Background

Qiu Fangzheng was originally a poor peddler in Ox-Horn Town and the eldest son of his family. When his father died from illness brought on by overwork, he could only borrow eighty silver dollars toward the Zhou Family's required one-hundred-dollar funeral fee, leaving him unable to bury his father properly. 28

Zhou Yugen of the Zhou Family then demanded Qiu Fangzheng's younger sister, Qiu Fanglan, in exchange for waiving the expense. Qiu Fangzheng refused. That night, bandits beat him, stole his borrowed money, and abducted Fanglan; their parting words convinced him that Zhou Yugen had orchestrated the attack. 28

After being beaten and expelled from the Zhou estate, Qiu Fangzheng received a letter directing him to Fish-Plate Mountain. He was ambushed there, had the tendons in his hands and feet severed, and was thrown beside a mountain stream to be torn apart by wolves. His resentment transformed him into a ghost that remained in Fish-Plate Mountain for decades. 28

Appearance

Qiu Fangzheng's appearance changed dramatically across his ghostly existence, reincarnation, and later life as Emperor Xianwu.

As a ghost, Qiu Fangzheng was defined by grief, filial duty, and an obsessive need to avenge himself on Zhou Yugen. Even after his own death, his chief concern remained Qiu Fanglan's fate rather than vengeance against the wolves that consumed him. 28

Following reincarnation, he became lively and hot-blooded without abandoning courtesy. He respected his elders and senior brother, but his anger at Dizi's massacre nearly drove him to act rashly before Du Mingfeng restrained him. Vengeful Ghost and Ancient Ruins

Qiu Fangzheng met Li Hai in Fish-Plate Mountain and revealed the Zhou Family's role in his death. In exchange for revenge and information about Qiu Fanglan, he offered to guide Li Hai to an ancient sect ruin hidden beneath the mountain. 27 28

He alone knew the winding route through karst caves and underground rivers to the ruins, having explored them repeatedly during his decades as a ghost. He led Li Hai through the buried complex and identified its remaining treasures and historical monument. 48 49 50

Reincarnation and Return

After Li Hai killed Zhou Yugen and resolved the matter of Qiu Fanglan, Qiu Fangzheng heard a mysterious summons telling him that his hatred had vanished and that he could reincarnate. He chose to remain behind and undergo rebirth. 52

Zhang Sanxian later discovered an infant in the destroyed Qiu Family Village and identified him through precognition as Qiu Fangzheng's reincarnation. He buried the village's dead, cared for the child, and took him away from the massacre site. 672 673

After Zhang Sanxian prepared to leave for the stars, Qiu Fangzheng chose to enter the world and bring peace to it. He conquered the fragmented Central Plains, ascended the throne, and founded the Xian Dynasty. 757 816

Five centuries later, Emperor Xianwu remained the living pillar of his empire. When an otherworldly threat destroyed Qiu Prefecture and killed his disciple Zhuang Feile, he ordered Grade A defenses for Mystic Capital City and personally prepared to investigate. 819

Zhang Kuang later drained Qiu Fangzheng's true essence and attempted to force his submission. Qiu Fangzheng refused humiliation until Zhang Kuang threatened to annihilate the Xian Dynasty's populace, at which point he offered to submit to protect them. 823 824
