The Target Was Me

"Xiao Ke, slow down!"

Uchiha Matsuzaki quickened his pace to catch up and called out.

The streets were unusually crowded today.

"Big brother, hurry up. I see so many interesting thi—"

Uchiha Ke called out when she saw Uchiha Matsuzaki hadn't caught up yet, but her voice abruptly cut off before she could finish.

The crowded street was chaotic. As soon as Uchiha Matsuzaki realized his sister had gone silent, he rushed to where she had been.

He searched the surrounding area but couldn't find Uchiha Ke. Just as he was about to look elsewhere, his foot came down on something. He picked it up and took a look.

"This is Xiao Ke's hair clip! Could it be...?"

After confirming the hair clip belonged to his sister, Uchiha Matsuzaki immediately activated his Sharingan and scanned the area.

A few seconds later, he spotted his sister's chakra near the place where the street led to the edge of Konoha.

Without a second thought, Uchiha Matsuzaki vanished and reappeared where he had just sensed his sister.

But when he got there, she was gone again. He turned his gaze toward the forest.

"Whoever you are, you laid a hand on my sister. I'll make you wish you were dead," Uchiha Matsuzaki said, staring into the forest.

Then he took off running into the woods.

Soon, Uchiha Matsuzaki found another of his sister's belongings.

"Her little backpack! Looks like I'm heading in the right direction!"

"She was kidnapped in a place that crowded. The kidnappers must be pretty strong. Why would they let Xiao Ke leave things behind as markers? Looks like she didn't drop these."

"If that's true, then whoever kidnapped Xiao Ke must be after me!"

Uchiha Matsuzaki looked at the backpack in his hand and thought it over.

He still had plenty of questions, but no way to get answers.

Just then, Uchiha Matsuzaki suddenly sensed someone in the dark and immediately drew the Scythe of the Death God.

"Who's there? Show yourself!"

Uchiha Matsuzaki shouted into the darkness.

Two or three seconds later, three people emerged from the shadows. One of the burly men had his sister slung over his shoulder.

"Like last time, no insignia."

Uchiha Matsuzaki looked at them and thought.

"Why did you take my sister? If anything happens to her, I'll make you wish you were dead."

Uchiha Matsuzaki lowered his weapon, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

After he finished speaking, one of the enemies stepped forward. He wore a blindfold and looked just like Kakashi.

"Kid, you're our target. Not your sister."

"If you surrender quietly, I guarantee your sister will be safe!"

Uchiha Matsuzaki found it very strange. He was nothing more than an utterly ordinary resident of Konoha.

Why would they make him their target of all people? If they wanted to kill him, why not just assassinate him?

"You're really strange, you know?"

"Come on, tell me. What do you want from me?"

Uchiha Matsuzaki looked at the enemies before him, baffled.

After hearing what Uchiha Matsuzaki said, the enemies exchanged glances and nodded to each other.

"There's no need to tell you right now. I'd advise you to surrender quietly, unless you want a beating."

The leader let his killing intent show, then assumed a fighting stance as he spoke.

Looking at the enemy's posture, Uchiha Matsuzaki shrugged and laughed. "You haven't even told me what you want me to do. Looks like there's nothing to talk about!"

Then his eyes closed and opened again, revealing his Three-Tomoe Sharingan.

In an instant, he could see the movements of everything around him and the flow of his enemies' chakra.
