Knowing Little Goku was safe, Zhou Zilong got up and walked toward Yamcha, wanting to end the fight quickly.
Seeing Zhou Zilong approach, Yamcha gave him a disdainful look. "What? Now that you know your strongest fighter is out of the picture, are you scared and coming to bribe me so I'll spare you? You big-mouthed fool!"
Zhou Zilong shook his head and replied coolly, "You couldn't even beat a hungry kid, so what are you picking a fight for? I haven't made a move because one strike is all I need to deal with you!"
Those words sent Yamcha into a rage. His face twisted with anger on the spot.
Zhou Zilong didn't feel strongly about Yamcha, the tragic figure of Dragon Ball. If he had to name a feeling, it was a little pity mixed with regret.
In his eyes, Yamcha was a tragic figure who began at his peak, only to fall from grace almost immediately.
Yamcha, a warrior who first appeared as a desert bandit in the original Dragon Ball anime, had respectable strength in the world of Dragon Ball. But he lacked the dazzling aura of a main character, and could only linger on the sidelines.
Whenever he thought he was about to reach the top, fate would knock him right back down. (He could never make it past the quarterfinals of the World Martial Arts Tournament.)
His fight against the Saibaman was especially memorable. Despite having the advantage in strength, he let his guard down and was blown up by his opponent. That scene became his most iconic moment.
His love life was even more lamentable. As the original author had planned it, he had already landed a beautiful, rich girlfriend and should have been on top of the world. But after a series of twists and turns, they were made to break up. By comparison, Krillin, Goku's best route to getting stronger—a close friend—was much luckier. He might not have been able to match Saiyans and the like in strength, but he was at least the strongest human on Earth, and he even married a beautiful woman. He was a true winner in life.
"How dare you look at me with pity! Don't underestimate me. I, Yamcha, am incredibly strong!" Yamcha roared furiously, his eyes burning with anger.
He launched another fierce attack, but Zhou Zilong continued to handle him with ease.
"The gap between our strength is too great. This ends now," Zhou Zilong said calmly.
Zhou Zilong clenched his fist and swung it hard. A powerful blast of air swept across the entire desert.
Yamcha was struck by the blast and sent flying. He crashed into a huge boulder behind him, shattering it before finally coming to a stop.
"Ugh!" Yamcha spat out a mouthful of blood and struggled to his feet. His eyes were filled with shock and frustration. He had never imagined he could suffer such a crushing defeat. Zhou Zilong, meanwhile, stood where he was, watching him calmly.
"Master Yamcha, are you all right?" Puar ran to Yamcha's side and asked anxiously.
"I'm fine. He was right. I'm no match for him. He wasn't just bragging." Yamcha wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and took a deep breath to calm himself.
"I could tell he was holding back with that last move. Otherwise, I'd have suffered a lot more than just spitting up some blood." Yamcha thought back over what had happened and realized just how huge the gap between him and Zhou Zilong was. He knew he would have to train much harder to catch up to this formidable opponent.
"I've learned my lesson. I'll come back for a rematch someday!" Yamcha took a deep breath and spoke. He knew he still had a long way to go, but he believed that if he kept training hard, he would beat Zhou Zilong one day.
"You're welcome to try anytime. But I'll say something harsh: you'll never get your rematch." Zhou Zilong replied coolly.
He didn't mean to look down on Yamcha. He was simply telling the truth. He knew he possessed strength beyond that of ordinary people, and it was nearly impossible for Yamcha to catch up to him.
"Hmph! Don't underestimate me!" Yamcha shot back irritably, then left with Puar. He knew that what he needed to do now was train hard and improve his strength.
"Good thing he didn't attack me back then. I'd definitely have died," Oolong said, watching the scene with lingering fear.
Just then, Little Goku emerged from the pile of rocks and excitedly ran over to Zhou Zilong. Looking at him expectantly, he asked, "Zilong, how did you do that just now? Could you teach me?"
Zhou Zilong smiled. "It's not that hard, but first you need to learn how to control your ki. Come on, let's go somewhere else. I'll teach you step by step!"
Zhou Zilong took Little Goku to a training hall created with Capsule technology. It was spacious and bright, with all the facilities they needed—a perfect place to train.
Zhou Zilong sat cross-legged on the floor and began demonstrating how to draw ki out of the body.
He held his hands apart as if outlining a circle, then slowly breathed in as his hands began to move. Gradually, a faint light appeared in his palms, and a small orange-glowing sphere formed between them.
Little Goku stared in amazement. He had never seen anything so incredible. Eagerly copying Zhou Zilong, he tried to draw ki out of his body. At first, though, he had no success. He kept feeling the ki darting wildly through him, impossible to focus.
Seeing this, Zhou Zilong patiently instructed him, "Goku, don't rush. To control your ki, you need to stay calm. Don't let yourself get agitated. First, quiet your mind and feel the ki flowing through your body!"
Little Goku nodded and closed his eyes to try again. He did his best to calm down and sense the flow of ki within him. Gradually, he felt a warm current moving through his body, like a stream winding its way inside him. Following its flow, he slowly moved his hands.
Finally, after more than an hour and countless attempts, Little Goku successfully drew the ki from his body. A small orange-glowing sphere, just like Zhou Zilong's, formed in his hands.
He opened his eyes excitedly, gazed at the sphere in his hands, and couldn't help cheering.
Zhou Zilong smiled approvingly and patted Little Goku on the shoulder. "Congratulations, Goku. You've mastered the technique of drawing ki out of your body. But this is only the beginning. If you want to become truly strong, you'll need to keep training and learning!"
Little Goku nodded, determination shining in his eyes. He knew he still had a long way to go, but he believed that if he trained hard, one day he could become a master like Zhou Zilong.
After practicing with Little Goku for a while longer, Zhou Zilong said to him, "Goku, you still need to build a stronger foundation. Once this journey to find the Dragon Balls is over, you can go to my master, Master Mutian, and ask him to take you on as a disciple. He can teach you more about martial arts!"
Little Goku answered obediently, "Okay! I understand!"
