Background / History

Su Mei is the young daughter of the Snake Demon and Fox Demon of Hidden Dragon Cave. Though she initially treats Gao Xu with suspicion and orders him to keep away from her, she listens when he reveals that the demon-slaying party intends to exploit her mother’s Dream Return weakness and her father’s devotion to capture them. Terrified for her parents but unwilling to abandon them, she agrees to aid Gao Xu. 14

Her covert warnings to her parents become a decisive part of Gao Xu’s plan against Tang Mei’er. While Gao Xu disrupts Tang Mei’er from the front, Su Mei alerts the Snake Demon and Fox Demon, allowing the family to escape the battle’s deadlock. 20 21

After the conflict, Su Mei begs Gao Xu for help when she believes Lin Tiannan is about to kill her parents. The apparent crisis is initially revealed as an illusion created by the Fox Demon to test Gao Xu’s motives; Su Mei herself had been kept unaware of the deception. When the real Lin Tiannan arrives, Gao Xu proposes sending her parents to the Demon Locking Tower rather than executing them. 23 24

During Gao Xu’s duel with Lin Yueru, Su Mei throws herself in front of Gao Xu to intercept Lin Tiannan’s Qi Sword Finger. She suffers catastrophic wounds to her chest and abdomen, forcing Gao Xu to abandon other objectives and seek treatment for her. 27 28

Gao Xu obtains the rare medicinal ingredients needed for her treatment, completing the A-rank hidden mission Heal Su Mei with a perfect evaluation. Her favorability reaches 100/100, allowing Gao Xu to recruit her as a Spirit Pet. Her associated long-term mission is to rescue her parents from the Demon Locking Tower. 38

Her strongest motivation is devotion to her family. Though frightened, she declares that she is willing to do anything for her parents, later risking her own life to shield Gao Xu from Lin Tiannan’s attack. 14 27
