Nowadays, it was safe to say that any Saiyan who could talk could recite it flawlessly in one breath.
Clap, clap, clap!
Saigo applauded and said with a smile, "Good! Very good! Uh!"
The two short phrases slipped out before he could stop himself. Memories of working in a factory in his previous life surfaced, and three strangely catchy but utterly useless phrases immediately began echoing endlessly in his mind!
Go away, go away, go away!
What a bad omen!
Saigo shook his head, casting those cursed, catchy phrases from his mind. Then he looked at Tarble, who had just walked over, and asked, "Tarble, would you like to try this secret technique? But first, let me tell you: each person can use this technique only once in their lifetime. And the earlier you use it, the less your strength may increase. This technique multiplies a person's strength. The stronger you are when you use it, the greater the strength it will draw out!"
"I've already told you the drawback. Now, what do you choose?"
Tarble's eyes shifted back and forth a few times before he made up his mind. "Thank you, Master, for giving me this chance to grow stronger. I choose to wait until I'm stronger."
Saigo nodded. "Good. I'm glad you understand! Do you resent me for not letting you train in the Gravity Chamber?"
"Master, I have no resentment in my heart!" Tarble answered without hesitation, his eyes widening slightly. "I'm grateful to you. How could I resent you? You made sure I didn't have to be sent to the Wild Planet. You freed the Saiyans from Frieza's clutches. You've made the Saiyans stronger and stronger. I can only feel honored, proud, and grateful to you!"
"Enough, enough! Did your dad teach you to flatter people like that?" Saigo was delighted inside, but his face showed nothing but disdain. "Does your dad have nothing better to do than teach you how to suck up to people all day?"
Tarble replied seriously, "Master, everything I just said was from the heart. My father never taught me to say any of it!"
Saigo raised a hand and barked, "Stop! That's enough! Recite the Five Internal and External Prohibitions Code for me!"
"Yes! I'll recite it now!"
"The New Era Saiyan Five Internal and External Prohibitions Code!"
"Internally:
Do not harm your own people;
Do not lose your temper without cause;
Do not show disrespect for proper etiquette;
Do not break the law or disrupt order;
Do not abandon your principles for personal gain.
Externally:
Do not hold back against an enemy;
Do not bully others without cause;
Do not kill others without cause;
Do not rob others without cause;
Do not insult others without cause."
"Reporting to Master: I've finished reciting it. Please give me your instructions!"
Tarble copied Bardock's stance and stood ramrod straight.
Saigo nodded in satisfaction and reminded him, "Remember, once you've confirmed someone is an enemy, don't hold anything back. Give it your all! If you can't beat them, call for help. Staying alive is what matters most!"
"Only by staying alive can you grow stronger and go farther!"
"Understood?"
Tarble answered firmly, "I understand, Master!"
"Starting today, you can use the Gravity Chamber in the Royal Palace Plaza by yourself! It's best to double the gravity every ten days. Remember, too much of a good thing can be harmful!" Saigo said, leaving no room for argument.
"Yes, Master! I'll obey. I'll train hard and become as strong as you as soon as possible!" Tarble paused before answering.
He also took Saigo's advice to heart.
Looking at the short figure before him, someone clearly suited to being a friend yet burdened with the weight of the entire Saiyan race, Tarble got the strange impression that Saigo was stooped beneath that burden.
Tarble secretly vowed to train hard and not let him down.
Then he would be able to shoulder some of Saigo's responsibilities.
Hearing Tarble's answer, Saigo was pleased, and even Bardock gave him an approving look.
"Captain Bardock, try transforming into a Super Saiyan now. With your current strength, you should have reached the minimum power level required. By the way, did you test your battle power before you came?" Saigo asked, turning to Bardock.
As soon as Saigo said Bardock could transform into a Super Saiyan, the other two pricked up their ears. They thought they must have misheard and exchanged questioning looks. Once Saigo confirmed it, delight and anticipation spread across their faces.
"King Saigao, I tested my battle power just yesterday. I'm ashamed to say it's only 460,035!" Bardock replied apologetically.
The day before, Bardock had already learned that several Elite Warriors had surpassed him in battle power.
Vegeta III was now the strongest person under Saigo!
"Oh? Your battle power is 460,000 now? You're improving quickly! Why the long face?" Saigo asked, perplexed.
Bardock felt even more ashamed. He couldn't bring himself to face Saigo, and answered with his head bowed and his voice low, "I've failed to live up to your expectations. Captain Vegeta and the others have surpassed me. Please punish me!"
Bardock looked exactly like a student who had done something wrong and was waiting for his teacher to scold and instruct him.
So that was why!
Saigo immediately understood the reason and chuckled. Then he said earnestly, "Captain Bardock, that's where you're wrong!"
Bardock abruptly raised his head, looking as if he were ready to accept his fate and meet his punishment with dignity.
Saigo found the sight amusing. "You need to understand something. Although I oppose the Saiyans ranking newborns, we can't deny that talent has some effect on how quickly someone grows stronger and on their upper limit."
"I'm sure you've noticed that, overall, middle- and upper-class warriors gain more battle power than most low-class warriors under the same training conditions. They gain a little more each day, and over time, those small differences add up until the gap becomes obvious!"
"Don't worry so much about comparing yourself to others. Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, to who you were before. Aren't you much stronger now than you used to be?"
Bardock nodded thoughtfully. He seemed to understand.
Saigo seized the moment and continued, "When people set their goals too high, they can easily lose confidence if they don't get the results they expected. That's your problem right now! This mindset is doing you no favors in your training. If you keep it up, it'll eventually crush you!"
He glanced at Tarble.
"You two, remember this: you can set yourselves ambitious goals, but I hope your greatest goal is to surpass yourselves. Only by continually surpassing who you were yesterday can you keep moving forward and achieve the lofty goals you once set!"
"You need to understand that everyone is different. In the martial arts, there's always someone stronger, always a higher mountain to climb. There are geniuses in this world you haven't even encountered yet!"
"So don't compare yourselves to others so easily. Compare yourselves to who you were yesterday, and you'll keep improving!"
"As long as you manage to surpass yourselves every day, you've already succeeded!"
At the end, Saigo added casually, "Comparing yourself to others can drive you crazy. Do you want to drive yourselves crazy?"
"If you want to die, then go ahead and compare yourselves to me! My battle power only passed a hundred million not long ago. If you want to die, hurry up!"
After saying that, he silently added in his mind: It really did only pass a hundred million not long ago—not even two hours ago.
It had just passed it by quite a lot.
