Resistance

Several sharp explosions rang out outside the room, the sounds of a battle.

Fran and the group of mages were unaware of the mages' specific arrangements, let alone how many defensive forces the Alliance had deployed here.

Therefore, when they encountered Third Order Professional like Nolan, they all gave up resisting. There wasn't a single Tier 3 professional among them; what else could they do but resist?

Furthermore, while some well-trained and coordinated squads of Second Order Battle Mage can defeat third-tier mages, it is clear that the mages present do not possess these qualities.

Even Fran didn't put up a fight immediately; who knows if any of the Attackers were Fourth Order Profession Holder?

If she resists and is discovered by that Fourth Order Profession Holder, wouldn't she be courting death?

Moreover, the Nineteenth Floating City has most likely already received the alert here, and it should only take them twenty minutes to get back at full speed.

If Fran and the other mages continue to stall for time, the Attackers will definitely be the first to run away.

Most importantly, the Attackers hadn't directly harmed them. If he had attacked from the start, the mages present, even if they didn't want to resist, would at least have thrown a few more fireballs.

"Very well, listen up. I don't want to see blood. Send two mages over here, and make sure they don't have any shields."

The mages in the office were in complete agreement on Nolan's request, and they sent out the newly recruited mages.

Remi and another mage were trembling with fear, walking very slowly. It was only when the dragon head next to Nolan roared, shattering the glass in the room, that they quickened their pace.

There was no way around it; Monica's previous work arrangements had naturally divided the office into two factions, and even the newly recruited mages were constantly complaining that their work was simply too busy.

"Listen, I'm going to ask you one question, and you two have to answer one after the other. I'll use soundproofing. If I find out your answers are different, you're dead, understand?"

The two nodded like chickens pecking at rice, and then Nolan began asking questions.

Most of these questions are quite simple, such as the nature of the department you are currently in, when the Alliance decided to launch the attack, and what the Alliance's recent plans are.

Nolan's interrogation method was simple, yet very effective; Remi and the other mage quickly revealed what they knew.

Nolan nodded in satisfaction. With this information, he could report back to the prince, who only needed an explanation.

Just then, a figure reeking of blood walked in, dressed in an all-black uniform, the greatsword in his hand still stained with blood.

"Brother Nolan, you have so many mages here, could I borrow a few?"

What do you want to do?

Nolan frowned. He didn't want to cause any trouble, so he didn't attack the mages, only threatening them a couple of times when they questioned him.

However, it is clear that this follower of the God of War is not the same as he thought.

"What else can I do? There are mages putting up a fierce resistance in that building over there. I want to take a few hostages over there to wear them down and break their will to resist."

"Put people under the city walls and threaten them. As long as you don't actually lay a hand on them, you can still shake their resolve."

"And if things are settled, they can just kill the hostages and enjoy the pained expressions on their opponents' faces."

"Ah... these are some little tricks we often use in battles back home, Brother Nolan, don't worry about having to pay Gold Coin to hear about them."

The mages present almost instantly lit up with Magic Glow, Fran even prepared to condense an elemental weapon in her hand.

But no one present made a move, including the figure in the black uniform.

"So, Nolan, how about you go and participate? It would greatly increase your chances of winning future battles."

Nolan frowned even more, glanced at the mage's position, and took a step back.

I don't care what you do, it's none of my business.

"Oh, what a pity, Nolan. You won't get to experience the universal solution that the God of War has bestowed upon us."

Nolan continued to retreat, leading his remaining Dragonkin directly outside the room.

He finally turned his head and slowly said:

"Here's a piece of advice: if you really want to do something, you'd better hurry. I don't know when the mages' Floating City will arrive."

"Of course I know that timing is crucial in war."

The follower of the God of War turned to answer, without even glancing at the mages who had already begun casting their shields.

Remi and the new mage scrambled backward, not even having time to cast a shield.

Meanwhile, Talia and Fran were already standing in the corner. Fran was holding the handle of a large weapon in her hand, and the wind in the air was blowing around, causing a lot of papers to fly around.

The other mages didn't notice Fran's actions; they probably thought it was some kind of spell being cast by another mage.

The black figure twisted around instantly, startling many mages who nearly lost control of the spells they were casting.

Magic Glow flashed like colorful neon lights in the small room, illuminating the dark face covered in numerous scars.

"Praise the God of War, I will bring him what he desires."

The black figure suddenly swelled, its body becoming almost three times wider, and a black halberd suddenly appeared in the air, raising the temperature of the entire room by two or three degrees.

A black blade flashed through the air as the figure wielding the black halberd looked down at the huddled mages.

"Oh, they've all put up shields? If I have to deal with so many mages, that'll be a bit difficult, but I only need to take down one or two."

Almost all the mages present understood what the other party was saying, and their bodies began to instinctively retreat. This instantly disrupted their formation, and a burst of laughter, as if they had witnessed something comical, began to fill the room.

Just then, the black blade suddenly appeared in front of the mages in the front row, leaning to the side with his halberd, seemingly about to unleash a sweeping attack. He deliberately paused for a moment, allowing the mages time to react.

Considering that they were only Second Order Mage and that their channeled shields might not be able to withstand third-tier attacks, they instinctively crouched down in the face of the impending sweep.

The mages behind didn't see the actions in front at all. After realizing that the people in front had crouched down, they panicked and ran blindly in the face of the attack, not even managing to properly channel their spells.

The last mage channeled his attack spells—fireballs, spikes, and green bubbling liquid—directly towards the black figure.

However, all of this was in vain for a Third Order Professional, let alone the fact that the mages were facing a third-tier professional whose strength lay in physical power.

Their attacks were thus dispersed in mid-air by the black halberd, and as the black blades were about to collide with the mages' shields, Fran finally stopped holding back.

A terrifying gust of air exploded around them, not only sending the black figure flying like a ball, but also blowing the mages around Fran into the air several meters high.

Fran needs a spacious area to fight her opponents, and having all these mages crammed around her is obviously not an option.

However, these mages all have shields, so they shouldn't cause much damage.

The black figure was unaware of what had just happened, but years of combat experience allowed him to push off the ground upon impact, flipping himself over to regain his balance.

The surrounding sheet metal was blown away, and the rooftop was nowhere to be seen; the battle was taking place in the open air.

The black figure warily watched the spot where the mages had just gathered. A violent ripple dispersed all the dust, and he saw a petite figure holding a transparent object that looked like a long knife.

The longsword was made of terrifyingly active Wind Element. Just its presence caused several straight cracks to appear in the surrounding land, and generated wind pressure, slowing down his progress.

The sudden surge of resistance from his opponents left him somewhat bewildered. Just moments ago, these mages were lambs to the slaughter, how did they become like this?

The sudden change made him hesitate, but in a battle at the third tier, hesitation meant missing a good opportunity.

Fran made the first move. She gripped the illusory longsword in her hand, and the wind pressure condensed to its limit, as if the surrounding air itself was being compressed.

The immense pressure made all the mages present feel their hearts pound, and by the time the black figure reacted, the whirlwind had already arrived in front of it.

He tried to block with his halberd, but he was clearly mistaken. Could he possibly block a fireball thrown by a mage?

At least he didn't have a specific way to block this kind of energy creation, and when the violent gusts of wind hit his body, he didn't feel much at first.

But then came the sound of a blade slicing through fabric, and his black robe was torn in countless places, with red scratches seeping from beneath his skin.

"Uh..." He felt that his body was completely unable to move, and his whole body felt like a balloon being inflated and being pushed outwards.

However, his body lacked the elasticity of a balloon, and the pain of his flesh being forcibly torn made it almost impossible for him to think.

Boom!!

Like stuffing high-pressure gas into a pipe and plugging the gap with cardboard, a violent blast of air erupted from his abdomen, tearing open a large hole from which a large amount of flesh and blood flew out.

The black-clad figure knelt on the ground, utterly shocked that he had been so severely injured in a single blow. Where had his powerful physique, typical of Third Order Professional, gone? Why couldn't he withstand the attack?

What's even more incomprehensible is why? Wasn't he attacking a group of Second Order Mage? Where did this attack come from?

Moreover, before the battle began, didn't that senior say that he would handle all these scattered Third Order Mage? Why did he still encounter one?!

The air shifted, and a beige figure appeared in the center of the Battlefield. Fran felt herself being stared at by a fierce gaze.

"I didn't expect to miss one; the mage's methods are truly amazing."
