Background / History

Goku confronts Raditz after his older brother kidnaps Gohan. Though frightened by Raditz's power, he refuses to abandon his son and works with Piccolo to rescue him. He restrains Raditz by grabbing his tail, but his compassion is exploited when he releases him after hearing Raditz's plea for mercy. Gohan's rage then severely wounds Raditz, and Li Feng arrives to save Gohan and kill the invader. 2 3

Li Feng gives Goku a Senzu Bean, allowing him to survive and gain strength rather than die in the battle. Goku eagerly accepts Li Feng's guidance to train with King Kai, while also arranging for Gohan to train under Piccolo against the coming Saiyan threat. 4 6 7

After returning from King Kai's Planet, Goku arrives too late to fight Vegeta but immediately challenges Li Feng to a fair spar. He repeatedly escalates his Kaio-ken to compete with Li Feng's superior power, ultimately using Kaio-ken ×5 before being defeated and badly injured. 13 14 15
