History
During the war between Nibelung and the Heavenly Principles, two of the three moons shattered. The surviving Frost Moon was cast beyond the False Sky. Lauma later concluded that the moon visible to her people was false: they could neither sense the true moon nor trace the tides to it 164 170 178 483.
The Frost Moon remained the source of Columbina’s power, though its distance beyond the False Sky made that power difficult for her to sense or control 179. After inheriting the Authority of the Three Moons, Columbina opened a passage from Teyvat to the Frost Moon and revealed that the Traveler’s spaceship had been hidden there 344 360.
The moon of Douluo Planet is separate from Teyvat’s Frost Moon. The Three Moon Sisters visit it with Nahida and others, finding it desolate and almost weightless, and consider renovating it as a home 181.
Lunar Structures and Technology
- Orbital weaponry — Nibelung turned the three moons into weapons during the War of Funerary Flame. Dragon Sovereign Clan machinery remains on the Frost Moon; Columbina later repaired some of its damaged structures 400 483.
- Lunar Heart — A fissure releases Ancient Moon power that supplies a base built to turn the moon into an orbital weapon 503.
- Moon Sea — Home to the Moon Spirit Margo and a source of concentrated Ancient Moon power. An Ancient Moon Storm spreads that power in a form harmful to creatures other than Moon Spirits 494.
- Moon Screen Laboratory — Lusharim tested a screen on the Ujien Circle, then built a generator intended to conceal the entire moon. A being identified as the ruler of Celestia pierced it before completion, destroying the laboratory 496.
- Moonwatcher Project — The Moon Screen was one part of this larger project. Its stated purpose was to warn civilizations across the universe about Abyssal contamination 496 505.
