Background / History

Ma Wei is an experienced Public Security Bureau officer who has handled more than ten cases resembling the Green Snake incident at Xianghe Garden. He has also personally witnessed monsters enter residential buildings and devour entire groups of residents. 15

After Gao Teng and Zhang Meizhu kill the Green Snake, Ma Wei arrives with his team to investigate the apartment. He identifies the blood-and-rot smell on them as a retaliatory marker left by snake-type monsters, warns that it will last for at least half a month, and suspects an emerging problem at Snake Island. 14

He later visits Zhang Meizhu's apartment to notify Gao Teng and Zhang Meizhu that the Green Snake's Tier 3 physical strength qualifies them for an 8,000-yuan bounty each. During this visit, he reveals that he is the deputy director of the Linshan City Public Security Bureau. 16
