News of Other Professions
Upon hearing Fran's words, Ivan merely raised an eyebrow without much reaction, while Alwen reacted rather strongly.
"You can't be so hasty. I think the other Paper also have a good chance."
Alwen addressed Fran, but Fran remained adamant and even presented the specific content of her Paper, leaving Alwen with no way to refute her.
He was, after all, Alchemist outside the Alliance, and had no way of obtaining the specific contents of those Paper that had been nominated for the Gold Alchemy Award.
All he knew was that after the Gold Alchemy Award was awarded, he would use the special channels opened by the Alchemy School for visiting Alchemist to learn about the specific content of the award-winning Paper so that they could study Alchemist.
Therefore, he had no room to refute what Fran said. Moreover, although his mind worked quickly when Fran talked about mathematics, he did not fully understand it.
"Alright, Mage Lai, now you can tell me what you're looking for."
Seeing that the atmosphere of the conversation was getting strange, Ivan had to change the subject and instead asked Fran about her original reason for coming here.
Fran didn't waste any time. After clearing her throat slightly, she began to state her requirements.
"I heard that you, Master Ivan, seem to have some Promotion Method in Profession, so I'd like to see if I can buy some."
Ivan was taken aback. Fran's request was not exactly obscure, but it was certainly something that few people would even bother with.
Even a normal mage wouldn't know what use this thing would have if they bought it, and even if they gave it to their children or followers, the children might not be able to master it.
This thing only has value in the eyes of Profession who are eager for promotion, because their eagerness for promotion means they already have the qualifications for it.
If there's a lack of prior experience, then there probably won't be much of a rush.
"This isn't cheap, Mage Lai... When I was doing experiments related to the Profession system with my mentor in my early years, I did collect several Profession."
"But I think you also know that although these Profession Promotion Method are generally not used by ordinary people, their value is unquestioned on the continent."
Fran smiled and said slowly:
"I know, so I'm willing to spend some Gold Coin to buy this knowledge."
Ivan beamed with joy upon hearing this. He had gone to great lengths to help his mentor find knowledge for Profession advancement, but the experiment had ultimately yielded poor results, and all his efforts had been in vain.
"Then let's sign All-Spirit Contract, stipulating that after I sell you these Promotion Method Profession, I cannot sell them to other mages for a hundred years."
Ivan suggested.
"Also, let me make it clear in advance that none of the Profession I have are related to improving Mental Power. Many of them, like the Territory Knight, can improve physical fitness and gain some special abilities."
"For example, I have a variant of the Territory Knight Profession called the Destruction Knight, which can only be promoted from among the Territory Knight..."
Fran interrupted Ivan, who was about to continue, and said directly:
"You don't need to introduce them to me one by one. How many Promotion Method to Tier 2 Profession? Do you have any for Tier 3?"
Ivan hesitated for a moment, then said:
"There are three Tier 2 Profession and one Tier 3 profession. Are you sure you want it? The Tier 3 one isn't a good match for the Tier 2 ones."
"I'll take them all. Name your price."
When those words were spoken, Ivan felt overjoyed. What could feel better than spending a fortune to buy something nobody needs, only to have someone say those words to you?
Alwen, standing to the side, stared wide-eyed, unable to believe what he had just heard. His gaze toward Fran was now filled with almost unbearable reverence.
That was a sign of respect for the wealthy. Such Profession advancement knowledge, outside the Alliance, could easily be considered a family heirloom. Yet this mage bought four types without even blinking, and one of them was a third-tier advancement knowledge.
Now Ivan was somewhat undecided. He knew that he had spent about 15,000 Gold Coin to obtain these Profession advancements, half of which was given to him by his mentor.
The other half was paid by his parents, and he hasn't recouped a single Gold Coin from that part so far.
He also knew that this was a golden opportunity that he couldn't miss, and that he needed to make the most of it.
It's not like he could just offer 50,000 or 60,000 Gold Coin Fran would pay him on the spot; only a fool would do that.
Tens of thousands of Gold Coin is a considerable sum for Third Order Mage.
If he really sets an unreasonable price, he might miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
In addition, there are mages in the Floating City who know about other Profession. Although they are few, there are still a certain number. After all, there is a lot of information about advancement in other Profession just from the inheritance of the Mage Family.
Therefore, Ivan hesitated unusually when it came to setting a price, because he was unsure of how much to ask for.
Fran didn't urge him, but just stared at him intently, watching Ivan's breathing become more and more rapid.
Finally, after thinking for half a minute, Ivan gave what he considered a reasonable price.
Sixteen thousand Gold Coin.
After he finished speaking, Ivan slumped into his chair, staring at Fran, wanting to see her reaction.
Fran remained expressionless in the face of the price, only uttering a single, understated remark.
"This price is a bit high. I can't possibly spend 16,000 Gold Coin to buy this knowledge."
"That's enough for me to build a Mage Tower on the Floating City."
After that, Ivan's offer kept decreasing, making his expression increasingly unnatural, while Fran calmly said to lower it a little more.
Ivan hesitated for a moment, and seeing that Fran still didn't speak, he could only muster his courage and say with a somewhat displeased expression:
"Fourteen thousand, Master Lai... This is already lower than what I paid for this knowledge in the first place, it can't go any lower."
Although he knew that seeking these promotion opportunities for the sake of the experiment came at a premium, and that the portion given to him by his mentor accounted for half of the cost.
Of course, later on, he still had to find time to give back a portion to his mentor, since the mentor had also spent money on this aspect.
Regarding this price, Fran smiled gently and said slowly:
"That's natural, Master Ivan, it's a fair price."
Nowadays, this kind of knowledge for advancement has virtually no premium; this is probably the price they can be traded for on the market.
Alwen watched as Ivan, his leg trembling, headed towards the small room, seemingly to make a deal with a mage he knew—a All-Spirit Contract.
The idea that Profession advancement could be exchanged for Gold Coin kept popping into Alwen's mind, and he clenched his empty purse.
He realized he still needed to buy a lot of materials for the experiment left by his mentor, continue the experiment until it succeeded, or leave it to his students.
Regardless of the approach, this all requires money.
Money was also what he needed most. Just then, a bold idea flashed through his mind, and his keen senses locked onto it, unable to dispel it.
"Few people are willing to spend a lot of money on other Profession advancement opportunities..." he muttered to himself, but ultimately decided to seize the opportunity.
He looked up at Fran, and asked Fran in a slightly nervous and trembling voice:
"Mage Lai, do you need any more methods for Profession Promotion Method?"
Fran turned her head, her eyes lighting up, but then she thought she probably didn't need so many Profession, so she asked casually:
"You can tell me about your Profession advancement options, and I'll consider it depending on the situation."
Alwen chuckled and slowly said:
"Unlike that monk Ivan, I don't have a mentor who provides him with financial assistance. My mentor is already being considerate by not using my money, and I haven't received any other Profession advancement opportunities from my mentor."
"Therefore, I would like to sell you a Promotion Method in Alchemist, passed down from my mentor."
"I think this is Profession related to Mental Power; Master Lai would probably be very interested in it, right?"
Fran licked her lips, thinking of the Alchemist Profession on her Panel. She couldn't find any way to advance in that Profession Alchemist, so she immediately replied:
"Sure, could you tell me First Order promotion methods you have available?"
"They range from First Order to third tier; this is a type of Alchemist inheritance."
As he spoke, Alwen's body trembled, for what he was about to do was tantamount to revealing the Alchemist's Promotion Method.
However, the Alchemist Alchemy School probably already knew several Promotion Method, and his mentor left him nothing but the Promotion Method.
Fran's interest grew even stronger. She twirled her fingers and immediately stated her price:
"6000 Gold Coin...8000 Gold Coin, how about that?"
Alwen did not respond, but simply lowered his head slightly, indicating that he was not satisfied with the price.
"9,000 Gold Coin." Fran's voice turned cold, and she even used a slight hint of a Siren's voice, a subtle detail that Alwen did not notice.
"That's enough, she probably won't offer any more." A voice rang in Alwen's head, causing him to instinctively say, already tense:
"Deal." Only after the voice faded away did he realize, somewhat bewildered, that he had spoken too soon. His actual expectation was 11,000, given that his Promotion Method was more comprehensive.
"A pleasant transaction." Fran pursed her lips, her words revealing her delight.
Just then, Ivan returned excitedly with a copy of the All-Spirit Contract. He was about to sit down when Alwen stopped him.
"Ivan, could you buy me another copy of the All-Spirit Contract?"
