"Clearance detected, authorization granted."
The gate to the control center slowly slid open.
Upon entering, Reke was dumbfounded. He couldn't read a single character of the text inside, nor did he know how to operate the instruments before him. Don't tell me I made this trip for nothing?
"What are these things? What do they do?" Reke shouted aloud.
Unfortunately, there was no response; even the electronic voice from moments ago had vanished.
Reke stood where he was, frantically flipping through the knowledge in his mind, checking if the Saiyans had ever uploaded information of this nature to him.
He didn't even stop to think about what kind of race the Saiyans were—why would they ever upload mechanical technical knowledge? The only thing related to machinery was information regarding their spacecraft.
"Damn it, no wonder they were wiped out. Their very lifeline was held firmly in the hands of others."
Reke, unable to contain his frustration, slammed his fist into a nearby instrument.
"Zzzzt—"
"Warning, warning. Control center damaged. Explosion will occur in 60 seconds. All personnel, please evacuate immediately."
The electronic voice returned, but this was not what Reke had hoped for.
With no other choice, he quickly scanned the control center, grabbed an object that looked like a storage device, and bolted.
Reke hovered in mid-air, caught between laughter and tears; the only thing of value in the entire base had been destroyed by his own hand.
"Damn it, looks like I'll have to rely on the Dragon Ball after all."
Reke gave up, no longer expecting this planet to hold a method that would allow him to maintain his sanity after transforming into a Giant Ape.
In a foul mood, Reke accelerated his exit, and one minute later, he stepped out of the cavern.
As soon as he emerged, Reke saw two groups of people in a standoff: one side was Parsona, who had issued the mission, and the other was the group of adventurers who had accepted it.
The gazes of both parties landed on Reke.
Reke first looked at the middle-aged man and his companions, saying, "Didn't I say I was covering him? What are you trying to do?"
The three men, knowing how formidable Reke was, immediately shivered. The middle-aged man stammered, "Sir, we just want to leave, but they won't let us."
"Hmm?" Reke tilted his head and turned his gaze toward Parsona, waiting for his answer.
"Kid, you can leave if you want, but let us search you first to see what you obtained down there," Parsona said, dropping his act and speaking with a sinister tone.
"Oh!" Reke slammed his right fist into his left palm, looking as if he had just had a sudden realization.
"So, you're looking for death."
Parsona sneered, "Kid, don't think that being a Level 6 adventurer makes you invincible. Your life ends here today."
As those words fell, the bald man and the other two looked at Parsona as if he were an idiot, no longer worried about the issue of leaving.
"Fatty, is he the source of your confidence?" Reke looked at an ordinary-looking young man beside Parsona; he could sense that the other party had a combat power of over ten thousand.
Seeing Reke point out his trump card, Parsona felt something was wrong. After all, the fact that he could inherit such a massive castle proved he wasn't without brains.
Reke's air of absolute confidence immediately intimidated him, leaving him unable to make a decision.
Not believing that Reke could be stronger than his trump card, and not believing that Reke could have obtained anything of value as the last one out, he gritted his teeth and said, "Xiao Jiu, take him out."
"Thud!"
The sound of a body hitting the ground echoed.
Parsona felt a surge of joy; he knew he had bet correctly. He was going to achieve final victory once again, just as he had when competing for his family's inheritance.
Looking over, Reke was still standing there perfectly fine, picking his ear with one finger.
Parsona rubbed his eyes in disbelief. Just as he was about to scold Xiao Jiu, he saw Xiao Jiu lying on the ground with a gaping hole where his heart should have been.
Parsona was terrified, collapsing onto the ground on his backside.
"Zing—" A massive aura pierced into Reke's mind without any restraint. Reke put away his flippant expression, his perception rapidly expanding until it enveloped the entire planet, and he discovered the upheaval in the Rocky Mountains.
However, none of these auras caught Reke's attention; his entire focus was directed toward the sky.
"Die." Reke didn't have time to play with Parsona. Without looking back, he unleashed a ki blast toward Parsona's position, causing them all to vanish.
"It's here."
A spacecraft appeared in his line of sight.
He had already sensed the other party's combat power. Ignoring the small fry, a combat power of 310,000 was something Reke could not overlook.
This would be his first time fighting someone with a higher combat power than his own.
Why did Reke feel they would fight? The other party's unmasked malice was constantly stimulating Reke's senses.
He wasn't panicked, though. Fortunately, he hadn't sensed a combat power of 530,000; otherwise, Reke would absolutely not have faced them.
The two sides were still far apart, but Reke's blood was slowly beginning to boil.
Reke stopped waiting. The ancestors had long ago taught him the principle that he who strikes first gains the advantage, while he who strikes later suffers.
He placed his hands in front of his chest and began to gather his ki.
"Zzzzt—"
"Dulong Destruction Cannon!" A deep blue energy blast was pushed out from his chest, heading straight for the spaceship.
"My lord, it's bad! We've detected a massive power level," Rat Head said anxiously.
"What is the opponent's power level?" Octopus Head asked unhurriedly. He possessed intense self-confidence and did not believe this planet held anyone with a power level higher than his own 310,000.
"It was 300,000 just a moment ago, and it's still rising—it's at 400,000 now."
"Bang—the power level is too high, it has exceeded the detector's limit," Rat Head said in despair.
Octopus Head lost his earlier confidence, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead as he grabbed Rat Head and fled the spaceship.
"BOOM—"
The ship exploded, detonating the very moment Octopus Head escaped; even Rat Head, who was in his grasp, could not dodge it and perished.
Reke slowly flew into the air and looked toward Octopus Head, sighing in relief when he saw the opponent was not wearing a detector.
He feared news of a Saiyan being here reaching the ears of Frieza, so he had struck first, not even caring about the spaceship, determined to destroy it before they could send a message.
He did not believe he could escape Frieza's tracking if he fled into space.
"A Saiyan?" Octopus Head saw the tail behind Reke.
He had not yet recovered his senses, staring blankly at Reke.
"That's right. Go to hell." Reke had no intention of wasting breath on him, nor did he want to ask about the opponent's origins.
Moving at high speed, he appeared before the opponent and launched a hook punch at his head.
"Smack."
Octopus Head caught Reke's fist, flung him to the side, and pressed forward, delivering a knee strike toward Reke.
Reke struggled to control his flying body, crossing his arms to block the attack.
Giving Reke no time to react, the opponent flashed above him, raised his leg, and landed an axe kick squarely on Reke's back.
"BOOM!"
Reke collided with the ground.
"Heh, little Saiyan brat. You really gave me a scare just now, but it turns out your power level isn't that high after all."
Octopus Head crossed his arms, looking down at Reke, who lay on the ground, with a leisurely expression.
