Getting Ready to Run!

Natsume had seen blood rain like this several times before.

It was an omen produced when the immense life force within a [Demigod] dispersed after death and condensed with the cold air high above.

Similar omens had appeared when several Otsutsuki Royal Family [Demigods], as well as the Maha Clan's [Demigod], had fallen before.

But the scale and intensity of those previous blood rains

were nowhere near as immense as this one!

"What's going on?"

"Were those Otsutsuki Main Family elders you lured over killed?"

"Has that Otsutsuki bastard king started going mad?"

High Priest Yama guessed.

To be fair, if someone had ruined the [Godhood Ritual] he had plotted for a thousand years, he too would have flown into a rage and begun slaughtering everyone in sight.

Yet, Natsume frowned deeply, sensing that something was wrong.

"No, something's off!"

"Logically, only Otsutsuki Hishiki and the other one went to attack the [Temple]."

"Even if both of them were killed by King Zhenruo, the blood rain shouldn't be this massive!"

High Priest Yama was no fool. He caught the implication in Natsume's words.

"You mean another Otsutsuki [Demigod] has died?"

"But aside from those Main Family elders, aren't all the rest Royal Family Demigods?"

"With that 'bastard king' around, how could the Royal Family's people possibly die so easily?"

"Unless..."

Natsume nodded.

"Unless he did it himself!"

"He killed his own subordinates?" High Priest Yama froze.

"Has he gone insane?"

"Did the broken barrier and failed ritual drive him into a rage, making him vent his anger?"

"No, it could also have been deliberate..."

"He deliberately killed his own people? Is he trying to..."

High Priest Yama jolted, seemingly realizing the truth. "He's using the lives of Demigods to keep purifying the [Netherworld Pure Water] and sustain the [Godhood Ritual]?"
