Trouble
"My Proxy, there have been some problems on the Battlefield ahead..."
Brian arrived at Fran's laboratory and spoke to Fran.
Fran looked at Brian across the table, slightly raised her head, and slowly asked.
"What happened?"
Brian took a while to organize his thoughts before continuing.
"It happened in Wolf Fang Territory. Didn't you arrange for those believers to throw those small Stone Tablet into the town center...?"
"And you also instructed the believers to keep the Stone Tablet safe and not let anyone else near it."
Those Stone Tablet are sealed [Self-Establishment Decree]. They can be activated simply by being thrown on the ground, allowing believers to maintain order according to the established laws.
If this is maintained for just a few days, and the commoners accept the new order and the territory officially comes under Fran's control, a new momentum will naturally form, making these commoners a source of labor that she can mobilize.
This process is very familiar to believers; they know it by heart, and it's relatively simple.
This management method suited their needs for missionary work, and they found it quite convenient to use.
So even though Fran and Elan no longer go to the newly occupied towns, the believers can still arrange everything.
"But just recently, or rather, this morning."
"My Proxy, you said to treat those people in robes and wearing special insignia with courtesy, and to avoid conflict unless absolutely necessary..."
"So when that person flew down from the sky, the believers didn't dare to stop him; they could only watch as he placed the Stone Tablet in his hand..."
"Then he played with the Stone Tablet for a moment, and then flew into the sky and left."
Brian spoke cryptically, but Fran knew that the mage Sean probably didn't intend for these low-level Profession to disturb him.
He estimated that he had released his immense spiritual energy before falling from the sky.
Those guarding the Stone Tablet were probably apprentice-level Profession; their level was too low, so they probably didn't realize where Sean's intimidating aura came from.
They estimated that all they could feel from Sean was a tremor in their hearts, a frantic surge of fear overwhelming their minds, leaving them completely unable to move.
However, Fran didn't take this to heart. After all, no matter how many believers there were, without Third Order Professional, they couldn't stop Sean, a Third Order Mage.
"Do not confront him; tell all believers what that person looks like..."
As for that person...
Fran frowned; she was quite displeased with Sean's behavior.
Every mage should feel annoyed by Fran's current situation.
Fran had already explained it to Sean last time; she was conducting an experiment in Antir, and the scope of this experiment was roughly across the entire Antir.
The mages of the Alliance all know this: it's best not to interfere when other mages are conducting experiments.
This is both a matter of etiquette and an unspoken rule among monks.
The mages considered their experiments to be a very private matter, and any mage who inquired about the experiments of other mages was considered immoral, regardless of the reason.
Sean's behavior undoubtedly crossed the line. If it weren't so difficult to define, Fran would have immediately called the Alliance's Investigator.
"If he comes next, let me know immediately."
Fran's men weren't entirely helpless against Sean; it would be a success if they didn't fall immediately.
Only she can handle Sean's matter; only she has the ability and the status to do so.
Brian nodded, agreeing to the arrangement.
Fran remained in the lab, finding the whole thing unbelievable; she couldn't understand why Sean would cause her trouble.
"Logically speaking, Sean shouldn't know that I killed his son..."
"And even if they knew, they shouldn't have used this method..."
Even if Connor is the child of a Third Order Mage and a second-tier knight, he is still just a knight, not a mage.
Even a simple investigation back then would have revealed that Fran did not provoke the incident.
A mage who commits murder outside the Alliance's borders due to provocation should not be subject to punishment by the Alliance.
So no matter what Sean does, it's useless.
If he truly wanted revenge for his child, the only way was to assassinate Fran.
If that's the case, then Fran would be even more thrilled.
Before she upgrades her Radiant Priest Profession to Tier 2, even if Sean attacks her directly, she definitely can't win, but she has a good chance of escaping or holding out until reinforcements arrive.
She was no longer afraid of Sean at all; if it weren't completely unnecessary, she would even like to confront Sean head-on.
"My Proxy, the person you asked us to keep an eye on has appeared again..."
Just half an hour later, Brian rushed in.
Fran frowned and quickly waved her hand, signaling Brian to explain the situation.
"It should be over in White Flower Territory. Someone in Flying Eagle Territory saw someone flying in the sky, heading towards White Flower Territory."
"White Flower Territory..."
Fran was slightly puzzled, but she didn't slow down and immediately rushed out.
The runes of the Sky Dragon, hidden beneath her robes, slowly glowed. With this, Fran took flight, like a missile launch, heading towards the White Flower Territory.
"The Proxy can actually fly like that person."
Brian followed her out, but all he saw was Fran taking off and disrupting the airflow. Then Fran's figure disappeared on the horizon, gradually turning into a blurry little black dot.
In White Flower City, Sean arrived before the lord's castle.
He became somewhat curious about the castle here, because, in his observation, only the castle of the White Flower Territory Castle had not been demolished.
But White Flower City differs from other territories in more ways than just that.
Sean looked towards the southern city wall, where a large section had been cut off and replaced by entirely black buildings.
Something enormous seemed to be vibrating inside those buildings; Sean could hear rhythmic noises and see a mixture of white and black smoke rising from above them.
Sean glanced at it a couple more times, then turned away. He quickly stepped into the castle, and before Finley could react, he was already immobilized.
Finley stared at the oddly dressed man before him, who was draped in a greyish-black robe that covered his entire body.
But when he saw the insignia on the other person's chest, he was so frightened he almost knelt down.
But he couldn't move at all, and he didn't know why, even though he couldn't feel anything affecting him.
Sean stepped forward, keeping three steps away from Finley, his hands hanging down, and began to speak.
"What is your relationship with that mage ' Lai '?"
"Where did those followers she brought come from?"
"Who are you?"
Finley instinctively asked back.
Sean hadn't prepared any torture spells for his enemies, and the large pile of spell scrolls he had on hand contained almost no such function.
However, in many situations, Sean doesn't need to use these professional methods at all.
"Answer my question exactly, my lord. There's no room for negotiation."
Finley suddenly felt a sharp pain in his right arm, so intense that beads of sweat appeared on his forehead and his body trembled three times.
"Ah..."
He groaned in pain, not knowing what had happened, but he felt it hurt more than if his hand had been ripped off.
"Answer my questions, my lord."
Although he was now practically deaf due to the pain, with only a ringing in his ears, Sean's words still reached Finley's ears effortlessly.
Finley still didn't answer. Although he didn't know what had happened, he knew he couldn't easily betray Fran.
Of course, there's a limit to this, since Finley is still very afraid of dying.
This limit was reached very quickly.
"I'll talk, I'll talk, can you please stop?"
Finley could no longer bear the pain; he felt as if his entire body had been spun three times in a blender, and blood was almost seeping from his forehead.
Just as Finley had calmed down and was about to say something, a voice came from outside.
"Put him down, Master Sean, you're hindering my experiment."
Sean turned around in surprise. Fran stood in the doorway, looking at him with a serious expression.
"How could it be so fast, and why at such a crucial moment?"
Sean's face was extremely grim, not to mention why Fran was able to arrive in White Flower City in such a short time.
The biggest problem was that Fran arrived precisely at the moment he was about to obtain more information.
In Astrology School theory, an event that is precisely prevented is not a good thing.
"Stop now, or I'll immediately notify an Investigator."
Fran glanced at Finley behind Sean; the man seemed to still be in pain.
"I'm sorry, Mage Lai, the reason I did this is because my prophecy tells me that something very important..."
At this moment, Sean decided to be honest with Fran. He had a premonition that he seemed unable to overcome the obstacle in front of him, "Lai."
"Sean, I don't care what you've prophesied. Now, please leave and never come near Antir again."
Fran's tone was very forceful, which made Sean freeze in place.
Fran certainly couldn't indulge Sean; she couldn't let Sean continue investigating. Once the affairs of the Radiant Sect were exposed, she herself would be finished.
If this were a routine experiment, she might have been willing to help, but it wasn't; it was a matter of life and death.
Sean remained silent for a while before taking action. He walked behind Fran, then went outside without saying a word until his figure disappeared into the sky.
