The vast ocean heaved and rolled, its dark-blue surface stretching endlessly to the horizon. There were no ships, no islands in sight. Occasionally, flocks of birds skimmed the waves, snatching up small fish before soaring back into the sky.
Fu Qingxuan rode a streak of sword light through the sky at a speed too fast for the naked eye to follow, anxiously glancing around.
After flying for a while, she pressed a hand to her earpiece and frowned. "Are we there yet?"
A helpless voice came through the headset connected to the satellite phone:
"Marshal, you asked that two minutes ago. Keep flying southeast. You'll arrive in five minutes."
Fu Qingxuan said coldly, "Which way is southeast?"
What troubled her was that she had completely lost her sense of direction. Abroad—especially at sea—navigation was useless. As someone who was slightly directionally challenged, she felt profoundly unsafe.
"Don't worry, we have your location on our end. If you go off course, we'll notify you immediately. You've already gone off course. Shift a little to the left... too far. A little to the right."
Fu Qingxuan's destination was an island. The Merchant Guild's chairman had given her its coordinates. That island was the habitat of the Biological Alchemy Society's leader, and enormous numbers of mutated monsters were raised on and around it.
The isolated island was concealed by an array. Satellites could not photograph it, and passing ships could not see it. Occasionally, some unlucky person would stumble onto the island and witness the monsters running rampant there. Amid their terror, they would also believe that they had discovered prehistoric beasts.
Most of those unfortunate people died on the island. A few lucky survivors returned to the mainland and turned what they had seen and heard on the island into movies.
