Reke walked through the forest as if he were one with nature. Even with your eyes closed, you wouldn't sense anyone walking nearby.
"Hmm! Should I just fly out of here?" Reke looked at the unchanging scenery around him, tilted his head, rubbed his chin, and muttered to himself.
Then he shook his head, dismissing the idea. "Never mind. I'm not in a hurry, and besides, I should be out of the forest before long."
With his current battle power, he didn't think anyone on this planet could match him. He could easily fly around the whole planet without a care.
But for some reason, he didn't want to do that. He'd even reined in his ability to sense energy, limiting it to a hundred miles around him, afraid that the higher his hopes climbed, the harder he'd fall.
By walking step by step, he'd eventually make a full circuit of the planet anyway, and it wouldn't even take that long.
The planet was two hundred thousand kilometers across, but it was still far too small for someone with his battle power. A single energy blast could destroy it.
Though he appeared to be walking, he was actually maintaining a steady pace of five kilometers per minute.
He'd walked off and on along the way, and now it was the second day since he'd set out. He'd already covered the ten thousand miles of land he was familiar with.
He was about to leave the forest. He narrowed his sensing range again, keeping it to about a hundred meters around him so he could react if anything unexpected happened.
Thinking about it made him envy Kakarot a little. Earth had such a wonderful environment: not only did it have the most delicious food in the universe, but it also had the miraculous healing Senzu Beans and the ultimate cheat, the Dragon Balls.
"There's no comparison. None at all." The more Reke thought about it, the more dejected he became.
"Sometimes the gap between people really is bigger than the gap between a person and a dog." He gave a self-mocking smile, then put the thought out of his mind.
He'd been prepared for this ever since he came to this world.
His life wasn't so bad now, either. He was satisfied just to have escaped Frieza. At least he wouldn't die before he'd even gotten started.
"Crack!"
Reke finally walked out of the forest.
Before him stretched mountain ranges of all shapes and sizes.
Reke spotted the problem at once.
These weren't mountains at all. They were monsters, all of the same species as the one with a battle power of three thousand that he'd killed.
Reke's mouth twitched. He covered his cheek with a small hand.
"I can't believe this. So the first BOSS I fought was just a minor monster!"
Reke quickly expanded his sensing range and discovered that the whole area within ten thousand miles was full of these creatures. The strongest had a battle power of a hundred thousand, about the same as his.
"No way. Do I really have to fight my way through them one by one? You damn inspector, just wait until I run into you. I'll grind you to dust." After sensing the area, Reke cursed furiously, dragging the planet's inspector out for another round of verbal abuse.
"You bastard, this grudge is serious now. It's either you or me."
"Just wait. I'll get you one day. If I can't find you, I'll use the Dragon Balls to make a wish."
Reke's eyes blazed with fury as he spoke through clenched teeth.
This was obviously a high-level planet, and yet that bunch of idiots had classified it as low-level.
If he hadn't been reincarnated here and known to play it safe, then an ordinary Saiyan native would've been doomed.
What Reke didn't know was that the inspector really couldn't be blamed.
These creatures spent half the year asleep, which was why they looked like the mountain ranges he was seeing now.
The Scouter couldn't detect them while they were asleep, and they didn't actively attack other creatures.
Because Reke could sense energy, the creatures were impossible to hide from him.
Unfortunately, Reke didn't know any of this.
He really didn't want to fight his way through them. Over the past five years, he'd learned to control the Saiyan bloodlust within him quite well.
He no longer charged at every opponent he saw just to pick a fight.
The mountain range ahead stretched as far as the eye could see, filled with countless Rock Monsters. He couldn't even be bothered to count them.
He chose a direction where the creatures had relatively low battle power. White energy flared around his body, enclosing him completely.
"Rumble!"
"Whoosh!"
Reke didn't want to waste a moment. He shot off at once and, before long, had crossed ten thousand miles and landed on a grassland.
The energy around Reke slowly faded.
He stepped forward.
Reke hadn't gone far before the grassland's first welcome party came to greet him.
A group of wild beasts with lion heads and horse bodies charged toward him, their eyes bloodshot.
"Heh! I was just getting hungry. Perfect timing."
Looking at the beasts, Reke's eyes lit up. His grin widened until he was practically beaming.
He charged straight at them.
Before long, corpses littered the ground, and the survivors fled in terror.
Reke didn't chase them or pay any attention to the smell of blood in the air.
He fired an energy blast at one of the corpses, and the aroma of roasted meat soon wafted from it.
Reke couldn't hold back any longer. He tore off a horse leg and began eating.
"Mmm! You'd never guess that this weird-looking thing would taste so good."
He polished off the horse leg in two or three bites, his taste buds fully awakened, and let out an appreciative sigh.
Then he bent his head and got back to eating.
One by one, the corpses on the ground disappeared. An hour later, he'd eaten every corpse within ten meters of him. He lay on the grass with a bulging belly and let out a deeply satisfied burp.
"I can't eat another bite. I'm stuffed!"
After lying down for another half hour, Reke got up and prepared to begin his basic training for the day.
He balanced upside down on his right index finger, clasped his left hand behind his back, and began doing push-ups.
"1...999...5000...10000"
After training all ten fingers, he went farther away, found a ten-ton rock, hoisted it onto his back, and began moving forward in frog jumps.
Though Reke carried a ten-ton weight, the ground didn't tremble at all when he landed. His body absorbed the impact completely.
Along the way, he encountered groups of different wild beasts. When they saw the small mountain on Reke's back from far away, they avoided him well in advance. Not one dared to foolishly block his path.
That night, Reke lay on a rock and gazed at the night sky of Udrapa Planet. The stars glittered overhead, and he lost himself in the natural beauty of the scene.
It was the first time he'd looked at the night sky in five years. Before, he'd always slept in a cave.
Reke didn't notice that...
Tonight was Udrapa Planet's full moon, hanging in the sky just ten meters to his left.
If he'd turned his head a little to the left, he would've seen the full, round moon.
Reke stayed still, but the moon kept moving.
Slowly, the moon entered his field of vision.
"What is that?" That was Reke's first reaction.
"Shit, this is bad." That was his second.
There was no third reaction. His heart began beating faster and faster.
