about her Battle Merit.
While the staff were searching through the records, Nora spoke up:
"You've completed an overseas mission, which should be enough to exchange for at least two spells, right? I suggest you at least exchange for Greater Fireball; this spell is useful in any situation..."
Nora was still enthusiastically recommending spells to Fran, Fran only gave a slight response, keeping her attention focused on the staff member she was inquiring about.
After some time, the staff member finally arrived, carrying a copied note that said:
"You have a total of 31,200 Battle Merit. Do you want to exchange them for anything?"
The staff member spoke with a tone of shock, perhaps because he had never seen so many Battle Merit before. Usually, mages would exchange their Battle Merit as soon as they had them; no one would Battle Merit so many.
Fran knew that this was the reward she received after obtaining the box, which put her at ease, even though she knew it would give her a large amount of Battle Merit.
However, after seeing the ' Song of the Deep Sea ' exchange, Fran couldn't take her eyes off it, fearing that she would only get 20,000 Battle Merit, which would be unpleasant.
Fortunately, the rewards for Battle Merit here are quite generous, and they don't specifically limit the rewards to Battle Merit she can redeem.
After the staff announced Fran's current Battle Merit, Nora beside her fell into an eerie silence, looking at Fran with drooping eyes.
Her eyes seemed to say, 'You have so many Contribution Points and you still need me to recommend things? Why don't you just buy all of these things?!'
At this point, Fran had no choice but to offer an explanation.
"I was lucky. The destination of that large-scale operation was Snow Bear Territory, where I was carrying out the mission. I happened to discover the target there, so I reported it. I never expected to be rewarded with so many Battle Merit."
Fran Nora a bewildered expression. Nora even suspected that Fran had called her over not to discuss exchanging for some magic spell, but rather to show off in front of her.
Fran merely glanced back at Nora before immediately speaking to the staff.
"I want to exchange for that ' Song of the Deep Sea,' the one from the Transmutation School."
Nora hadn't looked at the redemption catalog carefully, so she didn't know this thing existed. Curious, she asked:
"Why are you changing this? It's supposed to Transmutation School's techniques, but you don't know how to Transmutation School those Arts. Nobody outside the Transmutation School knows how to do that..."
Throughout the entire the Alliance, the organ modification Arts of the Transmutation School are the best-preserved knowledge within the Alliance.
If you're not a member of the Transmutation School, then you absolutely won't learn this skill.
Other School, such as the Elemental School and a host of other long-established School, have also had some knowledge leaked out over their long histories.
The Transmutation School, having been established for less than a hundred years, naturally far surpasses other School in its ability to protect knowledge.
Furthermore, the Arts of other School share some commonalities. For example, they all involve casting spells, so why can't they?
The method of casting spells by the Transmutation School is quite different; they actually use various Magic Creature and organs they have cultivated to enhance themselves, which is quite strange.
This makes one wonder how the Transmutation School obtained its School and was able to openly recruit apprentices within the Alliance.
After hearing Nora's advice, Fran simply gave a polite smile, turned her head, and said:
"I'm quite interested in this one. Besides, I have so many Battle Merit, changing to another one wouldn't be a big deal..."
Nora was speechless at this statement, since what Fran said was indeed true. Such a large amount of Battle Merit could probably be exchanged for many second-tier spells.
She made a mistake when persuading Fran to exchange her points: she mistakenly assumed Fran's Battle Merit were limited. Fran's Battle Merit were likely enough to get her to Tier 2 with plenty to spare, so why save so much?
Furthermore, Fran doesn't need to make a choice anymore; she can simply buy all the spells Nora just recommended, thus avoiding any dilemma.
Fran's request caused the staff member's expression to change. Only after confirming again that Fran really wanted to redeem this item did he take any action.
"Please wait a moment, we need to deal with that item first. Please wait at least half an hour."
The document detailing the method for modifying the ' Song of the Deep Sea ' sequence is still in their warehouse and has not been opened.
This kind of knowledge is sealed with multiple layers of verification. If someone wants to exchange it, they must first contact the Transmutation School and obtain permission before they can make copies of the knowledge.
Although there is a well-established process for delivering the tokens to the redeemers, they were completely unprepared, so much more time is needed for preparation.
The two watched as the staff hurried towards the back door. Nora finally realized something was wrong and asked Fran:
"What did you change? Why is he like this?" Nora's heart was pounding. Seeing the staff member's serious face, she could tell that Fran had changed something incredible, but this wasn't Transmutation School...
"This is it." Fran picked up the exchange catalog and pointed to an item on it. Nora looked at it and was speechless.
Her face seemed frozen in time, stiffened at that moment, showing no sign of time passing.
After a while, Nora finally came to her senses, and she slowly said to Fran, word by word:
"You spent 25,000 Battle Merit to get this, and it might not even be useful. You could have exchanged this for a standard Second Order Battle Mage set..."
The further she went, the more excited Nora became, as if Fran had done something earth-shattering.
Nora's response was a dismissive remark.
"Don't you think this ' Song of the Deep Sea ' is interesting? It's something from the Transmutation School. Besides this opportunity, where else would you have the chance to learn such knowledge...?"
Nora was going to say, "No matter how rare it is, if you can't use it, then it's useless!"
But looking at Fran's excited expression, which didn't seem feigned, it was as if Fran was genuinely interested in this thing.
She suddenly lost all her strength and could only utter this one sentence.
"Whatever makes you happy."
The headquarters of the Transmutation School was now located on an island in the Ocean, which was closer to the surface. On this island, many busy figures could be seen hurrying back and forth.
Vernon, the Chief of the Transmutation School, felt a little pleased as he listened to the busy footsteps of the mages outside. Usually, these mages lived in the laboratory, but now they had to come out of the laboratory to do something very important.
There was a knock on Vernon's door, and judging from the force and frequency of the knocking, the sound came from his student, Scott.
"Please come in."
Scott pushed open the door and walked in, carrying a stack of papers. As soon as he entered, Scott said in a heavy tone:
"Teacher, someone from the Northern Lands Society has applied for the modification techniques of ' Song of the Deep Sea,' and as you instructed, I have submitted the approval message and sent it over."
Vernon tapped the table and said with some relief:
"Oh! Finally, someone has made the conversion. I wonder if a mage just happened to have so many Contribution Points to exchange for, or if Iris conjured up some Battle Merit out of thin air for people to exchange, leaving this method at the Northern Lands Society..."
"But I don't care what the reason is, since we achieved our goal from the beginning: to place the knowledge of the Transmutation School in the Northern Lands Society and let this knowledge spread..."
Vernon seemed to be talking to himself for a moment, then asked a question.
"By the way, what about that thing that our rivals are all fighting over?"
"We've confirmed it's a young Deep Sea Golden Dragon dragon, currently being transported here by the Northern Lands Society."
"Ha!" Vernon raised an eyebrow and continued, "No wonder they dared not send third-tier Profession to the Northern Territory; they wanted to keep us in the dark about this thing."
If Vernon had known that this was a young Deep Sea Golden Dragon, he would have certainly sent men to the Northern Territory to try and snatch it.
But Vernon didn't know this, and his Transmutation School was genuinely short-handed; the other side didn't understand, and he truly dared not transfer his own personnel to the Northern Territory.
Vernon then asked:
"How's that Harbos award thing going?"
Scott paused for a moment, then placed the stack of papers he was holding on Vernon's table.
"These are the opinions of the judges who made the award; the situation can only be described as neither good nor bad."
