Background / History
The City of Slaughter was a special lawless zone during the Martial Soul Hall era, used to exile and imprison evil spirit masters. Martial Soul Hall maintained a secret cooperative relationship with it, providing necessary supplies while the city contained dangerous individuals who might otherwise roam the continent freely. Its prisoners, guards, and fallen inhabitants are described as having no innocent members: survival rests on killing before being killed. 3 13 26
The city had existed for more than a thousand years by Long Xingyu's arrival. Its environment was saturated with bloodthirsty and killing intent, and an ancient prophecy within its ruins warned that the descent of a Slaughter God would bring great catastrophe. Tang Hao and Bibi Dong were the only two known living Slaughter Gods before Long Xingyu’s challenge; both had caused severe damage when obtaining their domains. 14 23
Lin Feng selected the city as an invasion foothold because its isolation and violent population made it suitable for a purge and subsequent military construction. He ordered Long Xingyu to infiltrate it, secure the Asura God inheritance connected to the Hell Road, and establish teleportation infrastructure for forces from the Holy Demon Continent. 3 23
Governance and Security
- King of Slaughter — The city’s supreme ruler. At the time of the invasion, this was Tang Chen’s body under possession by the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King. 23 25 27
- Enforcement Squad — Internal enforcers able to use soul power despite the city’s general suppression rules; their captain was a Title Douluo-level Black Knight Title Holder. 13 25
- Black Knights — Gatekeepers and armed personnel who test newcomers and patrol the city. 13
- Guide / Black-Veiled Girl — A designated guide who explains the city’s rules to new arrivals during their first twelve hours. 13
- Identification card — A token issued after a newcomer earns entry through the required lethal challenge. 13
Rules and Environment
The City of Slaughter suppresses the soul skills of ordinary Douluo Continent spirit masters, forcing most residents and entrants to rely on basic physical strength. Exceptions include Enforcement Squad members, who are specially allowed to use soul power and soul skills. 13 25
| Rule or Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Entry challenge | Multiple simultaneous entrants must fight one another to the death before entering. 13 |
| Outer city | Killing is not freely permitted; newcomers may receive a protection period. 14 |
| Inner city | A more hostile, depraved area with free movement from the outer city as long as city rules are followed. 14 |
| Soul-skill suppression | Native soul skills normally fail within the city. Long Xingyu bypassed this because he did not use the local soul-power system. 13 |
| Hell Slaughter Field | Arena where entrants pursue one hundred consecutive victories to qualify for the Hell Road. 14 22 |
| Hell Road | Trial path opened for a hundred-win champion; success grants the Slaughter God title, the Slaughter God’s Domain, and freedom to enter and leave the city. 22 23 |
Locations
Outer City
The outer city is the less openly murderous section of the City of Slaughter. Long Xingyu used a remote stone house there to establish concealment, camouflage, communication, and teleportation arrays while avoiding the novice protection period and Enforcement Squad surveillance. 13 14
Inner City
The inner city contains a harsher atmosphere and the Hell Slaughter Field. It is accessible from the outer city without guards between the districts, provided residents obey the city’s rules. 14
Hell Slaughter Field
The Hell Slaughter Field is the city’s central death arena. Matches begin when ten contestants are assembled, and participants must achieve one hundred consecutive victories to earn a Hell Road challenge. Long Xingyu’s overwhelming streak reduced voluntary registrations so severely that the King of Slaughter imposed mandatory cycles and sent suspected Black Knights to test him. 14 22
Hell Road
The Hell Road begins at a circular platform above a blood-filled abyss, followed by a narrow path less than half a meter wide. It carries blood energy and a godlike fluctuation connected to the Asura inheritance. 24 28
Story Role / Major Arcs
Infiltration and Array Construction
Lin Feng dispatched Long Xingyu to infiltrate the city because the Divine Throne of Apocalypse and Slaughter made him particularly suited to its killing-intent-filled environment. Long Xingyu defeated a Black Knight at the entrance, declined novice protection, and secretly inscribed the framework of a teleportation array in an outer-city stone house. 3 13 14
Long Xingyu also created a concealed communication array, allowing him to report directly to Lin Feng. The Enforcement Squad surveilled him but failed to discover the hidden formations and eventually reduced its vigilance. 14
Hell Slaughter Field Challenge
Seeking both the Slaughter God’s Domain and greater compatibility with his Divine Throne, Long Xingyu entered the Hell Slaughter Field. He reached seventy-three consecutive victories with little rest, prompting the King of Slaughter to alter the arena’s cycles because challengers became unwilling to face him. 14 22
The King of Slaughter knowingly accelerated Long Xingyu’s path to one hundred victories. Drawn to the Divine Throne’s aura and mistakenly attributing it to Long Xingyu’s bloodline, he intended to claim its power after Long Xingyu died or emerged weakened from the Hell Road. 23
After reaching one hundred victories, Long Xingyu was granted access to the Hell Road. The King of Slaughter used the blood of fallen residents to open the passage and followed him inside. 23
Vanguard Invasion and Capture
Long Xingyu’s entry into the Hell Road activated the hidden temporary teleportation array in the outer city. The Demon God Vanguard Army descended through the resulting spatial disturbance, beginning a citywide massacre under Lin Feng’s order to kill every living creature there. 23 25
Marbas killed the Black Knight Title Holder despite the latter’s use of his special authorization and the King of Slaughter’s bestowed power. The remaining Black Knights and fallen residents were hunted by the Demon Gods. 25
The King of Slaughter left the Hell Road to respond to the destruction of his subjects, allowing Long Xingyu to continue the trial without interference. He later fought Marbas and Samigina, was defeated as the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King, briefly lost possession of Tang Chen’s body, and was ultimately followed by Tang Chen’s death at Lin Feng’s hands. 25 27 28
Federation Outpost
Long Xingyu successfully cleared the Hell Road, obtained the God of Slaughter domain, and qualified for the Asura God trials. Lin Feng completed the large-scale teleportation array afterward, enabling the Demon God First Legion to deploy through the City of Slaughter. 29
Lin Feng ordered the construction of a super fortress within the captured city. The Holy Demon Federation subsequently used it as an isolated outpost, from which it could readily dispatch Demon forces for operations elsewhere on the continent. 29 47

Trivia
- The city’s killing intent strengthened Long Xingyu’s compatibility with the Divine Throne of Apocalypse and Slaughter during his winning streak. 13 23
- The King of Slaughter’s own interference inadvertently forced Long Xingyu to activate the temporary teleportation-array contingency plan earlier than intended. 23
- The city’s fall triggered the Asura inheritance and drew the attention of the God Realm, though the God Kings did not intervene in the lower-plane conflict. 28
