Young Goku walked over to a flat rock, took off his soaked clothes, and laid them out to dry. Then he turned toward the fish swimming freely in the stream. An idea struck him, and he lowered his tail into the water.
His tail swished gently beneath the surface, like a natural fishing hook.
Before long, a large blue fish, much bigger than Young Goku, was lured over by his tail.
After a few forceful struggles, Young Goku dragged the blue fish onto the bank.
"What a huge haul today! What a haul!" Young Goku cheered as he carried the enormous fish home.
But the peaceful atmosphere was soon shattered by the sound of a revving engine.
"Bulma, take it easy! There's someone up ahead. Be careful not to hit them!" Zhou Zilong warned Bulma from the passenger seat.
"I'm just too excited!" Bulma glanced back at Zhou Zilong apologetically, then focused on driving again.
Young Goku sensed a powerful gust of air approaching and looked up. A car was rushing straight toward him. His heart jumped, and he tried to dodge, but it was too late. The rear end slammed into him and the fish he'd caught, sending them both tumbling through the air before they flew away.
"We still hit him. Zilong, let's go see how he's doing," Bulma said guiltily.
She immediately stopped the car, ready to get out with Zhou Zilong and check on him.
Just then, Young Goku stood up. He looked at Bulma and Zhou Zilong inside the car, his eyes blazing with anger. "You nasty monsters! You're trying to steal my food, aren't you? I won't let you get away with it!"
Just as Bulma was about to get out with Zhou Zilong, they both felt the car lift into the air.
Young Goku had raised the car above his head. "Die, you stinking monster! I won't let you get away with it!"
In the blink of an eye, Young Goku hurled the car away. It spun through the air, then hit the ground with a loud crash.
"You actually damaged my car! Now I'm mad!" Bulma climbed out of the car with a gun she'd taken from a Capsule and said angrily.
"A monster just turned into another monster inside its belly!" Young Goku exclaimed in surprise, clutching a red staff.
"I'm not a monster!" Bulma replied, aiming her gun at Young Goku.
"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!" Bulma fired several shots. The little boy staggered back several steps before falling to the ground.
"Ow! What kind of sorcery is this?" Young Goku asked, sitting on the ground and rubbing his head.
"Darn you! I'll teach you a lesson!" Young Goku shouted angrily.
He got to his feet, gripped his staff, and charged toward the car.
"Little guy, stop! We're not monsters," Zhou Zilong said as he climbed out of the wrecked car.
With a faint smile, Zhou Zilong extended his right index finger and casually tapped the staff Young Goku was charging with. There was a sharp ting, and the staff was easily deflected. The force of his charge sent Young Goku off balance.
"You're still too green to be a match for me," Zhou Zilong said calmly, his eyes warm and confident.
Unwilling to accept defeat, Young Goku stepped back and charged at Zhou Zilong again. This time, his attack was even faster, but just as ineffective. Zhou Zilong gave him a light tap, and Young Goku was sent flying again, crashing into a tree.
"Ow, ow, ow!" Young Goku cried, rubbing his forehead. He struggled to his feet, his eyes full of surprise and confusion.
"Monster, you win! You can have my fish!" Young Goku said helplessly, holding the large blue fish.
"Little guy, we're people just like you. We're not monsters!" Zhou Zilong said gently, walking over to him.
He reached out to help Young Goku up.
"Wait, let me check!" Young Goku warily took a step back and began examining Zhou Zilong and Bulma closely.
He walked around them, carefully studying every detail.
"You two really are people. Apart from Grandpa, you're the first humans I've ever seen," Young Goku said when he had finished inspecting them.
"But why don't you look like us?" Young Goku asked curiously, pointing at Bulma's chest.
"I'm a girl, so of course I look different!" Bulma said, sounding a little helpless.
"So you're a girl! Grandpa told me I should always be gentle when I meet a girl," Young Goku said innocently, his words full of sincerity and kindness.
Zhou Zilong and Bulma both laughed at what Young Goku said. They thought the little boy was impulsive and naive, but very cute.
"Since we're all human, that means we're friends!" Zhou Zilong said, holding out his hand to make peace with Young Goku.
Young Goku hesitated for a moment, but eventually reached out and shook Zhou Zilong's hand. A bright smile spread across his face, as if every misunderstanding and barrier between them had vanished.
"Little guy, what's your name?" Zhou Zilong asked, now that he knew who the boy in front of him was.
"My name is Son Goku. What about you?" Young Goku asked, his bright eyes blinking.
"I'm Zhou Zilong. You can call me Zilong. This is Bulma, my fiancée!" Zhou Zilong introduced them with a smile. His words made Bulma's cheeks flush, but she nodded shyly.
"Zilong, Bulma, come to my house with me. I'll treat you to fish!" Son Goku said excitedly, picking up the enormous fish and inviting them home.
"Sure!" Zhou Zilong readily agreed.
"Zilong, your martial arts are amazing. When I fought you just now, I couldn't even touch you once," Young Goku said on the way.
"That's because I've trained for many more years than you. I believe you'll catch up someday," Zhou Zilong encouraged him.
"I'll train hard. When I do, remember to fight me again!" Young Goku said happily.
"Absolutely," Zhou Zilong replied.
Zhou Zilong then used his scouting ability to check some of the current attributes of Young Goku, the original protagonist of Dragon Ball.
