The middle-aged man didn't believe a word Chen Ge said. He watched him warily, then pulled Zhang Ya over to his side. "Girl, is this man really your friend?"
"Yeah, he's my friend." Zhang Ya smiled ruefully. The scene before her was especially bizarre: a zombie was holding a Red-Clad Specter's hand while warily keeping an eye on an ordinary person. "Dad, Chen Ge just got out of the hospital. Why don't we go inside and talk? There aren't any visitors here anyway."
"Why do we have to go inside and talk? Have you been fooled by him? He walked into our haunted house like he owned the place. I hadn't even activated the mechanisms, and he already knew where they were. This guy must have been planning this for a long time!" The middle-aged man kept grumbling. Zhang Ya seemed a little embarrassed, so she forcibly pushed him into the haunted house.
"I wasn't finished!"
"Chen Ge, come in and talk." Zhang Ya led Chen Ge into the haunted house again. She had him sit where visitors usually signed the Liability Waiver. "There's bottled water on the table. Sit here for a bit while I go get my mom. If she agrees, you can work here."
"What do you mean, if your mom agrees, he can work here? I absolutely refuse!" Zhang Ya's father seemed to have little say in the family. While he was still speaking, Zhang Ya had already run up to the second floor, into the Ghost Marriage scene.
Chen Ge and the middle-aged man sat on opposite sides of the table. The man felt an awkwardness hanging in the air, but Chen Ge was perfectly at ease.
A little over a minute later, Zhang Ya returned with a woman who was slightly shorter than her.
