History
Konoha endured a renewed Nine-Tails crisis at the beginning of the story. Minato Namikaze transported the creature away from the village, while he and Kushina Uzumaki sealed it; the village celebrated after the crisis was resolved. 1
Minato's early administration was marked by an internal dispute over Kumogakure's demands following the attempted kidnapping of Hinata Hyuga. Hiruzen Sarutobi and the Council of Elders favored Hizashi Hyuga's sacrifice to avoid war, while Minato rejected any settlement that harmed Konoha's own people. Hizashi's decision to join Minato's Anbu helped secure support from part of the Hyuga Clan, strengthening the Fourth Hokage's position. 3 6
The village's political divisions deepened around the Uchiha Clan. Shisui Uchiha used Kotoamatsukami to alter the faction preparing a rebellion, preventing an immediate uprising but permanently losing his sight. 11 13 Despite this, Danzo, Orochimaru, and masked attackers later enabled a devastating assault on the Uchiha residential district while Minato and Hiruzen were away. 26 28 30
The attack destroyed the Uchiha district's infrastructure and left only thirty-nine survivors, including eighteen elderly people and twelve children. Konoha Hospital's medical staff conducted rescue operations, while Fugaku Uchiha stepped down as clan head due to survivor's guilt. 34
Following the attack, Naruto, Itachi, and Shisui destroyed Root and killed Danzo. 34

Military and Ninja Development
Konoha trains ninja in chakra control, nature transformation, ninjutsu, taijutsu, sealing jutsu, and summoning jutsu. Chakra exhaustion is treated as potentially fatal, making physical conditioning and chakra recovery essential elements of training. 4
The village organizes graduates into three-person genin squads under jōnin instructors. Team Kakashi was ultimately formed with Naruto Uzumaki, Hinata Hyuga, and Sakura Haruno under Kakashi Hatake. 35 40
Konoha's system also assigns missions by rank. Team Kakashi accepted Tazuna's nominal C-rank escort, only for Kakashi to determine that the concealed danger made it at least an A-rank operation. 45 47
Foreign Relations
- Kumogakure / Land of Lightning — Relations deteriorated after the attempted kidnapping of Hinata and demands concerning Hyuga leadership. Open war was avoided, but the conflict continued through covert Anbu operations. 3 6
- Kirigakure / Land of Water — Konoha secretly detained the captured Fourth Mizukage, Yagura, for trial. Minato chose to keep the Three-Tails sealed within Yagura rather than immediately extract it. 24 25
