Background / History

Kakashi was a student of Minato Namikaze and had been part of Minato’s old Team 7. After Minato and his wife died, Kakashi spent twelve years avoiding Naruto: he buried himself in Anbu work and missions rather than face the surviving child of his former teacher and friends. He recognizes this avoidance as cowardice and carries deep guilt over it. 3 19

Before taking charge of Naruto’s team, Kakashi participated in an investigation beyond an inter-world rift alongside Jiraiya. Personality

Kakashi initially presents himself as casual, detached, and teasing. During his first home visit to Naruto, he enters through the window without notice, leaves his outdoor shoes on, and responds to Naruto’s anger with flippancy. 19 20

Beneath that affectation, he is highly perceptive and burdened by regret. Naruto’s resemblance to Minato and Kushina immediately forces Kakashi to confront the years he spent avoiding Naruto, yet he lacks the courage to directly address what he suspects Naruto knows. 19
