Background / History

Vegeta first senses Ye Ming's Super Saiyan power from his gravity-room training and becomes immediately interested in challenging the unknown Saiyan. He agrees to join Son Goku in a three-way spar at the Sacred World of the Kai, where Ye Ming overwhelms the two Saiyans despite their combined assault. Vegeta reluctantly agrees to fuse with Son Goku when they cannot otherwise contend with Ye Ming, but their Vegito fusion is also defeated. The loss forces Vegeta to acknowledge the immense gap between himself and Ye Ming, though it does not diminish his resolve to surpass him. 3 4 5

After Beerus's arrival and Ye Ming's battle with the God of Destruction, Vegeta seeks a stronger path than Super Saiyan 4. He travels with Ye Ming, Son Goku, and Son Gohan to the God of Destruction Realm, where Beerus trains him in Hakai Energy. Beerus considers Vegeta naturally suited to becoming a God of Destruction because of his Heart of Destruction. 13 14

As a Universe 7 representative in the Universe 6 tournament, Vegeta defeats Kale using Hakai Form and then overcomes Hit by shattering his Time Cage with Destruction energy. He later faces AF Son Goku, whose Perfect Super Saiyan 4 strength vastly exceeds his own. Although Vegeta awakens stronger Hakai Energy through his pride, he is ultimately defeated. 21 22 24 25

Following the tournament, Vegeta continues training in the Destruction Space. His Ultra Ego advances, he masters Super Saiyan Blue Evolved, and he integrates Blue into his Ultra Ego. Despite his arrogance, Vegeta is highly decisive in combat. He does not test opponents cautiously; against Kale, he attacks before she can transform, and against Hit, he uses overwhelming Hakai Energy to deny his opponent opportunities to recover or escape. 21 22
