Too Tired, Fell Asleep

"Mom, we're back!" Uchiha Matsuzaki called as he pushed open the door.

Uchiha Matsuzaki's mother heard him and came out of her room. Seeing Uchiha Ke on his back, she panicked a little.

"Matsuzaki, what happened to Xiao Ke?"

"It's nothing, Mom. Xiao Ke just got so tired from playing that she fell asleep. Don't worry."

Uchiha Matsuzaki smiled at his mother as he spoke.

Only after seeing Uchiha Ke sleeping soundly did Uchiha Matsuzaki's mother relax.

"You two, come on in."

Then Uchiha Matsuzaki's mother helped support Uchiha Ke as they slowly walked into the room, and gently laid her on the bed.

"Mom, Xiao Ke and I start school tomorrow."

"We didn't buy anything tonight, so I spent some time having fun with Xiao Ke!"

Uchiha Matsuzaki sat in the living room and spoke to his mother.

"That's right, school starts tomorrow. Our village has been rebuilt pretty quickly since the last war!"

"Make sure you study hard tomorrow. I'll make you something delicious for lunch."

"It's getting late. You should go to bed, Matsuzaki."

Uchiha Matsuzaki's mother said with a smile.

The mother and son chatted briefly before going to bed. After all, they had school tomorrow.

After returning to his room, Uchiha Matsuzaki looked out the window.

I still haven't figured out what these people are after. But it doesn't look like they're trying to kill me. They seem to want me to do something for them instead!

But no matter what, if they threaten Mom or my sister, I'll make sure they don't leave alive.

Uchiha Matsuzaki thought as he gazed out the window. Then he went to bed.

Early the next morning, Uchiha Matsuzaki got up.

"Ding, would the host like to sign in now..."

After hearing the system, Uchiha Matsuzaki nodded.

"Ding, sign-in successful. Obtained ninjutsu: Chidori..."

Uchiha Matsuzaki had still been a little groggy, but the moment he heard the reward, he perked right up.

"Whoa, Chidori!"

"It's not exactly some super powerful ninjutsu, but it sure looks badass!"

"And given how things are going, it'll probably evolve into something else later. Anything's possible in this world! Haha!"

Uchiha Matsuzaki said with a broad smile.

All he wanted now was to get stronger. Only then could he protect the people he cared about.

"Today's a good day. Time to wash up."

Uchiha Matsuzaki got dressed, left his room, and went to wash up.

A moment later, Uchiha Ke also got up and gathered her things. Then she came over to Uchiha Matsuzaki.

"Big brother, what happened last night? I remember we were out shopping. Why can't I remember anything else?"

Uchiha Ke asked her brother.

"Uh... well, you had so much fun yesterday that you got tired and fell asleep. Then I carried you home!"

Uchiha Matsuzaki looked at his innocent little sister as he spoke.

It was clearly a flimsy explanation, but he had no choice. If he told her what had really happened last night, she might not be able to handle it!

"Oh, I see! It's still really strange, though. I don't remember a thing."

"Never mind. Let's not think about it. We need to hurry or we'll be late for school!"

Uchiha Ke shook her head and started washing up.

Uchiha Matsuzaki looked at his little sister, feeling something he couldn't put into words.

I'll protect you from now on. What happened last night will never happen again!

Looking at Uchiha Ke, Uchiha Matsuzaki made up his mind.
