An Interlude
"What are you waiting for? Let's go!"
The Lord of Radiance sensed that Fran was still standing in the same spot, so He couldn't help but speak up to remind her.
"Where are we going? I don't remember Ophelia telling me what to do after I get here."
"Ah?!"
"What I mean is, when she arranged to meet me here, she didn't mention that it was such a big place with so many people."
"At the time, I thought that when I arrived here, there would only be a few people, and she would be waiting here..."
Fran scanned the surrounding crowd with her gaze. With her improved physique after advancing to the second tier, she could easily determine that Ophelia was not here at all.
"So what should we do?"
Fran looked around and saw only a crowded mass of people, with the entrance to the building being the most densely packed area in front of them.
Fran touched her chin, as if she had thought of something.
"It seems there's something special about the entrance here..."
A guess flashed through Fran's mind, and she walked straight up, following the crowd to the entrance.
When she was outside, she didn't see what was at the entrance; it was all blocked by the crowd.
But once she got a little closer, she knew exactly what was inside the entrance.
A light screen appeared at the entrance of the building, and anyone who walked in disappeared the moment they came into contact with it.
Fran herself had studied the spells of the Law School, but because she hadn't had enough time, she hadn't mastered them, so she couldn't become Law School Law School Profession.
However, when Fran stood in front of this light screen, she clearly sensed the various functions contained within it.
This is a screening device that, once someone enters, changes their position based on the screening results, transporting them to another location.
This "other place" is the interior of this building. Fran was certain that if she went in, she would enter the building itself, based on the magical fluctuations above.
"But I've never had any information here, and if I were to go in, I'd only end up in the most basic kind of place."
"How will Ophelia find me under these circumstances?"
"Unless, this light screen is programmed so that all the Proxy of the Deity will come to a certain place..."
Fran blinked, then asked the Lord of Radiance within the necklace.
"If something happens, can you save me?"
"That's for sure. Although this realm feels a bit strange to operate, it is ultimately a realm of the Spirit Realm, so don't worry."
Fran took a deep breath, then stepped forward and touched the light screen with her hand.
Almost instantly, she felt her position change, and the surroundings became quiet.
The first thing that caught her eye was a luxuriously decorated room.
The walls were adorned with ornate weapons and equipment. In the center of the room were several chairs bearing the Alliance crest, and in the middle of the chairs was a large blue plant placed on a table.
Fran stepped forward and touched the blue plant. Its blue-green leaves and pale blue flowers, not yet in full bloom, overlapped on the branches, bearing the marks of frequent pruning.
Fran looked around but didn't see anyone.
"This looks like a reception room. The screening system should have identified me, but why is there no one here..."
Just as Fran was wondering, a knock sounded on the door, and then a soft voice came out as the door opened, accompanied by a hint of anxiety.
"I'm sorry, guest, for some reason the identification system here malfunctioned and failed to teleport you to your reserved room as soon as you arrived in the realm..."
A man in a mage's robe pushed open the door and entered. Judging from his aura, he was a First Order Mage.
The other person looked uneasy; it seemed the system malfunction had put them under considerable pressure.
Indeed, he knew the person before him was a distinguished guest, whose identity information had already been entered into the Alliance's program.
In other words, this error affected the Alliance's official organization; this was a meeting pre-arranged by the Alliance.
This kind of meeting is the highest level in the entire system, and if something goes wrong at this level, he almost wet himself the moment it happened.
What made him even more nervous was that this system was created by a prominent figure within the Law School, and if it were discovered that the system was flawed, they would not escape a thorough investigation.
If it turns out that the mistake was made by these operators, then he might lose the job he worked so hard for.
"Should I be teleported to a designated room the moment I arrive in this realm?"
"Yes... I'm sorry, I don't know why the recognition system malfunctioned and dropped you off in the plaza below..."
Fran frowned, then relaxed her brow, and continued:
"Then now..."
"I'll lead you there right away."
The man hurriedly led the way, afraid of missing the opportunity.
Fran followed behind, and she vaguely guessed why she couldn't find Ophelia.
Logically speaking, Ophelia should have already reported her characteristics so that once the system here recognizes her as the Proxy of the Lord of Radiance, it can directly take her to the designated room.
But the truth is, Fran wasn't taken to a room; instead, she was thrown directly into the square. There must be something on her that caused the system to misidentify her.
What makes Fran truly unique is her multiple Profession; even the title of the Lord of Radiance's Proxy pales in comparison.
She is both a mage and Proxy of the Lord of Radiance, and judging from the robes worn by the man in front of her, this place is probably still under the jurisdiction of the Alliance.
Even without asking, Fran was certain that if a mage came to this Radiance Domain, they would be teleported to a designated room.
However, because she possesses two distinct identity characteristics, and the system has not yet been able to process targets with both characteristics.
In the end, the system could only treat her as an ordinary person entering the realm and placed her in the plaza.
This was Fran's guess; she estimated that the truth was roughly the same as her assumption...
Even knowing this, Fran made no attempt to do anything about it.
She knew that having two Profession characteristics identified about her might help some mages find the cause of the system malfunction.
But she was certain that the other party would focus on what Fran possessed that could disguise her Profession.
Just as Ophelia could disguise herself as Proxy to enter the Trial, why couldn't she, as Proxy of the Deity, disguise herself in the opposite way?
Given that the mage has his own methods of disguise, he would naturally extrapolate from his own experience and think that Fran might have similar methods.
They would never have imagined that Fran actually had two Profession; that was too far-fetched and impossible.
If a mage were to propose this idea, he might be refuted by his fellow mages, who would provide evidence of various experiments demonstrating that Profession cannot coexist in the same person, leaving the mage speechless.
In conclusion, Fran doesn't need to do anything; if she tries to do anything, she might give herself away...
Fran followed the man with a smile, without saying a word, until the two arrived at a door that was clearly different from the others.
The door is engraved with a staff symbol representing the Alliance, indicating that this is a private room for the Alliance. The door itself is blue.
"Please come in, guest. The representatives of the Alliance are inside."
Fran went inside and saw a figure that was both unexpected and yet perfectly logical— Tristan, the Fran didn't know was the Proxy of which Deity during the Trial of the Sun.
The members of the Proxy group that Fran finally dealt with.
Even though this person was right there, Fran showed no sign of panic, because she was certain that none of the Proxy realized she was the murderer when she made her move.
She looked around the room; besides Tristan and Ophelia, there were three other mages in robes.
Fran could easily tell from the auras of the two that they were First Order Mage, but Fran couldn't detect any information from the mage in the red robe in the corner of the room.
Furthermore, the other person had their head down, and the hood of their robe covered their face, making it impossible for Fran to see their identity.
"Is he Third Order Mage or higher?" Fran couldn't discern the opponent's aura, which often happened when encountering high-level mages; some mages preferred to conceal their Order from their opponents.
"Not necessarily. It's also possible that a Second Order Mage used some kind of concealment spell."
Fran glanced at it briefly before turning her head away, ignoring it completely, because no matter how high the mage's Order was, it was useless to her.
Because this is the Spirit Realm, not to mention that a non- Spirit Realm Profession would find it difficult to attack Spirit Realm Profession here.
Behind Fran was the Lord of Radiance, and she believed that the Lord of Radiance was here not only willing to help, but also capable of doing so.
"Welcome, Proxy of the Lord of Radiance. I'm sorry, the system here seems to be malfunctioning, which is why you weren't teleported here directly."
A hint of unease appeared on Ophelia's face; she also felt that it was quite embarrassing for the Alliance's system to malfunction under these circumstances.
Fran found a nearby chair, sat down, and looked at Tristan.
"It's nothing serious; after all, nothing can be guaranteed to be error-free."
"But there's one thing you must explain to me, or I'll just leave..."
Ophelia frowned, knowing that this was Fran's way of putting pressure on her before the negotiations, in order to put herself in a more advantageous position.
She spread her hands, gesturing for Fran to continue.
Fran's face was solemn as she slowly said:
"You'd better explain to me why you still need to come to me when you already have an Proxy as an ally..."
