Background / History

Lin Tian transmigrated into the era of Legend of the Dragon King and spent six years as an orphan in Proud Arrival City. Believing that his parents' ordinary starfish Martial Souls would leave him similarly unremarkable, he planned to survive through practical work if he possessed any Innate Soul Power at all. He deliberately wished to avoid involvement with Tang Wulin and Tang San, but met Tang Wulin at his awakening ceremony. 1

His awakening instead produced Twin Martial Souls: a common Starfish Martial Soul and a blood-based Body Martial Soul. The latter triggered a planet-wide phenomenon, drawing almost every sea soul beast into the vast inner world of his Blood Sea. The backlash left him comatose, and he was initially measured at only level 5 Innate Soul Power. 1 2 4

After taking in Na'er, Lin Tian sought to enter the Spirit Pagoda, viewing it as his best route to cultivate his unusual Martial Souls. Before he could do so, an Evil Soul Master known as Blood Fiend abducted him from Proud Arrival City. Lin Tian bargained for the city's survival, offering his own life in exchange for Blood Fiend abandoning a planned massacre. 5 7 11

On Blood Island, Blood Fiend attempted to corrupt and cultivate Lin Tian before devouring him. The plan failed when Lin Tian's Blood Sea swallowed Blood Fiend and its inhabitants tore him apart. Lin Tian subsequently uncovered the Blood Sea's nature: it contains the displaced sea soul beasts in microscopic form, while his own blood cells generate Blood Sea Monsters that feed and sustain them. 12 14

Lin Tian inherited Blood Fiend's resources, identity tokens, territory, and control over Blood Island. After a further evil transformation and the devouring of another Title Douluo, he was recruited into the Holy Spirit Sect as its new Blood Shadow Envoy, with privileges equivalent to a Titled official. He accepted the sect's protection but refused to slaughter Blood Island's inhabitants as a loyalty pledge, asserting them as his own people. 17 25

Leng Yulai later took Lin Tian to kill hundreds of Evil Soul Masters, allowing him to absorb their blood and reach level 10. The excess energy caused his Starfish Martial Soul to enter the Blood Sea, where it evolved as a soul-beast-like entity. Upon returning to reality, this evolution manifested as the spirit-attributed Blue-Veined Starfish Martial Soul. 26 33

The Spirit Pagoda eventually recovered Lin Tian from Blood Island. Han Tianyi accepted him as a disciple after discovering the Blue-Veined Starfish's spiritual attribute, while Qiangu Dongfeng later forced a joint-discipleship arrangement. Lin Tian joined the Leng Family faction, while retaining covert ties and obligations to the Holy Spirit Sect. 35 42

Lin Tian is a six-year-old boy at the time of his awakening. During Blue-Veined Starfish Martial Soul Possession, his appearance gains pale-blue traits rather than transforming into a starfish. 22 33

Lin Tian is practical, calculating, and highly adaptive. Even before awakening, he planned for an ordinary life rather than relying on impossible fortune; after gaining power, he consistently evaluates factions and masters by the concrete protection, resources, and techniques they can offer. 1 7 37 38

He is also protective toward those he regards as his own. He gave Na'er food and shelter, chose to take her away to prevent her from being drawn into Tang Wulin's path, and introduced her as family at his parents' grave. He similarly refused the Holy Spirit Sect's demand to sacrifice Blood Island's cultivators, claiming responsibility for them. 6 24 39

Lin Tian can be ruthless when necessary. Under Leng Yulai's supervision, he killed one hundred Evil Soul Masters himself and absorbed their blood, though his hand began shaking afterward. He is capable of deception, notably faking loss of control after devouring Blood Butcher and concealing the Blood Sea's deeper secrets from others. 20 26 32
