Background / History

Amada was initially an underperforming Ninja Academy student, described as the “Dead Last” in theory classes and unable to hit a shuriken target until his graduation year. He abruptly improved, became an accomplished Konoha shinobi during the Third Shinobi World War, and later joined the Anbu. 295

He developed into an elite swordsman and Sharingan user. After winning non-chakra duels against the Land of Lightning's representatives, he was awarded the title First Swordsman of the Land of Fire. 116 118

Amada infiltrated the early Akatsuki under the identity Amamiya, claiming Kirigakure had killed his comrades. He passed Konan's ideological test by blaming the Five Great Nations' oppression of smaller countries, completed missions, and earned Nagato's attention. 81 82 After two months, he escaped and reported Nagato's Rinnegan to Hiruzen Sarutobi, though his time with Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato left him conflicted over their friendship. 82

As Konoha's fear of his growing strength escalated, Amada ultimately defected after fighting Konoha's leadership and Root forces. He later operated independently while maintaining connections to Akatsuki. 150 154 155

Personality

Amada is composed, self-directed, and largely indifferent to institutional authority. He does not accept Konoha's Will of Fire as a personal creed and refuses to subordinate his life to the village's expectations. 118 162

He is cautious in experimentation, particularly when refining dangerous materials into himself, but becomes confident and aggressive in combat once he judges an opponent's level. 64 84 He enjoys challenging powerful opponents; his encounter with the future Uchiha Sasuke particularly excites his battle-focused side. 296

Despite his aloofness and ruthlessness, Amada has repeatedly protected or aided people he values: he rescued Konan, intervened to save Kakashi from the Evil God, mentored Pakura and Itachi, and patiently trained Naruto in shuriken use. 131 161 173 174 125 255 He also resurrected the shinobi killed during Kaguya's attack. 340 354

Divine Mechanism Hundred Refinements

A refinement ability that allows Amada to integrate materials, substances, and powers into his body or artifacts.
