Building the Castle Keep

After Xuanye took power, the first thing he did was launch a massive construction project.

The capital of the Land of Fire was not established at the Daimyo Mansion. Instead, Xuanye chose Konoha, the village he had built with his own hands.

Large numbers of Earth Release ninja and laborers built an enormous Castle Keep in the center of Konoha to serve as the Shogun's office and residence.

Not a single person in Konoha objected to such extravagance. On the contrary, everyone threw their support behind it.

After all, Konoha would become the center of the Land of Fire, perhaps even the entire Ninja World. How could a place like that go without a landmark?

More importantly, Konoha had money now. A great deal of it. Funding a building was nothing.

And if they were going to build a Castle Keep, they had to build it big!

Ideally, it would be the tallest building in the Ninja World!

The old Hokage office building was demolished, and a purple-based Castle Keep rose in its place in no time.

Meanwhile, when the Ninja World learned that Uchiha Genya had abolished the Daimyo and proclaimed himself Thunderfire Great General, everyone was stunned.

In the past, Uchiha Genya had at least tried to keep his actions out of sight. He would put up some kind of fig leaf.

Now he had thrown caution aside. He had abolished both the Daimyo and the Hokage, taken all their authority for himself, and openly claimed the title of Great General!

To them, this was even more alarming than Sarutobi Hiruzen's murder of his lord.

Uchiha Genya was no longer merely testing the limits. He was openly challenging the entire system of Daimyos and ninja villages.
