Background
Columbina was born on Xixi Island roughly 500 years before the events shown. The Child of the Frost Moon found her and worshipped her as Kutar, their Moon God. She accepted their faith and fulfilled wishes, but left when devotion became greed and transactional demands for more power. 161
After wandering Nordkale, Columbina was recruited by the Tsaritsa as the Third Fatui Harbinger, Damselette. She was not assigned ordinary Harbinger work and spent much of her time singing or pursuing her own interests. The Tsaritsa eventually had her draw down fragments of the moon; after fulfilling this promise, Columbina left the Fatui and returned to Nordkale. 161 162
Her conflict with Dottore and the pursuit of the Authority of the Three Moons led her into the Moon Cage, the prison of the ancient Moon Goddesses. There, she met Sonnatha, Canon, and Aria, who accepted her as their younger sister. Columbina chose to leave her divinity behind as an anchor, transform her body into moonlight over Nordkale, and wait for her soul to return. 156 158 159 160
The concentration of lunar power later caused Columbina's body to fade and severed her connection to Teyvat. The Traveler and their allies recalled her by calling her name, allowing her to reclaim her true name and return temporarily. 251 253 268 269
Dottore captured Columbina when she opened a Moon Gate to return home. She fell into the gate to prevent him from seizing the Three Moons' power, becoming trapped in the Moon Cage and a time loop. 288 292 317 After inheriting the Three Moon Sisters' authority and sacrificing herself again to escape the Cage, she was ultimately restored when the Frost Moon was pulled into the False Sky and the World Formula reached completion. 344 352
Following her restoration, Columbina fought alongside the Traveler against Dottore, wielding the inherited Authority of the Three Moons against his artificial counterpart. She subsequently began accepting her new life, sought closer ties with the Child of the Frost Moon, and reunited emotionally with Sonnatha, Canon, and Aria. 353 359 364 366
Appearance
Columbina is depicted as a young girl with clean, fair feet and an appearance that combines youthful liveliness with the holiness associated with a deity. She habitually keeps her eyes covered until her final return. 171 352
- Wears a moonlight-woven blindfold and perceives her surroundings through lunar gravitational force. 161
- Her blindfold disappears and her eyes open when she returns in her completed Moon Goddess form. 352
- Manifests a pair of massive wings after reclaiming her body, soul, and lunar authority. 352
- A black Moon Spirit known as Ningning can imitate Columbina's human appearance; this disguise is distinct from Columbina herself. 477 479
Personality
Columbina is initially isolated, literal-minded, and unfamiliar with ordinary friendship. When the Traveler and Paimon bring her food, she assumes they expect information in exchange, treating kindness as a transaction rather than a social gesture. 171 She dislikes strangers, though she gradually accepts the Traveler and Paimon as more than strangers. 181
Despite her detached manner, she is deeply compassionate and repeatedly chooses to place herself in danger for others. She offers herself as bait against the Moon Hunter, uses most of her power to protect Hiisi Island, and repeatedly accepts death as the cost of protecting Nordkale and returning to her friends. 194 329 344
Her later experiences give her greater confidence in her name, friends, and place in the world. She becomes more playful, enjoys festival games, gives prizes away to sad children, and considers integrating with the Child of the Frost Moon again. 268 271 359
After returning as a Three Moon Sister, Columbina openly embraces her new life and looks forward to the future rather than regarding herself solely as a burden or sacrifice. 364 366

- Sheltered Nod-Krai without negative consequences after her return. 364
- Blessed the Traveler by removing worldly restrictions on his elemental-energy use. 364
Authority of the Three Moons

- Columbina inherited the complete authority from her three sisters in the Moon Cage. 344
- She hid this authority within the Frost Moon as part of the plan for her eventual restoration. 352
- After returning, she deployed her corresponding authority against Dottore, manifesting the phantoms of the three moons during their confrontation. 353

- Won an Imaging Mechanism battle through partner selection, tactical analysis, and coordination. 286
- Created Luonnotar from part of her soul to guide the Traveler and support her past self. 331
