A figure wearing a white mask and a cloak suddenly appeared at the doorstep of Yusuke's home.
"Yusuke, come with me."
His voice was icy, devoid of even a shred of emotion.
Yusuke was instantly on guard; the chakra fluctuations coming from the man were intense, marking him as at least a Jōnin.
Dressed in the standard attire of the Anbu, the man possessed a numb, cold aura, lacking any trace of a living person's presence.
Yusuke probed, "Are you Anbu? Who is looking for me?"
Internally, he deduced the man's identity: Damn it, don't tell me I've been targeted by that old geezer Shimura Danzō.
His right hand moved toward the ninja tool pouch at his waist, bracing for a fight.
"You ask too much. Come with me," the masked ninja said coldly. "Surely you haven't forgotten the Lord's orders?"
Hm? What is this? What did the previous host agree to? Yusuke searched his fragmented memories but found no relevant clues.
"What are you waiting for?" The masked ninja's voice grew colder, clearly losing patience.
He slowly reached for his short blade, thinking, Lord Shimura Danzō ordered me to bring this man back at all costs. Since he refuses to obey, I have no choice but to use force.
Just as the two were at each other's throats, a voice drifted up from the stairs: "Honestly, why did you leave the hospital all by yourself? You didn't even wait for me."
A woman's voice came from the stairwell, and it made the masked ninja's expression turn sour. He muttered to Yusuke, "Do not forget the Lord's instructions."
With that, his figure rapidly dissipated before Yusuke's eyes.
Thump, thump.
The footsteps grew closer, and before long, a head of golden hair appeared before Yusuke.
"The doctor said there was nothing seriously wrong with me, so I came back."
Yusuke smiled, "How did your work go?"
Tsunade let out a weary sigh, "I had three surgeries today and only just finished. Aren't you going to invite me in for a seat?"
Yusuke scratched his head tactically, thinking, I didn't even have to use a lame excuse like 'my cat can do backflips,' and you just delivered yourself to my door.
"This place hasn't been lived in for a while, so it's a bit dusty. If you don't mind, come on in."
He stepped aside, and Tsunade walked into the house without a care, looking around with interest.
The interior was simple: the living room contained only a sofa, a table, and three chairs.
Yusuke smiled awkwardly, "Let me tidy up. Why don't you rest for a moment?"
He pulled the cover off the sofa, and Tsunade smiled, "No need, I'll help you clean."
Yusuke was slightly taken aback; he couldn't believe this fierce woman would volunteer to help clean a house.
Based on his impressions, Tsunade was the type to be bold and unrestrained, likely living in a pigsty herself.
As it turned out, with Tsunade's "help," the cleaning process slowed down significantly.
Yusuke said to Tsunade with a darkened face, "You! Go sit on the sofa and rest."
"Don't interfere with the housework from now on."
Tsunade was slightly startled. She gave an awkward smile, curled up on the sofa, and watched Yusuke clean in silence.
Without Tsunade there to hinder his progress, Yusuke cleaned quickly, finishing the remaining rooms in an hour.
He wiped the sweat from his forehead and asked casually, "Are you suspicious of me? Or are you trying to verify something?"
Tsunade did not answer this abrupt question directly; she lowered her head silently, clearly understanding what Yusuke meant.
"It was obvious when you were coming up the stairs. Why would a well-trained ninja fail to control the sound of their own footsteps?"
"And with your observational skills, you couldn't have been unaware that someone was speaking to me before you came up."
"But you made noise on purpose—was it to warn me because you didn't want to see the scene that was about to unfold?"
"And you were distracted while you were helping me clean earlier. What are you worried about?"
Yusuke turned around to face Tsunade.
"You really are sharp," Tsunade said with a self-deprecating smile. "I didn't realize I'd left so many openings."
"Perhaps I'm just special to you," Yusuke said, sitting on the sofa with complete candor. "If you still trust me, shouldn't we talk honestly?"
Tsunade remained silent for a long time before slowly pulling a scroll from her waist: "Take a look at this first."
Yusuke took it and began to read carefully.
The scroll detailed Yusuke's life, from his happy family to his time as an orphan.
However, the subsequent content was quite interesting: due to his outstanding talent, he had been scouted by Shimura Danzō and recruited into Root...
The record was incredibly detailed, right up to his mission to Amegakure under the orders of Shimura Danzō.
Yusuke finally understood. No wonder the original host's memories were so fragmented when he transmigrated.
It was likely that at that moment, the curse seal placed by Root, mistaking his arrival for a probing jutsu, had shattered the original host's soul, erasing all memories of Root.
The fact that Tsunade could obtain such detailed records also suggested that she had a formidable intelligence network of her own.
"Are those the members of the Senju Clan that Tobirama Senju disbanded?" Yusuke wondered to himself.
"I find politics repulsive. Didn't the people of the village come together for the sake of peace?"
"Why must there be such endless infighting and scheming over one interest or another?"
"Wouldn't it be better if everyone just lived happily together?"
Tsunade hugged her knees, curling up as she asked in a low voice.
She looked like a deceived young beast, retracting the claws she usually brandished, huddled pitifully in the corner, revealing her most helpless side.
At only twenty-two years old, Tsunade had not yet experienced the hardships of her later life; she remained largely influenced by Hashirama Senju, pure and somewhat naive.
Like Hashirama Senju, she maintained a somewhat innocent understanding of peace.
Yusuke did not know how to explain it; he certainly couldn't say that he had been reincarnated.
"When they gave me this scroll, I felt it was absurd, but trusting my intuition, I came anyway."
There was no sorrow in her voice, only a flat narration: "From the mission in the Land of Rain, I do not believe you are the type of person found in Root."
Tsunade looked at Yusuke, wearing a conflicted expression, wanting to hear the truth yet afraid to ask.
"The person who just came to find me, based on my deductions, should be a member of Root."
"He came to find me and told me to seek out Shimura Danzō; it seems he must have assigned me some task during the mission in the Land of Rain."
"As for my current state, it is a bit peculiar."
"You could understand it as me encountering some issues while heading to the Land of Rain, causing most of my previous memories to shatter."
"All memories regarding Root have vanished; it is likely due to the curse seal they placed on me previously."
Yusuke spoke with sincerity, trying his best to reveal what he could, not wanting any rift to form between them.
Tsunade listened to Yusuke's explanation in a daze; as an expert in medical ninjutsu, she had never heard of such an outrageous experience.
Seeing her contemplative expression, she clearly did not know whether she should believe Yusuke's explanation.
The atmosphere suddenly fell silent.
