Background and History

The Demon Lord was a gifted Night Wanderer whom the Taiyi Sect regarded as its greatest threat. He specialized in assassination and concealment and killed walkers from both official and evil organizations. The Taiyi Sect Master called him the most promising and terrifying Night Wanderer of the preceding thirty years 22 33 37.

Early in his career, he drank from the Fallen Holy Grail and became the Judge of Ghostly Eyes’s slave. Fearing that the Grail would distort his mind, he used the Cat King Speaker to record his words and experiences so he could recognize his former self. He later sought a way to break the Grail’s control and vowed to kill the Judge 127 177. His recordings also describe his investigation of Dark Night Rose and his conversations with a mysterious Void-profession walker 82 177.

He was severely wounded by the Female Marshal of the White Tiger Corps in a high-level adversarial Spirit Realm and vanished from public view 33. His subsequent death was tied to a conflict over the Solar and Lunar Moon Origin Fragments. The Star Lord, Heaven’s Punishment’s Day Wanderer, and the Wind and Thunder Twin Gods opposed him; the Void Demigod, Beauty Goddess, and Fear Heavenly King protected him 962. His body and soul were destroyed, and his Role Card passed to Zhang Yuanqing, prompting the Taiyi Sect to search for a successor bearing a black full-moon mark and receiving extra Role Card rewards 22 37 63 819.

Zhang initially believed a figure he met in a slaughter dungeon was the Demon Lord’s lingering obsession. After recovering his memories and obtaining an electronic watch capable of time travel, he learned that the figure was his own future self. He traveled back to play that role and prevent the Star Lord from acquiring a Light Compass Fragment 819 1037. On absorbing the Sun Origin, Zhang regained his memories as the Demon Lord and became the Sun Lord 1002.

Personality

• Ruthless and unpredictable, he killed lawful and evil walkers alike; his recorded actions led Zhang Yuanqing to regard him as wicked 33 82.
• He was also analytical. His recordings accurately reasoned through the barrier between the Transcendent and Saint stages and documented his effort to preserve his sense of self against the Fallen Holy Grail 127 177.
• His desire for freedom drove his plan to escape the Judge of Ghostly Eyes’s control. Zhang later viewed him as both culpable for his actions and damaged by the Grail’s influence 177.

Assassination and concealment

• His proficiency made even elders of official organizations cautious about revealing their real-world identities 33.
• His combat record made him a threat to walkers on both sides of the lawful–evil divide 33.

Lunar Moon Origin

• His Role Card carried a Lunar Moon Origin Fragment, associated with secrecy. Its black full-moon mark distinguished his successor from ordinary Night Wanderers 22 575 694.
• The fragment could empower Zhang Yuanqing’s spirit body with exceptionally pure Lunar Power 497.

Sunlight authority

• After becoming the Sun Lord, he could use Sunlight to erase power and matter, temporarily erase rules, and correct distortions and madness 1002 1003.
• He later completed his ascent by absorbing the last Golden Crow 1039.

Equipment and Relics

• Role Card — passed to Zhang Yuanqing and granted an extra exclusive reward when he cleared a dungeon. Those rewards included items the Demon Lord had used 37 63 177.
• Cat King Speaker — recorded his speech and experiences, including his concerns about losing himself to the Fallen Holy Grail 127 177.
• Treasure map — fragments of a map he left behind later became objects of Zhang Yuanqing’s search 357 912.
• Electronic watch — once completed, allowed Zhang Yuanqing to travel through time and explain the apparent “obsession” he had encountered 1037.
