After the Ninja Academy let out, Amada could hardly wait to study the mysterious Divine Mechanism Hundred Refinements.
However, he hadn't gone far when he heard a familiar roar from behind him:
"Amada, you stop right there!"
Amada groaned inwardly. He didn't even need to look back to know that Obito, still fuming after getting beaten up, had caught up with him.
He quickened his pace, pretending not to hear, and tried to disappear into the crowd as quickly as possible.
But Obito wasn't about to let it go. He shoved his way through the crowd and charged toward Amada, shouting as he ran:
"You did that on purpose, didn't you? Apologize, you bastard!"
Amada said with a smile:
"Sorry, Obito. It was just an accident. Don't be mad."
"An accident? Do you have any idea how miserable I've been today?"
Obito stopped in front of Amada, his face flushed red.
His hair was a mess from the fight, and a bruise darkened the corner of his mouth. He looked utterly wretched.
Amada knew Obito was still seeing red, so he'd better make a quick escape.
"You..."
Obito was about to say more, but before he could get a word out,
Amada had already turned and darted away like a nimble rabbit, disappearing into the crowd.
"You'd better hope I never catch you again!"
Obito shook his fist at the direction Amada had gone and shouted.
Amada jogged all the way home, panting for breath.
He shut the door tight and leaned against it, letting out a long sigh of relief.
Amada couldn't be bothered to rest. He crossed the room to his desk and took a deep breath,
calmed his excitement, then silently summoned the book Divine Mechanism Hundred Refinements from the system.
As the ancient-looking book appeared in his hands, Amada's fingers began to tremble slightly.
He carefully opened the book, and a musty smell washed over him.
The text was written in traditional characters. Although Amada could just about make them out, the contents left him utterly confused.
"What is all this supposed to say?"
Amada frowned, his eyes fixed on the page.
The book was filled with obscure ancient terminology and complicated diagrams.
To a "bad student" like him, these concepts might as well have been written in the heavens.
The more he read, the more lost he became. The eager look in his eyes gradually turned blank.
"Am I even supposed to be able to understand this?"
Amada sighed helplessly.
"Since the system gave this to me, why didn't it just teach me how to use it? It handed me a book and expects me to figure it out on my own. Is it messing with me?"
He remembered the power this wondrous art had displayed in The Outcast.
Whether it was crafting marvelous magical artifacts or strengthening the body through forging, it all filled him with longing.
The system had rated it as gold quality, so it undoubtedly had tremendous potential.
"Am I really going to waste such an incredible ability just because I can't understand it?"
Amada murmured, his voice full of disappointment.
He pored over the complicated text and strange diagrams.
The theories about Qi circulation and the transformation of matter tangled into a hopeless mess in his mind.
"If I were in the world of The Outcast, I might be able to learn the basics with a master or senior guiding me. But who in the Naruto world would understand this stuff?"
Amada sighed.
"Ah, I'll just hold on to it for now."
After a long while, Amada finally made up his mind.
He silently thought to himself,
I hope there's knowledge similar to Mystical Gate Dunjia in this ninja world. Maybe then I can apply what I learn to other things and figure out Divine Mechanism Hundred Refinements.
He carefully put the book back into the system's storage space.
After putting away Divine Mechanism Hundred Refinements, Amada's gaze fell on the ninjutsu scrolls his parents had left him on the desk.
These scrolls were also the most practical way for him to grow stronger in this world.
I've already learned how to gather chakra, but I produce it too slowly. I'm not like the characters in those fanfics I read in my previous life, where people travel to another world and supposedly have huge mental reserves and can gather chakra quickly. That's nonsense.
I can start learning ninjutsu ahead of time. I don't have to learn everything, given my ability to study, but I should at least master one technique. Better to focus on one thing than spread myself too thin.
Then Amada took a deep breath and devoted all his attention to the ninjutsu scrolls before him, each one carrying on his parents' legacy.
He slowly unrolled the first scroll. It was for the Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique.
Amada's gaze traveled slowly across the scroll.
"The Great Fireball Technique isn't too difficult to learn, but it does consume quite a bit of chakra."
Amada furrowed his brow and fell into thought.
His chakra reserves were limited, and he gathered chakra slowly. A high-consumption technique like this wasn't practical for him.
Besides, in actual combat, the Great Fireball might look powerful,
but its trajectory was relatively obvious, making it easy for an opponent to predict and dodge. That greatly reduced its usefulness.
At that thought, Amada gave a slight shake of his head and set the Great Fireball Technique scroll aside for now.
Next, he opened the second scroll, and the description of the Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique came into view.
Just reading the scroll's description gave Amada a sense of the technique's tremendous power.
However, as he read further, his expression grew increasingly serious.
As a B-rank technique, the Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique was undeniably powerful,
but it was extremely difficult to learn. It required precise chakra control and the ability to output a great deal of chakra.
More importantly, it consumed a huge amount of chakra. Even a Chunin could only just manage to use it.
"Looks like I'll have to give up on the Dragon Fire Technique for now."
Amada sighed helplessly and set that scroll aside as well.
Finally, Amada picked up the scroll for the Fox Mind Technique.
This genjutsu primarily used mental energy to interfere with an opponent,
trapping them in a simple illusion to confuse them.
"The Fox Mind Technique isn't easy to learn. It demands extremely precise chakra control."
As he read, Amada silently analyzed the technique.
However, it also had some notable advantages.
It consumed little chakra and could be cast quickly, allowing it to catch an enemy off guard and disrupt them in battle.
"My chakra reserves and the speed at which I can gather chakra are my weak points right now. This low-cost, fast-casting genjutsu might be a good place to start."
A determined look flashed through Amada's eyes, and he decided to begin with this technique.
He still had several years before graduating from the Ninja Academy, and he intended to make good use of that time.
He could save up for draws while devoting himself to studying this genjutsu.
Fortunately, most Uchiha had at least some talent for genjutsu.
As a member of the Uchiha, Amada at least had that advantage.
Even after just one night of practice, he had learned quite a lot.
"Looks like I'm not completely hopeless at studying after all. I do have a little talent."
Amada said helplessly.
