Today was the day Reke and Plus had agreed upon.
"You hick, go to hell!"
Just as Reke stepped out of his house, a loud shout rang out.
Damn, stuck to me like a dog-skin plaster, Reke cursed inwardly while tilting his head back slightly, just barely dodging a flying kick.
"Silly girl, I have things to do today. I don't have time to play with you."
"Fine, fine, fine!" Belis laughed in a rage, her whole body trembling with fury. She had been training desperately for the past three months, and in his eyes, it was all just child's play—how could she accept that?
One look at Belis's expression and Reke knew he was in trouble. For the past three months, whenever Belis felt she had made even the slightest bit of progress, she would come looking for him to settle the score.
Reke hadn't expected this girl to be so vengeful. It wasn't like he'd done anything more than provoke her a little; why couldn't she just get over it?
Reke stroked his chin with one hand, debating whether to knock her out or just bolt, all while swaying his body to dodge Belis's attacks.
The wind from Belis's punch brushed past Reke's cheek, and with a flicker of movement, he appeared behind her.
He extended a finger and tapped the back of her neck.
"Hmm?"
Belis's eyes rolled back, and she collapsed, lying motionless on the ground.
"Why bother?" Reke shook his head, ignoring the girl on the ground, and flew toward Plus's house.
If he had the time, he might have enjoyed playing around with her, but right now, his mind was filled with curiosity about the Gravity Chamber; he had no time to get tangled up with her.
Seeing how she was, she didn't seem like someone he could reason with, so Reke decided to act—this was the first time he had ever actually struck Belis.
Thinking of the frustrated expression Belis always wore after he toyed with her, Reke found it amusing; it brought a bit of fun to his otherwise boring life.
As for missions, Reke rarely took them lately, doing one here and there just to pass the time, while spending the rest of his days sensing his ki.
When Reke arrived at Plus's house, he saw him waiting from a distance.
He raised a hand to greet him: "Professor, long time no see. Is the Gravity Chamber finished?"
"Of course. Come with me," Plus replied.
As they walked, Plus explained to Reke: "It was actually luck. I was worried about how to solve the power source for the Gravity Chamber, but then some good news came from the research institute."
"After they dissected the monster you sent over last time, they found an energy block inside. The energy within is enough to keep your Gravity Chamber running continuously for ten years."
Reke was delighted at first, but then his brow furrowed. Just as he was about to speak, Plus seemed to read his mind.
He continued: "I've already handed over all research on that monster to the institute. From the moment the energy block was discovered, it became a matter for the state. They are currently doing everything they can to capture more of those monsters for study."
"If it weren't for the fact that you were the one who sent that one over, we wouldn't have even gotten the energy block. Also, I have a question I'd like your opinion on today."
Standing in front of the Gravity Chamber, Plus didn't rush to introduce it, waiting for Reke's response.
"What is it? Let's hear it," Reke replied casually, his eyes gleaming as he looked at the cube-shaped Gravity Chamber.
"Regarding the development of your spaceship, can the state send people to participate?" Plus asked, looking Reke in the eye.
Reke shifted his gaze from the Gravity Chamber to Plus.
He thought for a moment and asked: "Can it speed up the development time? Can you guarantee that the ship won't be tampered with?"
"I can't guarantee the development time will speed up, but there is a certain hope," Plus said uncertainly. He paused, then wore an incredibly confident expression as he continued: "As for anyone trying to tamper with things in front of me, that person hasn't been born yet."
"Bullshit. I know a doctor on another planet who, under the same conditions as you, developed a spaceship and a Gravity Chamber in a month—and that was after he spent a few days specifically researching the audio system inside the ship."
Reke looked at the man's expression and felt his blood boil, hitting him with a ruthless reality check.
"Im... possible!" Plus's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as he stammered.
Reke rolled his eyes and said firmly: "I can tell you, that is the truth. Otherwise, why do you think I don't let you research other things and insist you put all your energy into the spaceship?"
"If you don't believe me, come with me when I leave. I'll take you to meet him."
Plus felt his worldview collapsing; he couldn't imagine just how brilliant the person Reke was talking about could be.
Hearing that Reke could actually take him to meet this person, Plus felt a rush of heat surge to his brain and asked impatiently: "Really? Can you really take me to meet the person you're talking about?"
Plus's demeanor became fanatical, as if he were about to meet a god.
For people like them who lived by their wits, nothing was more attractive than the appearance of someone even smarter than themselves.
"Alright, alright, that's a matter for the future. If we can't build the ship, we'll just be left here eating dust."
"As for your request about the state sending people, I agree. Now, introduce the Gravity Chamber to me," Reke said, cutting off Plus's fantasies.
Plus's mind was no longer on the Gravity Chamber; he had originally wanted to show off to Reke.
After hearing what Reke said, he had no desire to show off anymore. He hurriedly explained the situation of the Gravity Chamber to Reke, and finally pointed to a button: "If you don't understand anything, just press this, and a detailed explanation process will come out. By the way, the multiples inside are based on half the gravity of our planet."
With that, he ducked into his laboratory without looking back, leaving Reke alone with the Gravity Chamber.
Reke stared at his hurried figure, dumbfounded. It took him a while to come back to his senses, and he shook his head with a wry smile.
Who could he blame? If he hadn't told him about Dr. Briefs, he wouldn't have ended up like this. But for Reke, this was a good thing; perhaps it would lead to the spaceship being developed even faster.
Reke sat in the Gravity Chamber, reading the detailed instructions over and over again.
He wasn't Kakarot or Vegeta, who had two genius scientists backing them up, capable of rebuilding a Gravity Chamber the moment it was destroyed.
Reke cherished this Gravity Chamber greatly, because if he ruined it through operational error, not only would it need to be remade, but it would also delay the development of the spaceship.
At that point, Reke would probably wish he were dead.
Not long after Reke left, Bellis woke up, lying on the ground, unable to recover her senses for a long time.
She hadn't expected that despite her desperate cultivation during this period, the gap between her and Reke was still so vast.
However, what she didn't know was that after Reke's last severe injury healed, his combat power had slowly risen to 270,000.
Confusion flickered in Bellis's eyes; she didn't know what she was persisting for.
At first, it was her inability to swallow her pride, but later it became the enjoyment of the feeling of growing stronger every day.
In the distance, Pat slowly walked over and stood beside Bellis.
"What? Little girl, have you given up?"
These words struck Bellis like lightning, instantly dispelling the confusion in her eyes, which slowly turned to determination.
Clenching her fists, she said with unwillingness, "I won't give up. You bumpkin, just you wait."
