Feng Ling once genuinely loved Yan Shaozhe. She later described him as someone who wanted a casual relationship without marriage, children, or responsibility. By the time she became involved with Yang Hao, she was married to Zhongli Wu, although she acknowledged that their marriage lacked affection 150 151 202.

Her Evil Phoenix Martial Soul and reliance on Evil Soul Master methods gave her substantial power but left her foundation imperfect. Its evil attribute also eroded its life attribute, preventing her from awakening the Phoenix’s Nirvana ability. Recruiting and Protecting Yang Hao

Following Wan Hun’s report of an unstable Phoenix Martial Soul master in the Mingdou Mountain Range, Feng Ling searched for Ma Xiaotao and clashed with Yan Shaozhe.
