Background & History

Tang San awakened Blue Silver Grass in Holy Soul Village, receiving Innate Full Soul Power. During the ceremony, he also secretly awakened a second Martial Soul—the Clear Sky Hammer—and concealed it from Su Yuntao and the other villagers. 1

He carried Tang Sect techniques from a past life, including the Mysterious Heaven Skill, Purple Demon Eye, Mysterious Jade Hand, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, and Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon. Curious about Soul Masters and soul beasts, he sought information from Ye Chen and proposed their first spar. 3

Tang San lost three consecutive spars against Ye Chen and his Blaziken Martial Soul. These losses forced him to develop his Blue Silver Grass, refine his movement and binding techniques, and reconsider how to combine his Tang Sect arts with Martial Souls. 5 7 8 11

Following Tang Hao’s instruction, Tang San committed to cultivating Blue Silver Grass first and vowed not to attach soul rings to the Clear Sky Hammer. He entered Nuoding Academy, where he became Yu Xiaogang’s disciple in order to develop his Twin Martial Souls properly. 12 18

In the Soul Hunting Forest, Tang San used hidden weapons, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, and a short sword to defeat a nearly 400-year-old Datura Snake. He then absorbed its soul ring, strengthening Blue Silver Grass and gaining its paralytic toxin. He also treated Yu Xiaogang after the venom transferred through Luo Sanpao’s backlash. 20 22

After learning that Ye Chen had defeated and insulted Yu Xiaogang, Tang San challenged him again to defend his teacher’s dignity. He ultimately wagered his complete herb knowledge, prepared the Herb Transcript, and fought alongside Xiao Wu; Ye Chen won the duel through Martial Soul Resonance with Combusken. 28 29 33

Personality

Tang San is persistent and highly competitive. Repeated defeats to Ye Chen damage his confidence, but he treats them as motivation to improve rather than accepting inferiority. He is especially determined to uphold the reputation of Tang Sect arts and prove the value of Blue Silver Grass. 10 12 18

He is secretive and calculating in combat, concealing the Clear Sky Hammer, carrying hidden weapons, and aiming for surprise attacks. When his Silent Sleeve Arrow is exposed in the Soul Hunting Forest, he chooses to conceal its true origin rather than reveal his past-life knowledge. 10 20 21

Tang San is deeply loyal to Tang Hao and Yu Xiaogang. He accepts his father’s restrictions on the Clear Sky Hammer and pursues a rematch with Ye Chen largely to restore Yu Xiaogang’s dignity. 12 28
