"Don't stand in the hallway! Run!"
Chen Ge would have ignored any other projection, but this spider projection was truly creepy. He didn't want to get up close and personal with it, either.
The other visitors saw the spider emerge from the room, and all the fear they had built up came rushing back. Their screams filled the entire scene. A few were so terrified that they froze in the hallway.
"Get inside! Hide in the rooms!"
Whether it would help or not, Chen Ge ducked into the third bedroom first. The police officer and the girl called Xiao Ling followed right behind him.
"Close the door!"
The door wouldn't lock, so Chen Ge and the officer braced it with their backs.
The hallway gradually fell quiet. All the visitors had taken shelter in the rooms.
"That should only be a projection. A real spider would make a sound as it crawled by, and it would leave marks on the walls." Chen Ge gestured for the officer to guard the door, then looked toward the offering table in the middle of the room.
"The child just now ran into this room." Chen Ge was certain the child wasn't a projection. It was probably just an Obsession. "An Obsession has to attach itself to something. Even in a place steeped in yin energy, it can't stay away from that object for long."
Bending down, Chen Ge looked at the toys piled beneath the offering table. "Is the Little Boy attached to one of these toys?"
He carefully inspected the toys, placing each one in his Backpack and then taking it back out.
He didn't find anything unusual. His method of testing was unconventional, but effective. If an Obsession were attached to one of the toys, it would definitely be afraid.
