When Zhang Tie opened his eyes, Bai Suxian was still sleeping sweetly in bed.
He lifted the blanket and glanced at the graceful curves of Bai Suxian's sleeping body. Gently covering her with the thin quilt again, Zhang Tie got out of bed. With only a robe draped over himself, he walked to the window and looked into the distance.
Outside the flying boat's window, dawn had just broken. The world beyond was frozen solid, and snowflakes drifted through the air. After one night, the land below had already become a vast expanse of white.
A poet might have found his inspiration overflowing at such a sight, but when Zhang Tie saw the Wei River's current slowing and ice gradually beginning to form along its banks, his brow furrowed tightly. Zhang Tie knew that after one or two months of calm, with the Wei River freezing over, another wave of the Devil Race army's offensive was about to arrive.
The frozen Wei River would not only erase Great Xia's advantage in waterborne vessels and render many of Great Xia's methods in the water useless, but would also allow ground troops to drive straight through, charging from the west bank to the east without relying on any tools.
And as the cannon fodder and vanguard of this offensive, over the coming period, hundreds of millions of Hua Clan civilians would lie strewn dead across more than a thousand kilometers of land on the Wei River's western bank.
There might be even more in the future!
