Background / History
The Blood Sea manifested when Lin Tian awakened his Blood Martial Soul. In the same event, sea soul beasts across the Douluo Planet were pulled through the void and absorbed into it, severing the foundation of Tang San's Sea God faith and causing his divine position to decline. 1 2
Initially, Lin Tian believed the Blood Sea was a dream. His soul could move freely through its blood-red expanse and perceive the entire sea as a three-dimensional mental image. It contained bizarre native creatures that later proved to be representations of blood cells. 2 13
The newly arrived Sea Soul Beasts initially suffered under the native monsters' overwhelming numbers. They eventually adapted by consuming the monsters, gaining strength and specialized attributes; after one year within the Blood Sea, they had spread across it and established it as their new habitat. 3 14
Blood Fiend's attempt to corrupt Lin Tian's Martial Soul exposed the Blood Sea's true nature. When the Blood Sea devoured Blood Fiend's Blood Snake Martial Soul and pulled him inside, Lin Tian recognized the world as his own Martial Soul. Blood Fiend was then killed amid the ongoing conflict between Sea Soul Beasts and native monsters. 12 13
Following Lin Tian's forced evil transformation, the Blood Sea entered an “Evil Era.” Its corrupted blood-cell monsters became grotesque and hostile, while Lin Tian's natural bodily regeneration continued producing normal native monsters. 15 17 Later, the absorption of the Nine-Headed Bat Unyielding Soul Spirit and Lin Tian's breakthrough to level twelve caused the Blood Sea to sublimate, transforming its blood monsters into soul beasts. 43 44
Appearance
The Blood Sea appears as a seemingly boundless, blood-red ocean. Although it exists within Lin Tian's arm as a Martial Soul, its microscopic scale makes its internal territory vast enough to resemble an independent world. 2 13 14
- Its waters are thick and scarlet, with a battlefield-like environment shaped by constant predation. 2 13
- Native inhabitants originally resemble distorted biological cells rather than conventional soul beasts. 2 13
- Red Blood Cell Monsters are fast, red donut-shaped creatures associated with life force and blood energy. 13 14
- White Blood Cell Monsters possess exceptional durability and improve defense and immunity when consumed. 3 14
- Platelet Monsters are small blue disc-shaped creatures with healing and spiritual attributes. 3 14
- T Lymphocyte Monsters are horseshoe-shaped attackers capable of firing rays; consuming them improves offensive power. 13 14
- After sublimation, native forms include Blood Grain Worms, White Armor Guards, Coagulation Platelets, and Blood Blade Guards, all with ten-year soul-beast cultivation. 43 44
- Corrupted monsters retain their base forms but develop black scales, tumors, fangs, tentacles, and scarlet killing-intent eyes. 44
Abilities & Characteristics
Microscopic World and Spatial Devouring
The Blood Sea is a complete microscopic world contained within Lin Tian's Blood Martial Soul. It can pull real beings inside and reduce them to microscopic size, as demonstrated by Blood Fiend's death within its ecosystem. 12 13
- Lin Tian's soul can enter and exit the Blood Sea, initially as an observer and later by controlling his Starfish Martial Soul as a body within it. 2 15 28
- Lin Tian can perceive the Blood Sea from a god's-eye perspective while inside. 2 3
- The siphoning effect is not freely usable: it requires a target with a Blood Martial Soul to actively touch Lin Tian's blood or make Martial Soul contact with it. 22
- The pull is described as an automatic defensive mechanism rather than an ability Lin Tian can reliably activate at will. 22
- Targets pulled inside face the Blood Sea's scale, hostile wildlife, suffocation, and the inability to immediately use their normal power. 13
Time Flow
Time within the Blood Sea progresses far faster than outside.
- One day in reality corresponds to roughly one year within the Blood Sea. 3 14 32
- This accelerated time allows its Sea Soul Beast and Blood Monster populations to wage prolonged wars, reproduce, and evolve while little time passes outside. 3 32
- Lin Tian can leave when entering actively, but passive comas leave him unconscious in reality for a day. 44
Blood-Cell Generation
The Blood Sea's native monsters originate from Lin Tian's own blood cells. His consumed nutrients and energy are converted into new cells, which manifest internally as Blood Sea Monsters. 8 13 14
- The Sea Soul Beasts' consumption of native monsters forces Lin Tian's body to regenerate more cells, creating a cycle that drives his extreme hunger. 8 13
- Red Blood Cell Monsters provide speed, life force, and blood energy. 14
- White Blood Cell Monsters grant defensive and immune benefits. 14
- Platelet Monsters improve healing and carry spiritual attributes. 14 29
- T Lymphocyte Monsters improve attack power. 14
- Newly generated normal monsters can replenish losses indefinitely, unlike the corrupted population. 17 44
External Interference
The Blood Sea's ecology is directly affected by what happens to Lin Tian's body.
- When Lin Tian's Martial Soul is summoned, extracted blood becomes ordinary plasma without blood cells, Sea Soul Beasts, or soul power. 16
- Objects introduced from outside remain at their normal size within the Blood Sea, restricting direct intervention while the Martial Soul is active. 16
- When Lin Tian is not in Martial Soul Possession, physical injuries and blood loss can cause catastrophic ecological damage inside the Blood Sea. 17
- A small amount of extracted blood devastated the Starfish Soul Beast population in the affected region, nearly exterminating it. 17
- To protect the Blood Sea, Lin Tian resolves to keep the Martial Soul released and eventually shield his arm with battle armor. 17
Corruption and Soul-Beast Evolution
The Blood Sea changes alongside Lin Tian's Martial Soul.
- The corruption of Lin Tian's Blood Sea and Starfish Martial Souls mutates the Blood Sea's native cells into Evil Blood Sea Monsters. 15 17
- Corrupted monsters are hostile not only to Sea Soul Beasts but also to normal native monsters, creating a three-sided war. 22
- After the Blood Sea's sublimation, every blood monster evolves into a ten-year soul beast, greatly increasing the danger posed to the resident Sea Soul Beasts. 44
- The evolved ecosystem produces soul rings and soul bones from fallen creatures, though Lin Tian cannot collect them directly at this stage. 44
Internal Inhabitants
- Sea Soul Beasts — Nearly all oceanic soul beasts from Douluo Continent reside in the Blood Sea after their forced absorption. They use native monsters as food and sources of enhancement. 1 3 14
- Native Blood Sea Monsters — Normal blood-cell-derived inhabitants that regenerate continuously through Lin Tian's bodily energy. 13 17
- Corrupted Blood Sea Monsters — Mutated blood-cell monsters created by Lin Tian's evil transformation; unlike native monsters, their population cannot naturally replenish. 17 44
- Blood Shadow Fungus and Blood Devouring Bodies — Former bacteria and viruses that evolve into ten-year-level opportunistic entities and prey on both native and corrupted monsters. 44
Relationships
- Lin Tian — The Blood Sea is the manifestation of his Blood Martial Soul. His energy sustains its native life, while his injuries and corruption directly reshape its ecology. 13 17
- Sea Soul Beasts — Its forcibly relocated inhabitants and long-term invaders. They initially thrive by consuming native monsters, but become endangered after those monsters evolve into soul beasts. 1 3 44
- Blood Fiend / Blood Shadow Douluo — Attempted to corrupt and exploit Lin Tian, but had his Martial Soul devoured and was pulled into the Blood Sea, where its inhabitants killed him. 12 13
- Starfish Martial Soul — Lin Tian can possess this second Martial Soul to physically explore and influence the Blood Sea from within; its internal evolution manifests back in reality. 28 32 33
- Corrupted Starfish Martial Soul — Shares an origin with the Blood Sea and allows Lin Tian to blend among both normal and corrupted Blood Sea Monsters under different conditions. 30
