Defeating Vegeta

"Bang!"

The enormous shadow crashed to the ground.

The terrifying impact caused a small earthquake.

"That's enough."

Li Feng had had his fun. It was time to finish the task.

So he casually fired a blast at Great Ape Vegeta's tail.

"Ah!"

Vegeta roared, but all he could do was rage helplessly.

"Whoosh!"

The energy blast easily reduced Vegeta's tail to dust.

"Argh—!"

Vegeta howled in pain.

His body gradually shrank, and the fur all over him slowly disappeared.

As his ki dropped, the pain from the attack intensified, making him suffer even more.

Vegeta's ki grew weaker and weaker. He could no longer even stand.

"Damn it!"

Vegeta complained feebly.

"Tap! Tap! Tap!"

Li Feng slowly walked toward Vegeta.

The helplessly raging Vegeta heard Li Feng's footsteps as if they were the tolling of a death bell.

He knew Li Feng could kill him with ease now!

Vegeta grew afraid.

"Get lost. You're too weak now."

Li Feng looked down on him.

"What!" Krillin and the others were shocked and confused.

But only Li Feng could decide whether Vegeta lived or died, so they could only respect his choice.

"What! You..."

Vegeta thought he must have misheard. Li Feng had actually spared his life!

Afraid Li Feng might change his mind, he crawled toward his spaceship.

Once Vegeta managed to get inside, his arrogance returned.

"Just you wait! Next time, I'll kill you with my own hands!"

"You'll never be a match for me," Li Feng said coldly.

"Hmph!"

Vegeta piloted his ship and sped away from Earth...

"Ding! Mission complete: Defeat the Saiyan!"

"Mission reward: Beginner-level Instant Transmission!"

The mission was finally complete!

Li Feng was thrilled. The most exciting part, of course, was the reward!

As he claimed it,

"Whoosh!"

A cool sensation swept through Li Feng's mind, and information about Instant Transmission appeared.

In an instant, he mastered beginner-level Instant Transmission. Using it felt as natural and easy as moving his own hands and feet.

"System, why is Instant Transmission divided into different levels?"

Li Feng wanted to know exactly how the levels worked.

"Beginner-level Instant Transmission works just like the Yardrat's Instant Transmission technique. It can take you to any place where you can sense ki."

"Intermediate-level Instant Transmission works like the Supreme Kai's technique. It can take you to a known set of coordinates without needing to sense ki."

"Advanced Instant Transmission can take you anywhere in any known universe, without restrictions."

Li Feng was shocked!

He could guess what the intermediate-level technique did, but the advanced one could actually take him to other universes!

That was practically invincible!

If he ever faced an enemy he couldn't beat, he could use advanced Instant Transmission to travel to another universe. Not even a God of Destruction, let alone Grand Zeno, could do anything to him!

"Advanced Instant Transmission consumes a great deal of ki. The host is still quite weak and cannot use it at all."

The system poured cold water on him, shattering Li Feng's fantasy.

Well, things had to be taken one step at a time.

Li Feng thought beginner-level Instant Transmission was already great. He could worry about the rest after he grew stronger.

"Li Feng! You're amazing!" Krillin exclaimed.

The Z Fighters, who had been watching from the sidelines, gathered around Li Feng.

"But now that we've let him go, he might be even stronger next time," Piccolo said.

"Don't worry. It's no big deal. We just need to get stronger," Li Feng encouraged them.

As they were talking, a powerful ki approached.

"Huh? That's Dad's ki!" Gohan sensed it and spoke excitedly.

"Hey! It's Goku! He's back!" Krillin sensed Goku's ki, too.

"Has Son Goku gotten that strong, too?" Piccolo sensed Goku's ki. It couldn't compare to Li Feng's or Vegeta's, but it was still far stronger than his own!

"Hey! You're all here!"

A figure dressed in an orange martial arts uniform appeared in midair.

It was Goku.

"Huh? Where's Yamcha?"

After greeting everyone, he noticed Yamcha was missing.

"Yamcha... He was too careless," Krillin said dejectedly.

"I see..."

Goku, who had been in high spirits, grew somber.

"The innocent people who died in the Saiyans' attack can be brought back with the Dragon Balls later," Li Feng said, trying to comfort him, too.

"That's true."

The heavy mood lifted at once.

"By the way, I sensed two incredibly powerful ki signatures earlier. One of them must have been Li Feng. The other belonged to a man named Vegeta, right? Where is he?"

Goku looked around but couldn't find Vegeta.

"I beat him and let him go. You're too late," Li Feng said.

"What? Why? I was hoping to have a good fight this time," Goku said with a frown. Then his spirits lifted again.

"Li Feng, how about sparring with me, then? I've gotten a lot stronger!" Goku's Saiyan love of fighting flared up again.

"Wait, Goku. Li Feng just finished fighting and must have used up a lot of stamina. That wouldn't be fair," Krillin said on Li Feng's behalf.

"Yeah, Dad. Uncle Li Feng must have used up a lot of ki," Gohan added, trying to dissuade him.

"It's fine. I didn't use that much strength just now. Fighting Goku now should be perfect."

Li Feng wasn't afraid of a challenge.

"No, Li Feng. It still wouldn't be fair. Eat a Senzu Bean and recover first. I want to beat you fair and square!"

Goku also realized his earlier suggestion hadn't been very considerate. He wanted Li Feng to recover first so they could fight on equal terms.

In the original story, Goku had even given Cell a Senzu Bean during the Cell Games. He cared so much about fairness that he'd offered one to an enemy as evil as Cell. There was no way he'd take advantage of Li Feng, his good friend.

Li Feng knew the fight with Goku wouldn't happen unless he ate a Senzu Bean.

So he had no choice but to pick one from the huge supply he had stored and eat it.

That's right. A year ago, Li Feng had traded fish with Korin for Senzu Beans. He'd taken some of them as seeds, and they were now growing at Dr. Brief's place.

Several acres of land were now planted with Senzu Beans.

His storage space was packed full of them.

Run out of stamina?

Impossible.

After the two of them ate their Senzu Beans, their ki returned to normal.

Goku and Li Feng moved apart, ready to fight.

"Are these guys battle-crazy or what? I give up," Krillin said with a sigh.

"Gohan, watch closely. A fight at this level will help you improve your martial arts," Piccolo said, speaking to Gohan as his teacher.

"Yes, Uncle Piccolo!" Gohan said, eyes wide.

"How strong has Tien Shinhan gotten after training?" Tien wondered expectantly.
