"Yongzi, why don't you go ask?"

"I'm not going. It's so late, let's not disturb the Daoist priest's rest."

After settling down, Zhang Zhe kept egging Tian Yong on to go and seek guidance from Wenxi.

A figure like the Daoist priest, who could command thunder, move objects from a distance, and easily neutralize the attacks of both Tian Yong and Li Dezhang.

Although they had heard others speak of such things in the past, they had never witnessed it themselves.

Having seen it recently, they naturally wanted to get closer. After all, even if they couldn't become disciples, just learning a couple of spells or receiving pointers on their martial arts would be a massive gain for everyone.

"The Daoist priest has been sitting there the whole time; he doesn't look like he's resting at all.

Go ask him; perhaps the Daoist priest won't mind."

"It's too late, let's wait until tomorrow."

"Sigh, alright then."

"Lay practitioners, young friends, please come in." Just as Zhang Zhe was about to give up, Wenxi's elegant voice rang out clearly in everyone's ears.

"Sorry to disturb you, Daoist."

Hearing this, everyone felt a surge of joy, lined up to enter the room, and stood in an orderly fashion.

"No need for formalities, sit."

Seeing everyone silently pick up the cushions piled in the corner, sit down obediently, and look at him with eager eyes, Wenxi smiled faintly.

"You lot and this poor Daoist have no fate as master and disciple, so it is not appropriate for me to take you in. The Daoist arts of this temple are also not suitable to be passed on to you."

Just as everyone felt a hint of disappointment, they heard the Daoist continue.

"Even so, our Daoist gate opens wide for convenience; all sentient beings with affinity may seek the Dao.

Since you all possess chivalrous hearts and are broad-minded, this poor Daoist can teach you the Eight Divine Incantations commonly spread within our sect. With devout recitation day and night, you may gain some miraculous effects.

As for how many you can learn and to what degree, that will depend entirely on your individual affinity."

"Many thanks, Daoist." Everyone beamed with joy and bowed in gratitude.

These Eight Divine Incantations are used in the daily lessons of Daoist priests to cleanse the sins in their hearts, protect their spirits, summon deities for protection, and open scriptures for preaching.

They are the essential incantations that one must learn and master when beginning the study and cultivation of the Dao.

They are, respectively: Incantation of Mouth Purification, Incantation of Body Purification, Incantation of Mind Purification, Incantation of Heaven and Earth Purification, Golden Light Incantation, Mysterious Essence Incantation, Incantation of Land God Pacification, and Incantation of Incense Offering.

Among them, the first four have the effects of clearing the heart, removing karmic obstacles, purifying the body, and dispelling turbidity, as well as upholding righteousness and repelling evil.

The latter two are used for commanding spirits, summoning deities, and protecting the Dharma.

The Mysterious Essence Incantation, also known as the Scripture-Opening Mysterious Essence Incantation, is recited before reading scriptures; it can dispel doubts, resolve confusion, and help one understand the mysteries of the Dao.

Simply put, it helps everyone better understand the profound principles contained within the scriptures.

Finally, the Golden Light Incantation is widely used; it is a marvelous method for cultivation in the Mysterious Gate, and its power is inconceivable.

It has the efficacy of suppressing ghosts, repelling evil, punishing wickedness, and protecting the body. With deep practice over time, one can become impervious to all evil and keep all wickedness at bay.

Daoist incantations are divided into incantations, methods, talismans, and hand seals, requiring the recitation of incantations, the practice of methods, the visualization of talismans, and the forming of hand seals.

However, since they were not members of the Daoist sect, Wenxi did not teach them overly profound mysteries, only passing on the methods of reciting the incantations.

He then transcribed the incantations and handed them over for everyone to memorize.

For a time, everyone gathered around the sheets of paper, passing them around to memorize and occasionally asking the Daoist for clarification on difficult points.

If this had been half a month ago, Lingqing would absolutely not have been able to memorize these incantations in such a short time, especially since they required specific intonations.

But having experienced the baptism of the Druid inheritance and the cleansing of natural primal force, combined with the occasional pointers on the tricks from Wenxi, by the time the morning star hung high in the sky, Lingqing had already memorized all eight divine incantations.

However, apart from the Incantation of Heaven and Earth Purification, which granted him a moment of insight and appeared on his information panel as a recognized skill, the others showed no progress at all.

Character has completed relevant behavioral training. Your understanding of [Eight Divine Incantations - Incantation of Heaven and Earth Purification] has deepened (1/5).

The moment the incantation was successful, a clear, upright, and bright energy radiated from his body, cleansing all foreign energy within a one-foot radius.

It gathered the positive energy from the surroundings toward him, giving him the feeling of being deep in a mountain forest, enveloped by the aura of nature.

This positive energy was not grand or brilliant, but rather felt clear, clean, and devoid of impurities.

"Young friend Lingqing has quite a bit of insight into the Way of Nature; it is only natural that you could comprehend this divine incantation.

It is a pity that you and I have no fate as master and disciple. I only hope that in the future, you can hold onto the Dao, cherish virtue, and cultivate the truth through self-discipline."

After encouraging Lingqing, Wenxi turned to Tian Yong and the others, who were looking on with envy.

"You lot need not be anxious; let things take their natural course. Once you attain nature, you attain the Dao.

Now, this poor Daoist will lead you through the lesson once. How much you can comprehend depends entirely on your own enlightenment."

"Many thanks, Daoist!" Even Lingqing felt a surge of joy upon hearing this, and without caring whether it was according to protocol, he joined the others in a bow.

Afterward, he began to follow Wenxi in performing the morning lesson.

As the morning light grew bright, the morning session concluded amidst the echoing, mystical chants, and everyone slowly returned to their senses.

When Ling Qing regained his focus, a stream of information flashed before his eyes, filling him with sudden, joyous surprise.

He had not expected to gain so much insight from just a single morning session with the Daoist; if he kept at it for a few more days, wouldn't he be able to learn all eight divine incantations before leaving the dungeon?

This was far faster than the half-month he had spent fumbling through his practice just to reach the entry level of the Five Animal Frolics.

While Ling Qing checked his progress, the others had also made their own gains.

Although they lacked an attribute panel like Ling Qing's, it was like practicing a song; they were now able to chant the incantations through from start to finish.

From here on, as long as they remembered the melody and practiced diligently, they would naturally be able to chant them perfectly at any time.

"Lay practitioners, young friends, your karmic connection with this poor Daoist has reached its end. I hope you will all continue to recite these diligently in the future."

Seeing everyone return from their joy, Daoist Wenxi first offered them some words of encouragement.

Before they could feel disappointed, he continued with a solemn expression: "However, there is a matter I would like to ask for your assistance with."

"Please, Daoist, just give the word."

Hearing the gravity in the Daoist's tone, everyone set aside their pleas and bowed earnestly in response.

"Because I departed in such a hurry, I did not properly arrange matters at the temple and must return for a time.

"However, the yin-turbid energy at the old tomb site is too potent; if left unchecked, I fear it will lead to disaster in the future. Since you have learned these divine incantations, you might as well go there to perform a purification.

"Firstly, this will spare the residents of this town a calamity, and secondly, you may gain further insights from the process.

"What say you all?"

"Many thanks for your guidance, Daoist. We shall follow your command."

"Excellent!"
