The Great Battle (Part Two)
The moment Harrison saw the yellow sand, it completely blinded all his senses.
The golden sand surged toward Harrison, instantly covering his bare skin, eyes, mouth, nose, and ears. Not content with just covering him, the sand continued to surge deeper into his body.
Then he felt something pressing down on his robes.
Harrison is now blind, with only a black curtain over his eyelids; he cannot hear, as the yellow sand has blocked his ear canals; he cannot smell, because the yellow sand has no scent, and he can only smell the faint scent inside his own nostrils.
What terrified him even more was that the yellow sand tightly surrounded his body, so that he could only feel the pressure with his sense of touch, and could not perceive anything else.
He didn't know if he was still in the air or had already landed on the ground, or if the enemy was in front of him or behind him.
Even as he struggled with all his might, all he could feel was the immense pressure of the yellow sand!
Even though he bent his legs sharply forward, changing his posture, he still felt that omnipresent pressure!!!
What made it even worse was that the yellow sand almost completely filled his respiratory tract and lungs, making it impossible for him to breathe!
That uncomfortable feeling lingered with him, and no matter how much he struggled, he couldn't get rid of it. He could only feel his body's functions constantly being stimulated in this desperate situation, waiting for the fall that might come at any moment.
Instead, at this moment, his mind began to wander, recalling his situation and the fragments of conversation between Fran and Cyril that his brain had memorized.
He felt incredibly distressed and overwhelmed by a fear he couldn't resist...
From the outside perspective, after Fran's sneak attack failed, she had no choice but to activate [Heart of Quicksand], directly binding Harrison, the aerial target.
"Unfortunately, if that attack had succeeded, I could have used [Heart of Quicksand] to bind another person, making a one-on-one victory almost certain for me."
Fran was unaware that someone had warned her, causing her attack to miss, but that didn't matter anymore.
She looked down at Cyril on the ground, and only then did he show a slight reaction, revealing an expression of astonishment.
Fran's body sank with the momentum, and she used [Sky Strike] again, her body plummeting downwards. She then used Elven Swordsmanship to adjust her direction and unleashed a fierce attack on Cyril.
To Fran's surprise, as she continued her attack, she saw Cyril's figure become blurry, and when Fran's weapon struck the blurry figure, it missed completely.
The baseball bat slammed heavily into the ground, cracking the yellow earth and leaving a charred crater in the center of the impact.
Fran looked up and saw that Cyril was already behind Matthew, and the previously blurry figure had disappeared.
Cyril's face was somewhat pale, as if the action just now had greatly exhausted him. He bit his lip and said:
"She's the one who wants to Trial this Trial."
Seeing Fran's actions and the intense Sunflame on her weapon, Cyril had this thought.
Combined with the previous changes in the positions of all the Proxy, Cyril almost instantly guessed Fran's identity and what she wanted to do.
He didn't know how the other party, possessing the identity of a god's Proxy, could obtain the Sunflame Knight Profession.
But one thing he was very clear about was that Fran was determined to succeed in this Trial.
The fact that the other party is acting as Proxy will prevent Fran from being attacked by other Proxy at the beginning, and will also allow Fran to blend into the group of Proxy.
Moreover, if Cyril is not mistaken, every Proxy is now in a nearly deserted position when they arrive at the Trial.
Cyril could even imagine that Fran killed every single Proxy she encountered before meeting their team.
This made his breathing quicken slightly, and he immediately took action, conveying this message through his bloodline to the surrounding Dragon Clan.
"Kill this woman's Proxy immediately, or we won't be able to complete the task assigned by the Deity."
After delivering this message, Cyril began preparing for battle, but Matthew, upon receiving the message, did not act immediately. Instead, he turned to Cyril and asked a question.
"She wanted to kill us."
Cyril was puzzled as to why Matthew would ask such an obvious question. Didn't he see the various Arts emanating from Fran's hands? But he still answered:
"She's going to kill us. Don't ask any more questions, she's attacking..."
Fran launched the first attack, a tiny, fiery red sphere appearing in her palm. The sphere then shattered before their very eyes, unleashing several rays of light towards them.
"This is Flame Ray." Cyril immediately recognized it as a standard First Order spell, [Flame Ray].
However, Cyril was puzzled by the way the ray appeared: firstly, the ray should have been fired directly at the moment the spell was cast, instead of first manifesting as a sphere.
Secondly, the Flame Ray attacked directly with almost no time to guide it, which is very unusual.
The other party is Proxy of a Deity. Logically speaking, their mastery of the Flame Ray might simply be something they acquired during their exploration of the Spirit Realm.
However, it is almost impossible to obtain spells from the Spirit Realm without channeling time; only the mages of the Alliance can cast spells quickly through various techniques.
Thirdly, Cyril sensed a familiar fluctuation within the flames of this Flame Ray.
Without time to think further, Cyril swept his hand in front of him, and a transparent, blurry curtain appeared before Cyril.
The flames shot straight up onto the curtain, and although they didn't penetrate it, the familiar sensation emanating from it shocked Cyril.
"This really is Dragon Flame."
He turned his head to look to the side. Matthew did not dodge the attack, but instead extended a huge wall of wings from the sleeve of his black robe.
That's right, feathers sprouted from Matthew's cuffs, and these black feathers grew rapidly, directly blocking the attack for Matthew.
The black feathers burned fiercely. Matthew reacted quickly, realizing there was something wrong with the flames. He then extended a carapace-like scythe with his other hand and severed the other arm, cutting off a portion of the black sleeve as well.
Although somewhat surprised by Matthew's abilities, Cyril decided to focus on the battle at hand first.
"Go up and intercept them for me, I need to channel a divine spell."
"Good."
Without a word, Matthew stretched out his legs, causing the hem of his black robe to rise rapidly. Then, with a push from his back foot, Matthew's body flew out.
Upon closer inspection, Matthew's outstretched foot was actually something with three claws and a slightly narrow foot, completely unlike a human foot or a dragon's hind leg.
Fran did not dodge Matthew's attack.
She leaned forward, gripping the baseball bat in one hand and beginning to Channeling Spell with the other.
A slender claw extended from Matthew's shorter sleeve, its surface gleaming with a steely coldness.
He raised his claws high and then slashed fiercely at Fran. Fran immediately cast Shield Spell with her other hand, placing it on her baseball bat.
The Shield Spell she cast was infused with too much Mental Power, causing Shield Spell to explode the instant it hit the baseball bat.
This is a little trick from the Sword Chant School [Counter Shield], although the Sword Chant School is not as good at using spells to bombard the enemy as a typical mage.
However, in close combat, they are adept at using unusual spells to gain an advantage.
Matthew's claws didn't even touch the shield on Fran's bat before being knocked back by the impact of the membrane that suddenly appeared and disappeared.
He felt as if his hand was being held down by a tremendous force, almost beyond his control; his claws shot towards his head, then retreated backward.
This massive movement caused him to lose his balance instantly, and before he could regain his footing, both arms were raised high, exposing his vulnerable abdomen.
Fran pressed her advantage, the red light on her bat shining even brighter, and with a twist of her body, she swung it horizontally at Matthew.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Matthew, after being struck by that Sunflame -infused attack, was practically half-dead, making it difficult for him to launch any further attacks.
"Potent Slow."
At the critical moment, a voice appeared directly in Fran's ear, causing Fran to slow down slightly, as if some force was pressing down on Fran's hand.
But in the next second, Fran broke through the suppression of this power and swung her weapon at Matthew again.
But it was too late. Matthew reacted almost instantly, his abdomen bulging as if something was about to burst out of his black robe.
After Fran's Sunflame struck the bulging abdomen, although it penetrated a little deeper, a force still managed to deflect Fran's weapon out.
Fran looked closely and saw a green, gelatinous substance emerging from the tear in Matthew's black robe; it was this substance that deflected Fran's attack.
Fran looked at Cyril in the distance. There was a patch of skin on his face that was slightly wrinkled, like a page of a book, as if it could be torn off with a single stroke.
This is the Proxy ability granted to Cyril by the Dragon of Scrolls. All followers of the Dragon of Scrolls possess the ability to record the Arts they witness and later release them through the pages of the book.
Of course, it's not something you can record just by seeing it once. Often, you need to have some understanding of the Arts before you can record it.
While a normal follower of the Dragon of Scrolls can only possess a limited number of pages, Cyril is different; he is the Dragon of Scrolls's Proxy.
He not only possesses more pages for recording, but also has access to the books recorded by the Dragon of Scrolls itself, from which he can select suitable Arts to record on his own pages.
It can be said that, as the Proxy of the Dragon of Scrolls, he is the person with the most Arts in the world.
With the support of numerous Arts, he was able to use many Arts that could influence the course of a battle.
Cyril looked at Fran. As long as Fran didn't kill him immediately, the various Arts he unleashed would be enough to defeat Fran.
